    Sam and I finally see eye to eye on a car review. You must have hit your head during one of those drag races which brought you into the light. Best looking Accord ever, most efficient Accord ever, most comfortable Accord ever, probably just as good handling as any Accord with its rear motion control feature. Only thing I would like is some ambient lighting and auto dimming mirrors on the Touring. As someone who had the 2.0L, it was nice in spurts but it devoured gas in the city if you drove it just a little bit aggressively and suffered in the hot weather. This is what the SH-RLX should have been..RIP (at least we get it's wheel design on the Touring)

    As a mainstream car, which is what the Accord is, it's combination of features/efficiency is pretty much unbeatable. I still think the 10th generation looks much more modern imo. I also will definitely miss the 2.0T engine, and believe it was a mistake for Honda to DC it. 🤷‍♂️

    One thing I'd like to see Honda do with the Accord nameplate is to make a liftback/hatchback or wagon version, and call it the Accord Liftour or Accord Hatchtour or Accord Wagontour, but keep the low center of mass found on the existing Accord, Integra, Civic Hatchback, etc. The Stinger is axed, and the Arteon is on the way out, and I'f love to see the Honda do something with the Accord (and TLX) to pick up where the Stinger and Arteon are leaving off, because despite all those dicontinuations, the idea of a car with additional practicality and low center of mass is a highly underrated idea with so much potential.

    Good report. Except does not have a CVT. In fact no transmission at all. The drivetrain is more like a diesel locomotive. The ICE engine drive a dynamo that generates electricity for the drive motor. It does feel like a CVT with it’s infinite ratios. This Honda engineering is unique among hybrids.

      @@dakotawoodruff2622 Honda uses that terminology to describe their Powertrain. Maybe a better way of describing this system is to refer to it in terms of a verb, “transmitting” the power from the ICE engine through the electrical generator/battery to the wheels. Automotive transmissions are are actually a noun, a mechanical device between the ICE engine and the wheels. No such device exists in this system. No matter, it is an extremely clever piece of engineering that only Honda uses to simplify the process. Competitors are all using actual physical transmissions to accomplish this, complicating the process. Repeat; the Honda system feels and hears like a CVT to the driver.

    • @garyhawkins1941
      @garyhawkins1941 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you are an employee of HTM. Been there many times. If so you probably know that the CVT that Honda uses on many Accords, Civics, and CR-Vs is made at the Anna Engine Plant for several years now. It is considered one of the best CVTs out there. This is an actual transmission using two tapered steel cones connected by a steel belt. Actually this transmission is used on the base non-hybrid ‘23 Accords.

Not since the 87 GN and GNX was there such a tuning potential in sleeper making it four doors and not considered a sports car makes it even more of a unicorn! For those arguing "the 2023 Camry has a V6 with a lot more power", are you sure that will carry over to the next gen? Sure, 2.4T may be a thing, but sedans have stricter EPA standards than an equivalent CUV. I think Honda might be working on a more powerful version of I-MMD hybrid (whether just more power or PHEV in the works). Great review, as someone who owns a good amount of relatively fast cars(10-11s in the quarter) my 10th generation hybrid is a JOY to daily. The torque from the battery is a monster for that 0 to 20mph blast from stop lights. For how plush it rides, it's superbly damped and handles really well. Barely takes any gas and the second row where my kids sit, make our SUV feel tiny and cramped. Amazing on gas to boot, going 65mph I get about 55mpg.

    When Sam said he will take this over a TLX, that just showed how much he really loved the driving and overall packaging of this car. Yes, as a former owner of a 2.0t sport and touring accord, you won’t be racing anything with this at any stoplight and highways but as a commuter car to work and leisure trip with your family, this checks all the boxes. I just wish with that even with the lower trims, they have added those back seat vents and charging ports because Honda should know most of the people who will buy the accord have passengers at the back (kids with their ipads/iphones) that will complain that they are hot and running low in battery with their gadgets (wife included). I would have preferred to get the lower trim hybrid such as the sport if they have those in all. EX L has those two at the back but I want to have the 19in wheels and sport styling for visuals not to make this car any faster lol. You have to go to Touring to get all of those (decklid spoiler not included). Great and honest review!

    I wouldn't bet on it!!!

      I sure hope you're right. I've given Honda a lot of grief online for dumping the 2.0T. I would love for them to shove my words back on me by offering a more powerful Accord. I would gladly eat crow and go buy one.

      @@a32tl same here. I grew up on Honda so to see the drastic change is a bit disappointing. But I would gladly buy another one if Honda released a fun and sporty model. If not, Ill get the 2.0t and keep my 16 v6

      @@jefflarson3461 I just bought a certified pre-owned '21 Accord Touring 2.0T that only had 4k miles on it. I was holding out for the '23 and when I found out they were dropping the 2.0T, I began looking for a slightly used Accord. Found my '21 and bought it almost 2 months ago. I will be keeping this one a while unless Honda comes back to their senses and offers an Accord that interests me. The 2.0T package is just so good that it boggles my mind why they would nix it. I wish they would have dropped the 1.5T engine, offered the Hybrid as the base engine and kept the 2.0T engine for their customers who desire the extra power.

      @@a32tl I totally agreed 👍. They should drop that 1.5t shit engine that gives oil issues. Base model Hybrid, 2.0t for higher trim
