    Can i just mention Paul's shop please. I've had a few HRE T Shirts from them. I was his first customer when the merch came out. They are really good quality. The Black is still surprisingly Black, the Green is still Green and they don't shrink. Wished M&S had quality like this.

    Your attention to detail is fantastic and it always amazes me. I'm afraid that back in the early 1960s during my time with BMC an awful lot of this sort of thing was just done by eye and experience. By the way, will you strap that centre main bearing? We always used to, but perhaps it isn't considered necessary nowadays. I really like these technical videos they bring back many memories of the works cars and my racing 850.

    Well explained Paul! But I think the thrust clearance 0,06 has to be substructed from the 3,98.
    An one question, can you put different size shims on each side? Does it affect the clutch? I have them on mine🤔

    Very interesting - thanks. This is timely as I am about to remove the engine from one of my Minis - if it ever stops raining here in NW England. Unfortunately I don't have quite enough height in my garage for an engine lift so my efforts sometimes depend on the weather.

    Great video. Is there any guidance for engine/thrust bearing wear prevention you can offer us road drivers on holding the clutch pedal in for long periods of time when stopped at traffic lights etc? What about during start ups? Had heard it is not advisable to hold clutch down at start ups, which is not what we are taught for other cars. In fact many newer cars have safety starter defeat switches if clutch is not held down when cranking.

    Hello, I've recently stripped down an engine where the crank has worn away one side of the thrust bearing housing, how would you go about repairing the block and main cap if possible?

      Hi Tyrone, in principle I would work but there is a lot of variables that would have to be taken into account

      There was quite a lot of variation between the early, (pre 1964) S cranks so you'd have to be careful. It you can get hold of a spare A+ one, in any condition try it before you fully committed yourself.

    Hello there. Let me ask you; whats the utility or purpose of the CORE PLUGS ??

    • @HREIRL
      @HREIRL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They alow for expansion if the block freezes so as not to crack or damage engine internals 😁
