This guy is the reason One Piece broke the manga live action curse... He is so pure and full of positive energy... I started the first episode last week thinking it would be as bad as the previous adaptations of others.. But as soon as he did the first 'gum gum... Pistol'... I was hooked and finished the show in 2 days

Goddamn! Iñaki has so much energy and is so happy to be there, it's infectious! Even if the series as a whole turns out to be crap, Iñaki has pretty much earned the respect of "One Piece" fans regardless.
The directing will also be important. That Last Airbender movie had great casting for Aang, a joyful little boy, but then M.Night Shyamalan directed everyone to be much more serious then their cartoon counterpart as he treated the movie like a historical fantasy epic, when it was supposed to be a joyful adventure.

It got Henry Cavill as the lead who loved the game even before being casted and then get into the books after he's casted, a guy with genuine love for his character and series. But the writing and directing of it is mediocre at best and it follows neither the game nor the books. It has almost every ingredient to be a cult classic and is ruined by awful directing decisions.

I just finished the LA series (I know super late) but I had to comment that this young man gave such a stellar performance. I had never really interacted with One Piece before the Neftlix series (and I'm not super into anime) but this guy and his castmates were so damn likeable as their characters it made me love the show. Godoy gives off so much infectious enthusiasm as Luffy that it's unreal on the screen. Hats off!
