That was a terrific video loved it. Thought the still photo's were absolutely fantastic. Thanks for sharing. Big thumbs up from me 👍 ATB Dave 😊👍 aka wackyswanderings
Nice film mate and certainly not disjointed. Where did you get the silver foil packs? Combine that with a homemade silver cosy and that'll keep your Pot Noodle toasty hot. 😀 Between watching you and Murray, the pair of you have got me hankering for another Cairngorms trip.
Thanks mate. Link below but if you search about possibly Amazon as well you may find cheaper. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stand-Up-Pouches-Pouch-Zip-Lock-Foil-Silver-Heat-Sealable-Seal-Bag-Bags-Standup/153262203024?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=453136287616&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
Hats off to you Ray. Your hard work certainly paid off there mate. The beautiful scenery that you captured is simply awesome! Thanks for sharing. Atvb. Take care, Steve. 👍👍
Stunning cinematography, you captured the light changes wonderfully & of course, the incredible ptarmigan, you don't see those every day. It may have a been a hard walk but you don't get images like that without a certain degree of pain & effort. Bravo.
Thanks very much. Have found that just going out hiking as I do is producing better images than trying to pre-plan locations, weather, etc. Prefer just going out and see what happens now. Atb
Thanks for sharing your experience the effort involved must be very hard and time consuming creating your always very enjoyable videos this one was excellent
Loved it Ray, second time watching. It flowed well, so no worries :) I've had limited experiences in the Gorms, aside from ascending the corries - but I hope to explore the plateau in the next few months as my map is full of potential locations! That shot through the clag from Braeriach was very nice, loved the ethereal / lovecraftian look to the three crags!
The Cairngorms is somewhere I haven't explored save for the touristy Aviemore but really want to go and see the ancient forest remnants. A great looking outing and really looking forward to seeing Ray's meals coming soon! Take care, Bryan
Ray, always impressed by your quality video skills, even B-roll looks fabulous, keep it up mate, did the Larig Gru all the way to the Linn of Dee many moons ago, thanks for the memories, super duper stuff, grand man....
Another great vlog from a hike I used to do years ago. My initial thoughts at the start were, he’s going to be knackered by the end of this one. Thanks for not disappointing me. 😜 Great images as ever.
We must have been up there the same day. We done our route in a day, was a killer! We woke up in Hamish at the sugar bowl and seen the cloud inversion over Aviemore wishing we were still up there. Our next film is of our trip up Braeriach... 😀👍
Ray, you're still yomping over some awesome mountains. The footage went well I thought as did your legs. It was a tough one but you showed us some great scenes and captured some cool images. Getting cold up there already. Mark
Hi Ray, looked great, at least it stayed dry and the following morning looked fantastic.ill be up in Glencoe later this week and the forecast looks pretty damp😂 , never mind.... out and about in the fresh air😀. ATB Davie
Pot Noodles aren't enough proper energy for a long hike like that. I keep meaning to go to the Cairngorms but life gets in the way, then it's winter so I don't want to go somewhere I've not been before in winter conditions. Next year I'm definitely going to tackle them and videos like this just fuel me to wanting to get there
Thanks for watching. I do eat a lot of other things other than Pot Noodles, trial mix, nuts, protein bars, etc. ;) If you get the chance then do come up and visit, it is a great place to wander. It is also great in winter but great care needs to be taken as it is one very unforgiving place. Atb
Great film as ever. One question: what do you do for water - do you purify/filter on the way? Just wondering as haven’t seen that in your films but to be honest, probably missed it as watching the scenery!
I always take about 1 litre of a dilute juice that gets me through the day and some for at night. I always carry another 0.5 litre of water for cooking and as a backup. Often I will just take a drink from fast flowing waterfall without filtering and never had an issue touch wood. Do take a sawyer mini with me if required. Key is checking maps for water locations, streams, ponds etc around location I am visiting. New also that where I was taking shots from in morning there was a small waterfall so could get stocked up on water therre if required. Atb
I'm not a photographer (I'm an oil painter), but I absolutely get the importance of good composition... love your vids and any tips on improving my own would be greatly appreciated!
Excellent video! More than good enough for TV. Thanks for the amazing content. Just out of curiosity, how do you find the Access one in real life Scottish conditions, being inner pitch first? I’ve been looking for a free standing tent for a while, and it’s a toss up between this and the Southern cross one. Thanks, ATB.
Never had an issue with it or the Access 2 in pitch first setup. Everybody says it is bad and don't like setting up like that. However never had an issue and the inner has a DWR coating so even when I have setup in the rain it doesn't get soaked. Remember most folks roll the two up together in morning so the inner will get wet anyway if the flysheet is dripping wet. I Like the ability to store inner and outer separate. Often put inner in side rucksack and flysheet in mesh on outside the rucksack to dry off while walking. Atb
I'm from Brazil and I've been to the Cairngorms march this year and I walked to Loch Eienach and it was a great experience! Loved to watch your video. It's a great work! Do you use some stability thing to film while walking? I'm amateur with cameras, but I wish my walking footage was that stable.
Another great film Ray. Love the Cairngorms. I managed to source a couple of the foil pouches (sent away for samples!)...do you find they are reusable?? Take care Leon
Hi Leon. Not tried reusing them but could try and as long as not damaged dont see why not. However if I was going away for a long multi day trip I vacum seal them with an oxygen absorber inside and heat seal above the zip lock closure. So then only single use. Atb
Link below but if you search about possibly Amazon as well you may find cheaper. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stand-Up-Pouches-Pouch-Zip-Lock-Foil-Silver-Heat-Sealable-Seal-Bag-Bags-Standup/153262203024?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=453136287616&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
Have just bought another Access 2 as I still rate them both. However I prefer the 2 person one even though it is slightly heavier. Having an angled flysheet on both sides helps with the wind compared to one flat side on the Access 1. All will be revealed in future video why I like it and bought another.
Out for another fairly long backpacking and wild camping trip exploring around the Cairngorms and overnight camp near the Munro, Braeriach.
That was a terrific video loved it. Thought the still photo's were absolutely fantastic. Thanks for sharing. Big thumbs up from me 👍 ATB Dave 😊👍 aka wackyswanderings
OMG! (and I hate that!) WOW!!! Superb Ray! Can't wait until you're out and about this yr!👏👏👏😎
An epic area,an epic effort and epic images, thank you very much for all your hard work.really enjoyed the film.
