This was an interesting comparison, thanks for posting this. - There is a 12-round 380 mag for the Sig. In addition, I have run all of the 9mm mags through the 380 and they have all worked without a single malfunction (12 round 9mm, 15 round 9mm, and X-Maco mag). But for concealed carry, I will stick with the 12 round 380 mag to be safe. - The 365-380 with the Wilson combat grips and the WC 3 oz weights is a very fast and accurate weapon, and fun to shoot.
I just got my Security 380 (Gold Barrel model) and love it! The grip and weight is fantastic! Its the same frame as the 9mm Compact model, so both fit into the same holster size. Plus, you can't beat the price and Ruger makes great quality guns! (I still want the Beretta 80x, and even the older model Cheetah!)
IF I were to get a .380, I'd probably go w/the Ruger Security .380. Great price, good capacity and I haven't seen ONE negative review.....even Honest Outlaw loves it and he's not a fan of most Ruger pistols.
Funny because I bought my GF a Security 380 a week ago, her first gun. Ended up watching reviews of all my favorites but she got a sootch video to explain it as I had to fly back home right after the purchase. Now just starting this video to see how it ranks.
The Sig does have 12 round magazines available. When you purchase the magazine, it comes with two floor plates; one with a “sleeve” to give a good full grip to the standard 365 grip frame, and one without a sleeve for use with a 365X grip frame (which is how I have my P365-380 set up).
I used to carry a Ruger LCPII as a BUG/Summer pocket carry. However, I upgraded to a Glock 42 for several reasons: the G42 is more robust, has useable sights, and gives me the option to add a 300-lumen WML. While not as thin and light as the Ruger, it rides beautifully in a pocket or IWB holster.
Have the Sig 380, it's my edc in a iwb Vedder holster. Can also pocket carry. Very accurate, point and shoot handgun. Have several other handguns, pistol and revolver, in several calibers, but the Sig 380 is my favorite.

The Bersa Thunder .380 is a favorite here. Both the wife and daughter own them. The Tunder .380 CC drops deep into pants pocket and doesn't snag during removal. They easily fit small hands and big hands and have an optional magazine extension to give bigger hands that extra space for your pinky finger without making it a problem for CC. Inside and outside waistband and shoulder holsters are easy to find for them. Love the single/double action and the de-cocking safety. Magazine release is solid but easy to use. They're easy to rack. Good overview. I carried an LCP Max for a while, but the Sig P365 9mm, at almost the same size, took over that duty. That being said, I occasionally carry the original LCP when dressing light.
I pocket carry the Ruger LCP max (12 round mag) in a sticky holster especially just running errands around town, I wear size L to XL gloves depending on the manufacturer so yes the LCP max is small but I overlook it because here in hot, sunny, humid FL, sometimes a larger weapon is a pain to carry especially if you wear basketball shorts to run out real quick. I have a few hundred rounds through it no issues, I keep it clean and it seems to just fine, for 7-10 yards it’s a solid little thing just my pov that’s it.
Thanks for the very informative and informational video. The only .380 that I own are the ruger security 380 and the lcp max. They are both highly dependable handguns. The security 380 is so much fun at the range, the lcp max is my primary carry. I had the Thunder Plus. Loved the pistol, but didn’t like the magazine disconnect safety. Sold it because of that. I didn’t mind the frame safety because I just left if off when carrying. With that first double action pull, you could still carry it safety without the safety on.

Awesome presentation, Sootch. I just purchased the Ruger Security 380. I love it and am pleased with the feel, optics, trigger safety and the capacity.
I’m not a 380 fan because I deal with wild life issues living on a farm and it doesn’t have enough power to deal with what I have to put down. Interesting video though.
I wish more companies would try to put out Bodyguard 380/LCP sized pocket pistols. All the ones out there seem to either have garbage triggers or quality control issues.
My first pistol was the Bersa Thunder 380 Combat Plus after much research 4 years ago. My budget was tight, wanted something my wife, daughters, and I could use as I have a weak left hand due to nerve damage. As any Bersa owner knows, magazines are hard to come by and I lucked out picking up 4 Bersa magazines at a gun show. It's my EDC in a crossbody bag as I'm in a car all day and appendix carry was uncomfortable. The only thing I've added is a Viridian laser that's actually made for the regular Thunder, but with my Dremel tool I was able to affix to my Combat Plus. Luckily I have never had to use it for self-defense, but I get to the range once or twice a month to practice drawing from a seated position, as well as other positions. I have since acquired a Canik TP9 SC which I keep at home as well as a AR15 & a 9mm PCC, but the Bersa is with me at all times I step outside.
I also have the 'lemon' yellow Uplula mag loader. My close-up vision isn't what it was 10 years ago, and the yellow makes it easier for me to see the black magazine positioned inside while loading, than the standard black Uplula.
I also carry the 238 and your right. As a true pocket pistol it is a great gun. My first 238 was the HD model but like a idiot I sold it because it was a little heavier than I wanted. Now I have the 238 sport model it's a great gun no issues.
I didn't know Ryobi made a rapid-loader . . . jk. I love my Bersa Combat Plus, but, I know I will eventually pickup an 80x. .380 has come a long way. Thanks for the comparisons.
Home defense is an AR, shotty, full size Glock and a bunch of knives. Self defense while outside are the 380s and. 38s and the 9s. Depending on what I am wearing.
Beretta sent me the 80x as a replacement for a 21a. It's pretty nice. The dovetail does kinda bite. They should've rounded it out more, maybe I'll do it myself... Otherwise shoots great, feela good. Solid piece
No one with compromised grip strength should ever be advised to purchase a pistol with a 2" barrel, .380 included. In comparing cases, you should mention the bullet is the same diameter, the cases differ. 9mm is a tapered case, reloaders are aware of this. Different shell holders required. Bullet expansion from a 2" barrel is a fantasy, velocity won't get you there. 3-1/2" would be a minimum for semi-reliable expansion. Consider some non-expanding solid copper like Underwood's stuff. Do your research when choosing a defense round for .380, most stuff just pokes holes with limited energy transfer.
I’m still the Beretta and Bersa fan! I found a 9 round factory bersa thunder mag so the base model can shoot 9 plus 1 reliably. Don’t know if it’s worth getting the plus but I might just buy that one as well. Great video!
I have the ruger security 380 for home defense especially cause my wife can handle it and with me being a 3rd shift worker its very important to me that she can have something she is comfortable with but my EDC is my glock 48
I don’t consider a pocket pistol not being optics ready or not having a place to mount a light/lazer to be a deficiency. They are meant for pocket carry; concealment being of first importance.
Come on ruger be the first to make a 380 carbine...i know you can do it...and start a new trend in 380 carbines...and bring that 380 price in ammo down...😅

I don’t know why but that Beretta is pure class and so is that Bersa.
The 380 ammo of today is way different than the 380 ammo from 30 years ago people who don’t like this round don’t know what they talking about….
Don't forget about the wonderful Astra A-60. A great double-stack 380 and you can make replacement magazines from Beretta mags with a little mod.
Thanks for the great review! Always love your content.
@Sootch00 any chance you'll do a review of the Glock 25?
😂 the open slide really helps in reliability on The Beretta, except when that complex trigger mechanism fails, and the Pistol will NOT FIRE !
Haven't tried the Ruger LCP Max, but love my LCP. It's my go anywhere carry, and (much to my surprise) incredibly reliable
Thank you, Sootch.
5:27 Crazy thing is a 9mm is a .355 caliber while a 380 is a .380 caliber... wider bullet but shorter shell.
I pocket carry a .380 mouse gun more often than any of my other carry guns. Less weight, ease of concealability, comfort....
Good video!
I’m still the Beretta and Bersa fan! I found a 9 round factory bersa thunder mag so the base model can shoot 9 plus 1 reliably. Don’t know if it’s worth getting the plus but I might just buy that one as well. Great video!
sootch00 Best Gun Reviewer on TH-cam. Great analysis and commentary. You are a Firearms Rock Star!
I have the ruger security 380 for home defense especially cause my wife can handle it and with me being a 3rd shift worker its very important to me that she can have something she is comfortable with but my EDC is my glock 48
Beretta 80x all the way for me, more money, but it only hurts once…
I have security 380...Glad I made the Purchase!😂😊😊
I don’t consider a pocket pistol not being optics ready or not having a place to mount a light/lazer to be a deficiency. They are meant for pocket carry; concealment being of first importance.
Iv got the sig p365 380 but I put the standard Mischief machines alpha aluminum grip module on and run 12 round mags
I have that and the lcp. Love my friends
I am partial to a TCP.
Love your videos. If you take requests, id like to hear your thoughts on a Rost Martin RMC1.
Come on ruger be the first to make a 380 carbine...i know you can do it...and start a new trend in 380 carbines...and bring that 380 price in ammo down...😅
Hell yeah lol
High point has a 380 carbine it's not double stack it's a single stack but it's actually a pretty nice little gun
Maybe like a takedown bullpup 😏
I have the Ruger LCP Max for summer when I’m rocking gym shorts. 👍
Sootch,God bless you and you family, thank you for your support of the Second amendment, Once again thank you and God bless you, God bless America long live the republic.
The new bodyguard 2.0 takes the crown imo. Just got one and love it. I wanted to like the lcp line i had all 3 but didn't like any of them. I like a pocket 380 for backup and the bg 2.0 fits perfect
Im going to get the Model 84 BB because of palmetta state arms, really cool getting italian police surplus. The model 83 CZ sounds really interesting too, especially with it using 9x18 and looking like a makarov a little
Super, sootch!
Have the LCP Max too , carry it all the time just wondering what pocket holster you use for yours ?
LCP2 and LCP Max,,, because a mouse gun in the pocket is better than a 9mm in the safe...... 🤠
Bought a bersa thunder back in 05', hate it, super snappy. Have it stored in my bug out kit, cause that's all it's good for.
Cowboy up ! You must be a shemale ! Man up !
Worlds best job ,unlimited guns and ammo 😅
