- Todd Sucherman tuned and set up my 1980 SONOR Phonic Oak Veneer kit and used it for his April 15, 2024 Masterclass at the West Coast Drum Shop in Bellevue, WA. Todd engages his fluid and masterful approach, impeccable technique, and has the kit singing! Steve and Todd. 2 of my very favorites! Steve, the poster that came in the Captured live album was on my bedroom wall for several years and this Sonor set was my favorite part of that poster. (along with Steve of course) Such awesome memories of summers that never seemed to end and music that has for sure, stayed with me. Thanks for this video Steve! And thanks Todd... you sound great on that famous kit!
At 2 minutes it really sounds just like CAPTURED. I used to stare at the gatefold for that album and listen to those songs and think "I want to DO THIS for a living." Never played to a stadium, though (maybe a blessing)

The captured solo is still my favorite rock solo. Had it 8 track and listened to it on repeat when I started playing in 82.

A very good question ….. This kit looks beautiful and sounds exactly the same . So, WHAT products are used in keeping these shells pristine ? What products for the rims and chrome ? I have ALWAYS used Lemon Fresh Pledge …. But would love to hear how THIS kit has been maintained through the years ! Thanks !!!
