Hey, thanks for this amazing video! I was able to find a cleaner approach for running a Spotify playlist in a shuffle mode: 1. Just open the original url of the playlist. Don’t modify it or don’t create a customized url of the first track. 2. Wait 1 second for the app to open. This is important or otherwise the next actions won’t trigger. 3. Skip forward. 4. Play. Tested multiple times and each time a random song from the playlist was played
Thank you for your great feedback. I tried your shortcut, but it only seems to work at first glance. Duplicate your shortcut, paste another playlist's url and try both. They'll open the respective playlists, but keep playing songs from one playlist. I had your idea as well and came up with the video's solution afterwards. One has to pick a song from the respective playlist.
@@wolfram1652 @amitbaz94 Thank you both for your good work here. The shortcut in the video works for me, and the suggestion in the comment has exactly the issue you mention (if you play another playlist in between, the songs from that other playlist play when the shortcut is run). I also notice that if you "force quit" Spotify at any point (which I tend to do when I'm done listening so the music controls stop appearing on my home screen), the shortcut launches Spotify without "shuffle" mode on, so it always plays the second song in the playlist (first song + one skip forward). I solved this by assigning a variable to a random number between 1 and the number of songs in the playlist minus one, and then putting the Skip Forward command in a repeat loop using that number. It's not truly "shuffle" mode, but at least it starts with a different song every time (and yes, I need to make it wait one second before the Skip Forward commands or it doesn't work). Great work, team! ;-)
Thanks for this! It worked for me the first time and opened and played a Spotify playlist but now it opens Spotify then plays Apple Music. Do you know how I can fix it?
Any way to achieve this while the phone is locked? My use case is I want to play a Spotify song to wake me up at 4:50 am, so I won’t be awake at the time it was triggered. This used to be achieved by the “Siri shortcuts” but it seems like IOS 18 got rid of it…

@ interesting . It’s working for me with different playlists . Did you add a wait in between of 1+ seconds ?
Yes I did. strage; which iOS version are you working one? Mine is 18.1. Now im curios, why it works in your case and not in mine.

Is there any option available to enable to add track to favourite playlist via Siri?
Do you have a solution to play a podcast?

I think it would be something like this:
Shortcuts > Automation > New Automation > Set Trigger "Time of Day" > Run the video's shortcut.
