Speaking about unexpected sirens at night: I have a collection of pacemakers and implantable defibrillators. One night, at around 3 AM, I was awaken by a noisy siren coming out of my storage cabinet... What the heck ??? It turned out that one of the pacemakers was in the last hours of its battery live and triggered a build-in alarm siren !!! Now try to cut open a laser welded titanium case at 3 AM :-/ actually I didn't to that, I just wrapped it in towels and stored it the further away possible from the bedroom.

good to see you mate, glad ya well. You will wake up one morning go out the door and that chucks going to be scrapping for ya she.s deffo in training. i recharge them battery's normal just dry all that sun there you could have free power in ya shed for lights etc anyways my friend be well. wow if your arking ups battery's you got good battery's wish i had them today i would be using them to get power for my inverters

The small toroidal transformers you rip off the boards are easy to get the copper from, no unwinding. Just give them a tap with a hammer, the ferrite ring cracks and the copper comes off super easy

Totally agree, I loved watching Ben and others in our last lockdown aswell as making my own content, but I'm working a lot in this one so can't live that marathon joy again🙁 And at least our last lockdown was in summer!🥶

Awesome Ben. I got 2 big copper toroids slighly smaller than that out of an old amp for a premier a few weeks back and almost peed my pants in excitement 😂 (it's fair to say I'm a copper girl as some on youtube are beginning to notice and I get a tad excitable 😂) I would have been thrilled at the goodies on those powerboards too👀🙂

Hello Ben. Even the torroids that are in plastic like that, I take off the copper and whats left goes in with motors and transformer. I also take the relays and the wound ferrite posts,, goes in a bucket for when I am low on scrap to fiddle about with.

We still use a load of these little UPS's, and some older ones, all over the place. We binned a load of more modern Trust ones because we couldn't reply on them and replaced them with old APC units. They've been completely reliable.

One time i picked up a ups it was about 75 kilo and when i touched the circuit board i got zapped i learned to take out the batterie forst happy new year ben

I have UPS the shape of blocks and they are kinda heavy 🙂, but I have one big one like Ben is scrapping. First I thought it was a server blade 🤣, and that sucker is heavy.

Ben when you knock down that overhead cover have a new one put up that covers that entire cement patio. Then you can put more items under cover and be ahead of the new rules. Dang EPA gonna fix it where no one can scrap items, already like that in some european countries. I can't wait to see the end results of your hard work in a scrap yard run! Really enjoyed 👍 👍

I'd recommend you remove the battery first to make sure no power is flowing through because its 240v inside that unit you don't want to get zapped

Is it even worth scrapping them? Seems like popping out the batteries and dumping the whole unit in the steel pile would give you a lot more time to pursue more lucrative scrap (if your yard will accept them like that)
