We claim to be so pro-family and so pro-child and no self respecting father or parent has done a single thing about this? What in the actual heck? Remember neighborhood watches?

This has been a problem in that area for many years, could say since the school was opened. The alternative route for these kids is to take the sidewalk along 5400 s. With recent road closures, 5400 south has become very busy. Both intersections students would have to walk past, have seen pedestrian deaths. The Unified police station is not far from this spot. It would make sense that the city of Kearns, Salt Lake County, the school district, the railroad company that hauls materials from the smelter once a day on the line, and the state would work together fund a pedestrian bridge with lights and cameras. Just an idea.

How have we lost our instincts to protect our young ourselves?

Guess what? Those students are still going to shortcut. We all know the perpetrators.

Or an organized neighborhood watch of legal citizens protecting their offspring?

Why are there no police sitting there in a car?

    • @valeriedouglas4400

Why are no parents with Constitutional rights to defend themselves and their children sitting there? Why have we as Americans become so complacent to crime?

Police don’t have to be the only sheepdogs and your children don’t have to be wolf food.

People would rather let children be the victims of gun crimes and hide behind police than organizing a neighborhood watch? They won’t put their own skins on the line for their offspring? What has happened to Americans?

So put police on the site and tell the school children to stay away and fence off the area 😂

Or parents and citizens with rights too? You and your offspring don’t have to become wolf food. Become a sheepdog! You have rights too and are protected by the Constitution and UT laws.

Funny thing. The area was fenced off 3 or 4 years ago on the taxpayers' dime. Within a week of completion, someone brought an angle grinder and cut a gaping hole in the fence.

first of all unless you fence off this path students are going to take it. secondly this comment section has it all wrong, we don’t pay any cops to sit in one spot all day. if you want to take that role into your own hands go ahead.

Consult a lawyer and protect your own children! Citizens in UT and the USA have rights too. We do not have to hand our children over to gun violence.

She has no business being a law enforcement.

And legal citizens have no right being parents if they can’t organize a simple neighborhood watch and put their own skins on the line to protect their own offspring in their own neighborhoods and backyards.

You’ve just been too wrongly conditioned to only depend on the police. Citizens have rights too.

First of all of course I have a problem with somebody being robbed but whoever the news source is when they print the border on the bottom of their screen and they say students being robbed by school. Shouldn't that say students being robbed near school? It's a little misleading isn't it?
