Switching between chords like this takes a lot of time and muscle memory, once you get down bar chords /7ths and Diminished chords come back to something like this!
@@Chargede barre chords are hard at first just make sure not to bend your fingers too much so you don’t accidentally end up muting the other strings :)
this is amazing and rly helped but idk if that C#m7 is the right chord? The rest sounds spot on. Thank you for the video i've been trying to do it by ear for a while now and a couple of those chords were tricking me
Yeah, it was hard to hear what kind chord that was, I just put that C#m7 because I thought it sounded right at the time, but now I think it's actually some kind of F#m chord where you barre the entire second fret - so 222222. I know it has a name but I can't remember it right now haha.
This is great! But I think for next time, it would make more sense to flip the chord readouts the other way. I feel dyslexic looking at them and matching them to the neck!
Yeah, I understand what you mean. This was done super quickly, so I didn't think about how the chords would be displayed. If I ever do another of these again, I will make it better.
Great cover and playing ! I did a cover too to this outstanding chord progression with printscreen of how to make the actual recording sound, hope u'll like it
I didn't really go into this thinking about tone, I just used what my amp was already set to, which is the bass and mids at halfway and the treble just at around 10 O'Clock with my guitar at the neck pickup. If that's any help to you?
@@justalyftdriver6831 It's a Telecaster, although my one is a copy that I got cheap, I'd recommend Fender guitars (because I'm just biased towards them) but it doesn't really matter what guitar you get because the hand positions will still be the same. As for making this your first song you learn, I'd personally hold off on it (PRIDE. has a lot of barre chords and quick changes that would be tricky for beginners) but if you think you're able to persevere through it then go for it!
Assuming you're gonna play the guitar and are not trying to emulate the guitar with a virtual instrument: Get a nice clean amp simulator. Go for something like Bias FX or NeuralDSP's Archetype: Cory Wong. Volume relatively high, gain relatively low, try to not drive it too much but you still want a tiny bit of crunch if you play louder I would say. (at least to achieve this video's version. The original sounds cleaner to me, so even less gain, compensate with volume on the amp sim if you have to). Use some compression to normalise the guitar picking volumes because when playing something soft like this your dynamics will vary wildly. Get a nice chorus effect. If you already chose bias fx for the amp, they've got few good ones, just try out different options. You want the signal quite wet but play around with values. Put some reverb in there as well. Try different things. I would start with a reverb on the guitar chain, but try a reverb on post as well, might be easier to achieve the effect and especially if you're trying to get that stereo image. If you're trying to get the same sounds with a virtual instrument, try something like Kontakt's Session Guitarist. I've not tried this personally, but seems like one of the best virtual guitars out there. If you were hoping for a simple solution with a single plugin to achieve this sound, I'm sorry but I don't think that's gonna be easy to get.
@@tntero i don’t have a guitar and was looking for a vst tbh but this sound is so beautiful i might just have to invest in one. thank you very much for the detailed explanation!
how do you get your guitar to sound like that? i just started playing the electric guitar and i was wondering if it’s the specific guitar u have or the amp? pls let me know. thank u.
Hi. It's been a while since this video but I could tell what effects were used to get the sound. To get the sound is a chorus pedal with some compression and a bit gain. The one I use is from my Zoom G3X multi-effects simulator but you can also buy the pedals separately. All these items can be pricy at times but if you look around enough you could find a good deal that won't cost as much. It should work with any guitar and amp you use. Hope that helps.
A Stoj um do you know what chord you coukd play after the D which would be easier than B, I've tried Bm7 and it sound okay, just wonder if you have any suggestions
A Stoj I disagree. This kind of progression is very sunny and the Bm doesn't fit that sound, it instead sounds mushy (not even Bm7 works), while the D6 fits the mould better because of its dreamlike quality. Also about the B/B7 suggestion, the chord shape and notes are almost there, but the root note sounds a bit more exotic and chromatic following from the D, so I think it's better.
god bless steve lacy
who's that?
The producer of the song. He's in a band called the internet. You should check him out.
Dawg Gawd check him out, (Steve Lacy's demo)
Jason Orozco I just did the song dark red kinda reminds me of pride from a musical standpoint

As someone new to guitar, I can confidently say… I cannot play this yet

just f sharp minor i think
I play an F# minor 7, seems to work pretty well but it's always hard to be certain with complex chords :)
great job dude! can I ask you which effect are you playing with in the video?
It seems like in the song its a chorus, light flanger, and eq the highs.

Just a little correction, if you’re covering the song Steve Lacy isn’t actually doing mutes in-between chords.
Thanks!

How do you do the distortion
Wasn't really much distortion. All I had on was a booster pedal from my Zoom G3X with some chorus and reverb. :)
What’s the positions for Ebdin
Gabriel Juan The way I did it was x6787x because I thought the voicings sounded better there, but you could also play Ebdim like x6757x or xx1212.
