  • Here's a song that uses the sound of a hair dryer as the main audio source. I'm capturing and manipulating the audio in Ableton with a chain of stock effects and 3rd party plug-ins.
I decided to also add a bit of piano and vocals for some additional musical cues.
    3:48 Final Track
I also post a lot of fun stuff like this on my instagram! Check out my feed. / thesoundofmachines

This is awesome, it made me think of Amon Tobin. Great work!

There's a Nine Inch Nails song off of the album With Teeth that has a sound in it that to me sounds like someone pressing different speed settings on a blender with added delay and reverb. This video reminded me of that and it sounds really cool, lots of texture and texture is a hard thing to capture. Great job!.

I used to be into making strictly hip hop, but the older I get, and the more rap music changes, the less I care for the genre. I'm really starting to get into ambient and textural type music. I like the idea of doing things like this. I'm currently trying to build a synth/hardware setup. Unfortunately I don't have a huge budget, so I try to get a piece every month. So far I have an MPC Live 2, Korg Minilogue XD, Novation Launchkey, Zoom R24, and a Grand Canyon FX pedal. I would like to just load up on cheaper equipment, but I don't want a bunch of stuff that does the same thing. I've been thinking about get an analog multi-track recorder, just to get tape saturation in my recordings, but I think I may just buy a cheaper tape recorder for now. I've been checking out vintage recorders with pitch and speed etc.. They're reasonable in price. I've also been doing a little studying on DIY stuff. I'll be happy once I get a solid base. I wish I could sell the thousands of dollars worth of software I don't use, but software companies aren't very friendly when it comes to reselling their software.
