The parts were not cleaned; the flux didn't' get between the connected parts to prevent oxidation and provide good adhesion; the parts were heated before any flux applied, i.e. they get an oxidation film, which cancels the solder flowing and adhesion. For the small model it probably works, but not if we want a really strong connection.
Wow, that's a realistic model. I first thought you had made a real trailer hitch part with this method, which was a little disturbing. :-)
