When we play games like Star Citizen, our role before gameplay is reporting gameplay bugs and exploits. An expectation is to play the game after reporting. Not hammer and exploiting a known reported bug to pad your out of game pocket. No reason to bust the ingame economy and keep it busted.
Should they have been banned? You tell me. Most every patch or update results in some new exploit being found allowing folks to far exceed normal income levels. But it's usually more annoyance factor than anything else. Not a big hairy deal. And everyone knows the next update or patch will close or bury the exploit. And of course EVERY update stirs up more talk of a wipe. Which would erase any gains they might have made with that exploit anyway. But THIS exploit was big enough it was affecting server stability in a pretty major fashion.
Players should definitely not have been banned. The shills all say “it’s not a game, it’s an alpha” any time anyone makes a valid complaint, but now it’s a “game” when someone else is better than them.
Yes, screw them. The bans are needed and justified. They completely messed up the servers and gameplay for players and potential new players at Invictus for weeks with their duping garbage. Once an exploit is discovered, made public and someone continues to use it they are in violation of ToS. I have found new exploits and I reported them to CIG through direct messaging. I don't make videos showing the world how they're done like a lot of people did for clicks. There will be more and more disciplinary actions going forward as the game enters the 1.0 roadmap.
CIG isn't even known to deliver moving targets for the past 4 years. They can't even reliably fix the "X" to close the inventory interface.

It is a 3 month suspension not a ban per se. I was a duper but not crazy like the 600 that got busted.
I think if they ban anyone from an alpha, they need to open up refunds to all players.
