    Wikipedia: turbo button is a button which provides two run states for the computer: normal speed or an enhanced "turbo" speed. It was relatively common on personal computers using the Intel 80286, Intel 80386 and Intel 80486 processors, from the mid 1980s to mid 1990s.

      @@realgroovy24 I fully understand where you're coming from, my friend. When I first started watching Ben, I would scream at the monitor that he should "sell that stuff!" Over time, I have come to realize that Ben has been there and done that. He's been doing this for a number of years. He understands the value of things, but he also understands that his time is more valuable that eBaying the fancy bits.
      If you look back through is videos, he details various stories of trying to sell things on eBay. Yes, the item may be valuable to some, but the number of people surfing eBay for ancient items isn't all that high. He DOES keep some rare and cool stuff though. He's got a collection that he needs to show off! :D

    Turbo is really there to slow things down. Its not a misnomer. Its just that you would run your computer in turbo mode 99% of the time. However some games would be written based on clock speed rather than constant time. You would get a new PC and all of the sudden everything in the game would move too quickly. Hit the turbo button to toggle turbo off and now you can play your old games.

    Hi Ben, I came across some older electronics from around the 50's and 60's. The estate sale that i picked a bunch of stuff from had some nice misc boards and components. Some never yet installed. Everything was given to me for free. I'll sell what i can and just purchase gold and silver, But some are not really worth reselling. I'm wondering if you had any idea if older electronics had a higher content of gold in them. I'm just going to add them to my current scrap parts. Thx for all the videos. Matt

    • @sharkscrapper
      @sharkscrapper 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matt - generally speaking older ewaste does have a higher precious metal content than newer systems. Sometimes you can even see the difference such as the gold fingers that Ben showed in this video. Sometimes you're just taking a guess such as with older IC's. All things considered, older IC's, Flat Packs, CPU's, etc will have more gold. Hope that helps.

    You shoud nowdays save all vintage boards for gold recovery. In the future you will get basicly nothing to recover. New boards are very cheaply made, expensive but don't have anything in them. Keep up the good work.

    Hi I need all cards you pulled out from this motherboard.

  • @mikemoyercell
    @mikemoyercell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    you would get more selling those cards on ebay. That speedstar vga card is worth some money as well as the ethernet card. You'd certainly get more for it than scrap value. Those old Motherboards too. The first one was a micronics 486 and the last one you weren't sure about was a 386. Say if you lived near me - Id gladly give you $20 for that miniscribe hdd and I know that is more than what youd get for scrap on that thing.
