Yong, you should make a video about this: License expiration, the videogame industry has so many problems, that people forget about this. While this game is a complete failure and people won't miss it, the videogame industry needs to be preserved, even bad games need to be available for people who want to make reviews or just want to play out of curiosity, even games like Superman 64, Atari E.T. and Barbie games can't become lost media. This is a small part of a much bigger problem, there are still games and DLC removed from digital stores because they are based on a license like a movie, show, cartoon, comic, sports league or celebrity, or has licensed music included, and when the license expires, the game goes away, and this isn't a problem of "physical vs. digital" because GoldenEye 007 cannot be sold again anymore too, the only way to play that game without pirating is finding the original N64 carts, and those are not going to last forever, Rare is not even allowed to make those reproduction carts. While copyright laws are a big mess, and they need a reform, the real issue is that videogame companies refuse to pay more for a permanent license, where even when the license expires, they are still allowed to sell the game, they just can't make another game, when Hollywood studios make movies based on properties they don't own or use licensed music, they can sell that movie forever even when don't have the rights anymore, the movie rights to Ghost Rider are no longer owned by Sony, they can't make a third Ghost Rider movie, but can still sell the other two.

The devs and publisher behind it always changing. That so unfair for gaming industries cant sell any of those vodeogames bcd their license expired whole movie is forever. Cause of the Unreal engine lawsuit, the game was to cease selling and all physical copies destroyed. But you can offically download the game for free......As this doesn't break the copyright rules......I'm no expert

Yeah. I liked it back when it was on Xbox but this remaster seemed really lazy. Its like they didnt even try. Heck they didnt even put remastered or some other clever form of remastered in the title. Very disappointing.

For those who don't know, Bandai Namco also quietly released The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift tie-in game on the PS2, which was surprisingly faithful to car culture, despite the difficult handling model.
That was the shit, Drift events is insanely hard and there is tons of different techniques of drifting, the clutch kick being the easiest one to perform and scores the lowest score is my way of playing lol, the wangan races is easier but if you are very fast you easily spins out, using AWD cars helps but not much, i never finished the game back then, got stuck on beating the guy that teaches you to drift using Silvia S13 with yellow and dark red livery (i forgot his name), definetely a Soulslike racing game
to be fair Vin Diesel really is a hardcore gamer, he's even heavily into D&D. He also literally founded Tigon studios and oversaw the creation of the Chronicles of Riddick games. And the Ark Survival game devs say he has logged over 1000 hours in that game. That said I am sure this game is terrible

I saw this way back in the day on Jim Sterling's channel, but it was called Eve of Destruction - REDUX VIETNAM. So insanely buggy and hilarious. Of course, we can't forget the infamous Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing either.
When I was a kid this game was basically my GTA (because I couldn’t play actual GTA). The police chases were fun as hell in Wheelman with the carjacking, it resulted in some ridiculously fun gameplay
Even as an 8 year old at the time, I realized how garbage Wheelman was. Thinking back on it now is like a giant fever dream, having Dom literally jump car to car and shit.
But that would require effort..and work. And Vin Diesel giving a damn about his voice performance. Instead of sounding like he constantly has cereal in his mouth without any milk.
To think that the Fast and Furious video game in 2003, that was actually about street racing and looked fun, got cancelled because the devs were afraid of it competing with EA's Need For Speed Underground and Rockstar's Midnight Club but this didn't get cancelled for genuinely being a bad movie game still bogles my mind to this day. EDIT: I loved Midnight Club and NFS Underground and 2, I'm just saying it just would've been nice the game possible join them in the greatest of all time arcade racing game department.
The thing with arcade racing games is that the playerbase of one title will be very, VERY open to trying other arcade racers. Ive played the last three Forza Horizons pretty religiously, but also given The Crew, NFS, Test Drive Unlimited and even Burnout a go. They're all good in their own ways. I highly expect that even back in 2003 that the fanbases of NFS and Midnight Club would've given it a shot
I mean tbf they definitely should have been scared. Underground 2 and MNC 3 Dub edition were top 5 best racing games of all time. Not to mention the goat came out 2 years later with Most Wanted.

It was that PS1 game you see one of the racers play in his car I think the trailer was in the special features of the fast and furious dvd also, cuz I remember my cousin and I watching a trailer of it somewhere when we were kids and wondering where we could prob find it

Someone wanted a Fast and Furious Game, Slightly Mad Studios had a few Tracks and Car Moddles still laying around. SMS does this to cross-finance the projects they actually want to make. Keep in mind SMS is not used to make high Quality human models. They have very good visual Artists that make gorgeous car moddels but human moddels they are simply not used to it. They are also not used to make story driven or adventure single player games. All that combined and driven as a side project you get such a result.

I never realised before that this was developed by Slightly Mad Studios. They had another game release (Project Cars 3) that became a meme in the sim racing community, around the same time as this game's release.
I was on that SMS team when they landed the contract for the F&F games. Even half the dev team did not want to work on this shovelware 💩 SMS was a simracing studio that miserably failed to branch into adventure games.
which is disappointing, because vin diesel actually has a pretty good track record with his involvement with game movie adaptations. the Riddick games were absolutely amazing, and correct me if I'm wrong but I have the impression that vin was somehow involved with the studio that made those games, starbreeze studios or something

If you ever get a serious hardlock crash on PC I have discovered a surefire method to close it. If you press and hold the windows key and then press tab it will open up the multi window options for dual monitors even if you only have a single one running. Simply move the crashed game to desktop 2 by rightclicking on the program (you will see it expanded under the available desktop options) and click move to: then click desktop 2 then switch to desktop 1. This will now allow you to use the task manager on desktop 1 to close the program on the second desktop.

And it actually turns out to be a hilariously gross and yet engaging game about learning to work with your dad's old vintage car while your parents go on vacation, all the while managing your other responsibilities like paying for your utilities and groceries, self-hygiene, social skills, etc. The year is 1995, there are no computers around, you have to mail order to get parts for your car, and WAIT for the parts come to your house. If you want to make some money you can work for your neighbors delivering their groceries or cut lumber for them and deliver to their house by truck. If you leave the sauna on in your house overnight, you burn the fucking house down and you can't go back. I mean it is one of the worst looking games I've ever seen, literally appalling, and yet it ironically adds a very delicate charm over the entire veneer of the game. So graphics aren't everything, but in this case, it had nothing else to fall back on. So ofcourse people will complain about the terrible graphics.

Revisited your play through of this game at the end of last year and it cheered me up quite a bit. Not surprised by the news here, but I will say it brought some laughs and fun during some dark times. So I will give it that much.
Every time one of these games gets delisted, I get annoyed. I don't care how bad a game is, why in the world would they remove it from stores? There was one example that actually got me into noticing this, and it was 3D ultra mini golf adventures 2. I liked the first game and had no clue a 2nd one was even released, and I guess that's because for some reason, they don't like to make money and decided to delist the game not long after it was released. This is why Discs and discs that contain the WHOLE GAME are important
My heart goes out to all the game devs who probably worked their ass off to make this game. Only for the head game director to lead them all into making a game that is really poorly designed.
I'd bet the actors were contractually obligated to be in the game. Also, it's not uncommon for traditional actors that are good in film and TV to be sub-par VAs.
Definitely more than 5,000 people bought this game. It's important to remember that even though only 50 people were playing it at a time max, in general, only 10% of players are online at a given period of time and it is spread across multiple platforms. But much like Marvel's Avengers, it's more of a joke than an achievement
We need more games like F&F Crossroads and Ride to Hell: Retribution 1%. Games that are just so bad that they are hilarious, much better than most lame AAA games.

Diesel actually plays DND though, and that witch Hunter movie is pretty much his DND character in screen. I doubt he as into video games but I wouldn't call his "gamer" cred into question. No idea about Rodriquez though. I think it was definitely more like the studio dictating their appearance for cross promotion rather than a personal emporsememt on their part.
The game designers should've looked at Need For Speed using that with GTA approach with an amazing story & rewards has much to offer with tremendous potential to upgrade via online! It's a shame when greed oversights practical & potential!!!
Yeah, I never heard of this game. It sounds like they lost the license to the IP in all seriousness. There would be no reason to de-list it unless they legally cannot sell it. This might honestly lead to a happy ending in a better game company making a quality game.
The game is literally call of duty for cars. The reason why Fast and the Furious does so well in theaters is because people want to watch explosions, cars, Vin Diesel and the Rock. We already have that stuff in video games and if we don't already have it, someone has probably modded it into GTA or Gmod.
Despite everything this game made wrong, I am sad for it being delisted. It's an experience, awful or otherwise, that no one will be able to get again. Maybe I'll buy it just to keep it... Every game is a world, I always feel sad when one disappears.
I've had the same thoughts too. I remember playing GTA Vice City on my PSP and thinking how cool it was to have my own little fully simulated world to play in. As cheesy as that might sound.
Here’s a free idea for a Fast and Furious game. Two focuses, street racing and vehicle heists. You street race to earn money you can then use to upgrade your car with a robust customization system like NFS Underground 2, Forza and others. Want a little extra money? Do a vehicle heist from stealing trucks to stealing government submarines like they do in the movies. Once you complete those you get a large amount of money. Street races are online with a Car meet space where you can walk around and see other player’s cars and bet each other on drag races and other type of races. You can also spectate said races. Support the game for a year with DLC car packs, no Microtransactions. Like come on, you can’t tell me that’s an out of this world idea for a Fast and Furious game. My god.
This is the first time i've ever heard of a Publisher stopping sales of a game, usually they keep selling it regardless if it is playable or not (titan fall and titan fall 2's multiplayer)
When the Transformers games were delisted from digital store fronts, a few years (i believe about 3) later they shut down the servers of them all. And there were WAY more people playing than Crossroads for the whole tenure. I'll give Crossroads servers a year max.
Gotta love that Penny from Snapcube says in her video of the game that it's more fun to try and drive with your eyes closed instead of actually playing the game.

I bought the physical version on ps4. It’s one of those things you need in a collection. I know it’s weird, but i did it for family.
I wish they'd make a Wheelman sequel. Now that's a driving game featuring Vin Diesel that is good (and underrated).
Fact just needed a bit of polish
When I was a kid this game was basically my GTA (because I couldn’t play actual GTA). The police chases were fun as hell in Wheelman with the carjacking, it resulted in some ridiculously fun gameplay
Even as an 8 year old at the time, I realized how garbage Wheelman was. Thinking back on it now is like a giant fever dream, having Dom literally jump car to car and shit.
But that would require effort..and work. And Vin Diesel giving a damn about his voice performance. Instead of sounding like he constantly has cereal in his mouth without any milk.
I loved Wheelman, great fun to play
Getting delisted is not the most important thing the most important thing is “they got family”

Lmao Ride to Hell failed so hard though when it was first announced, I thought it might not be that bad.
To think that the Fast and Furious video game in 2003, that was actually about street racing and looked fun, got cancelled because the devs were afraid of it competing with EA's Need For Speed Underground and Rockstar's Midnight Club but this didn't get cancelled for genuinely being a bad movie game still bogles my mind to this day.
EDIT: I loved Midnight Club and NFS Underground and 2, I'm just saying it just would've been nice the game possible join them in the greatest of all time arcade racing game department.
The thing with arcade racing games is that the playerbase of one title will be very, VERY open to trying other arcade racers.
Ive played the last three Forza Horizons pretty religiously, but also given The Crew, NFS, Test Drive Unlimited and even Burnout a go. They're all good in their own ways. I highly expect that even back in 2003 that the fanbases of NFS and Midnight Club would've given it a shot
I mean tbf they definitely should have been scared. Underground 2 and MNC 3 Dub edition were top 5 best racing games of all time. Not to mention the goat came out 2 years later with Most Wanted.

I think the trailer was in the special features of the fast and furious dvd also, cuz I remember my cousin and I watching a trailer of it somewhere when we were kids and wondering where we could prob find it

Someone wanted a Fast and Furious Game, Slightly Mad Studios had a few Tracks and Car Moddles still laying around. SMS does this to cross-finance the projects they actually want to make. Keep in mind SMS is not used to make high Quality human models. They have very good visual Artists that make gorgeous car moddels but human moddels they are simply not used to it. They are also not used to make story driven or adventure single player games. All that combined and driven as a side project you get such a result.

Yeah I agree. I'm really big into Lost Media, and it's always sad when something like this happens, even when the media in question isn't exactly the best.

I almost drove off the road listening to this video. I watched the other two videos about this game and Yong reading the comments in that way made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt.
I never realised before that this was developed by Slightly Mad Studios.
They had another game release (Project Cars 3) that became a meme in the sim racing community, around the same time as this game's release.
I was on that SMS team when they landed the contract for the F&F games. Even half the dev team did not want to work on this shovelware 💩 SMS was a simracing studio that miserably failed to branch into adventure games.

which is disappointing, because vin diesel actually has a pretty good track record with his involvement with game movie adaptations. the Riddick games were absolutely amazing, and correct me if I'm wrong but I have the impression that vin was somehow involved with the studio that made those games, starbreeze studios or something

I have mixed feelings. It's a bad game and the world won't really miss much, but the Lost Media nerd in me still thinks this is a shame. Also it's gotta sting for people who worked on this to see it essentially get erased, especially so quickly.

If you ever get a serious hardlock crash on PC I have discovered a surefire method to close it. If you press and hold the windows key and then press tab it will open up the multi window options for dual monitors even if you only have a single one running. Simply move the crashed game to desktop 2 by rightclicking on the program (you will see it expanded under the available desktop options) and click move to: then click desktop 2 then switch to desktop 1. This will now allow you to use the task manager on desktop 1 to close the program on the second desktop.

@@AliothAncalagon there are plenty of bad looking games out there, play My Summer Car, game looks fucking horrible, developed by a single Finnish dude who probably drank too much beer one day and decided to code his life into video game format. And it actually turns out to be a hilariously gross and yet engaging game about learning to work with your dad's old vintage car while your parents go on vacation, all the while managing your other responsibilities like paying for your utilities and groceries, self-hygiene, social skills, etc. The year is 1995, there are no computers around, you have to mail order to get parts for your car, and WAIT for the parts come to your house. If you want to make some money you can work for your neighbors delivering their groceries or cut lumber for them and deliver to their house by truck. If you leave the sauna on in your house overnight, you burn the fucking house down and you can't go back. I mean it is one of the worst looking games I've ever seen, literally appalling, and yet it ironically adds a very delicate charm over the entire veneer of the game. So graphics aren't everything, but in this case, it had nothing else to fall back on. So ofcourse people will complain about the terrible graphics.

Revisited your play through of this game at the end of last year and it cheered me up quite a bit. Not surprised by the news here, but I will say it brought some laughs and fun during some dark times. So I will give it that much.

Every time one of these games gets delisted, I get annoyed. I don't care how bad a game is, why in the world would they remove it from stores? There was one example that actually got me into noticing this, and it was 3D ultra mini golf adventures 2. I liked the first game and had no clue a 2nd one was even released, and I guess that's because for some reason, they don't like to make money and decided to delist the game not long after it was released. This is why Discs and discs that contain the WHOLE GAME are important
My heart goes out to all the game devs who probably worked their ass off to make this game. Only for the head game director to lead them all into making a game that is really poorly designed.
I'd bet the actors were contractually obligated to be in the game. Also, it's not uncommon for traditional actors that are good in film and TV to be sub-par VAs.

You forgot the best part of the ending: Vin Diesel SURFS ON THE ROCKET, while it's blasting presumably hundreds of mph across the ground.

It's important to remember that even though only 50 people were playing it at a time max, in general, only 10% of players are online at a given period of time and it is spread across multiple platforms. But much like Marvel's Avengers, it's more of a joke than an achievement

Vin Diesel is absolutely a gamer, his studio Tigon was the company that developed the Chronicles of Riddick game and he's also massively into D&D

Diesel actually plays DND though, and that witch Hunter movie is pretty much his DND character in screen. I doubt he as into video games but I wouldn't call his "gamer" cred into question. No idea about Rodriquez though.
I think it was definitely more like the studio dictating their appearance for cross promotion rather than a personal emporsememt on their part.

The game designers should've looked at Need For Speed using that with GTA approach with an amazing story & rewards has much to offer with tremendous potential to upgrade via online! It's a shame when greed oversights practical & potential!!!
Yeah, I never heard of this game. It sounds like they lost the license to the IP in all seriousness. There would be no reason to de-list it unless they legally cannot sell it. This might honestly lead to a happy ending in a better game company making a quality game.

The game is literally call of duty for cars. The reason why Fast and the Furious does so well in theaters is because people want to watch explosions, cars, Vin Diesel and the Rock. We already have that stuff in video games and if we don't already have it, someone has probably modded it into GTA or Gmod.

Despite everything this game made wrong, I am sad for it being delisted. It's an experience, awful or otherwise, that no one will be able to get again. Maybe I'll buy it just to keep it... Every game is a world, I always feel sad when one disappears.
I've had the same thoughts too. I remember playing GTA Vice City on my PSP and thinking how cool it was to have my own little fully simulated world to play in. As cheesy as that might sound.

Here’s a free idea for a Fast and Furious game. Two focuses, street racing and vehicle heists. You street race to earn money you can then use to upgrade your car with a robust customization system like NFS Underground 2, Forza and others. Want a little extra money? Do a vehicle heist from stealing trucks to stealing government submarines like they do in the movies. Once you complete those you get a large amount of money. Street races are online with a Car meet space where you can walk around and see other player’s cars and bet each other on drag races and other type of races. You can also spectate said races. Support the game for a year with DLC car packs, no Microtransactions.
Like come on, you can’t tell me that’s an out of this world idea for a Fast and Furious game. My god.

This is the first time i've ever heard of a Publisher stopping sales of a game, usually they keep selling it regardless if it is playable or not (titan fall and titan fall 2's multiplayer)
Could be due to licensing for the cars like everyone is saying. Licensing is expensive and obviously this game can't afford to renew it
When the Transformers games were delisted from digital store fronts, a few years (i believe about 3) later they shut down the servers of them all. And there were WAY more people playing than Crossroads for the whole tenure. I'll give Crossroads servers a year max.
