    Your tutorials are unlike any other. They are very understandable and actually helpful. Most tutorials explain the technique but the pictures you use and the tutorial that comes along with it are very practical, which makes your tutorials the best in my opinion!

    It's funny because "Naay" is literally No in Dutch so when I practice this my housemates probably think I've done something terribly wrong.

    • @Baku69895
      @Baku69895 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Celticlight6 It isn't that hard if you have proper breath support. Just pay attention that your screams do not tense your voice on reaction. Push air instead

    I was literally inhaling while laying in a weird position just to try this technique at 2:15. selected a pitch in my head and went to attempt it at 2:18... when the text on the screen said "practice standing"... I huffed a painless exhale then you said it outright to be standing. ha.

  • @VIDEOHEREBOB
    @VIDEOHEREBOB 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It really does take a lot of energy. I think a lot of singers fail to understand just how much. And it's a controlled energy which is counterintuitive.

    • @voicehacks
      @voicehacks  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      VIDEOHEREBOB Great comment! and awesome point! yes "effortless" sounding singing really comes from.a relaxed throat/neutral larynx, but that means the effort has to come from somewhere :) and that would be moving a tremendous amount of effort to the air and now transferring it to allow the air and stomach to do the bulk of the work but my abs work very very hard! 🤘😊

    • @VIDEOHEREBOB
      @VIDEOHEREBOB 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm totally with you. I particularly need a lot of support and control for stuff like Foreigner, Toto, Loverboy, Early Motown....if you under sing, you go nowhere. If you over sing, you blow apart.

    Uhm... I can do the excercises but I previously trained for classical singing for 2 years and seriously, as a light soprano I find seriously hard this hahaha, it's not the low notes but the placement, something is weird. I found that Elize from Amaranthe is probably the belter with the most comfortable range for me when trying belting, YET I would not dare to say I am doing it right since the first 2 days I had tried It, I got tired after trying it for 15 minutes and the second time I got tired after 45, hence... looks like a real dangerous technique to try (the belting itself).

    • @boniboni4912
      @boniboni4912 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      SakumaRyuichiNG I self trained in a more classical sound and im having the same problem as you i can’t belt to save my life 😩

    • @LinkIsOurChampion
      @LinkIsOurChampion 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      G. R.C. Right?? I have a friend who can belt but cannot go classical, she said is not normal and I think that belting is the uncomfortable because of the sound. I have tried with a “meow” sound which goes directly to the front and it worked for me HOWEVER I practice doe only 15 minutes and with nice support because otherwise you definitely add pressure to your vocal folds.
      The meow I sing (for finding the place that’s in front) has worked for me but I am being wary because I will always prefer classical singing over other sound. Try the meow and singing short lines with that position, may be ir will work with you also but if it doesn’t feel right definitely try something different. Also, I don’t try it super strong or loud because my voice is kinda light.

    • @KyOte13
      @KyOte13 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also trained classical, and I've gotta admit, I feel like it made this kind of contemporary singing really hard and almost inaccesaible... THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, AT ALL! the placement is completely different. I am in the process of shedding the stuff I picked up feom classical, I always wanna sing from the bottom of my stomach with heavy vibrato, and it's definitely held me back with rock and pop style

    What if I can match pitch to a (or higher) vaccum which is very loud.
    While, matching pitch to a piano say for a church choir. Thought it's like a tenor but someone said once it's tone deaf.
    Could you explain the difference.

    • @voicehacks
      @voicehacks  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi! Unfortunately, I'm having difficulty understanding your question. Can you please rephrase? I will say that there is no such thing as being "tone deaf". Everything you say when you are speaking has a pitch on it. So, a truly "tone deaf" person would speak entirely monotone on one note all the time. This is not ever the case and therefore everyone does have a sense of pitch due to being able to speak. Matching notes more specifically with a piano or a choir, however, is a skill that has to be developed over time. It can absolutely be learned. Thanks and feel free to try to re-word your question and I'll try to answer it.

    what is meant by the "joker line' ?

    • @voicehacks
      @voicehacks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically, an imaginary line across the middle of the mouth across the corners. Kind of like the scars that the Joker has in the Dark Knight batman series. Here I talk more about these visuals: th-cam.com/video/7pamCCbOyzQ/w-d-xo.html

      Just do it anyway! I've spent a long time hesitating but I finally realized that NO ONE gets amazing doing nothing and we ALL fall a bunch of times before we can walk. This happens until we die, it's a natural progression of life. I was literally thinking today that I don't want to be afraid of sounding bad any more (I just hate the sound of it lol) so now I just want to have fun and allow myself to make mistakes. Imagine what happens then?!!!! I hope that gives you some encouragement! Now go fall a lot so you can learn how to fly! :)
