    These are his guidelines:
    1. Explore everywhere, talk to everyone, go back to places you have already been to, etc. There are many great sidequests, you can obtain different pokemon at different times, etc.
    2. Torchic with Speed Boost can help you through the game, it is practically the best starter, so it can be a crutch for beginning players.
    3. Mining is in this game, it is your life, you can easily miss the mining kit, he explains how to get it at 4:50. You can get countless important items such as Heart Scales, get plates, fossils, the odd keystone, you can change your pokemon's natures with heart scales through the Pokemon Psychologist.
    4. It is okay to be picky about IV's, EV's and Nature. His standards are a decent(not harmful) nature and 10 IV's in every relevant stat. You can get berries that reduce EVs such as attack for a special attacker so you can get decent stats.
    5. The gym battles have some of the most difficult gym battles due to the field effects, gym leaders having 6 pokemon, and strong pokemon. Sometimes the "answer" is nearby the gym, so don't wait for luck or brute force a gym. For example, can get a Phanpy right outside the poison type gym and get a water type Rhyhorn right before the Fire gym. Look for solutions.
    6. Be prepared to train more than 6 pokemon. The better pokemon tend to come in events and later. Certain pokemon will be dead weight in certain gyms, so feel free to rotate them out with others. This can pay off later and save you a lot of trouble.
    7. This is more minor than the other tips. Hidden, invisible items are common, so feel free to mash A anywhere you go. They are typically on areas that are hard to get to that look like nothing is there, isolated rocks, empty corners, etc.

I think the biggest tip is to think about 6v6 team chemistry. Don't have all powerhouses on your team, have 1-2 tank pokemon and 1-2 pokemon that are good for hazards (and if possible one that has rapid spin.) Your best starters are gonna probably be torchic for fire, froakie for water, and snivy for grass so consider an ideal team comp for you when choosing. Lastly, I can't stress this enough, EV TRAIN, PLEASE! At low levels it doesn't mean much but it will work you wonders late game

Great video covering all the tips and what a great community spreading their ideas and tips in the comments, so I wanted to add mine.
The comments had a lot of stuff that I was thinking and the Blaziken set up thing is HUGE, but there is something I also find very important! ABUSE HAX AND CHEESE! For example, I like to use Ampharos with T-wave and confuse Ray then switch to my Blaziken or simple Swoobat to set up A LOT. Also moves like cotton spore and bulldoze which slow enemies is important to allow my hard hitting mons to finish off enemy sweepers. Then my ultimate cheese is if there is one mom I just can’t bear than Sharpedo Destiny Bond is broken!
Ex) SPOILER!!! I thinks it’s Solaris who has the lv75 Garchomp when you are capped at 45 and I used a sturdy Golem bulldoze, focus sash ampharos cotton spore and Sharpedo D-bond and bam easy game.
I’m prepared to switch Pokémon out or train more but so far abusing hax, cheese and set up makes the game pretty easy!
Shoutout to my team: Blaziken, Garbodor, Swoobat, Golem, Amphiros and Sharpedo!
Things I wanna repeat that I saw is abuse Pick Up and payday if possible!
Only use Pkmn with beneficial or neutral natures.
Super strong Pokémon aren’t really available, but a team of Pokémon that is balanced is almost necessary (walls, wall breakers, hax, and sweepers)
I personally click A on every rock for items.
Save and soft reset ALL the time loool
This was probably too long but thanks for reading!
Pls share any more ideas in my thread THANK YOU!

Personal Tip #8: Nature Power. You get the TM for this after beating Florinia, and it can be one of the most versatile moves in the game. In every field, it gets buffed, usually quite heavily, and there's a lot of situations where it can absolutely destroy things. Particularly in the Factory Field, it turns into a Base 200 Gear Grind. Base 200 Power. And you fight in this field quite a lot. I run this move on my Lilligant alot, and even with a modest nature and 0 attack ev's, that Gear Grind takes lives. Once you know which move you get in which terrain, you can really start steamrolling some enemies with it. Unfortunately, this doesnt work too well with most Gym Leaders, but its still nice to have.

Helpful tips. I traditionally don't shift my team around very much (I don't use the first 6 pokemon i find, like you were mentioning; I craft a team to cover itself depending on what's available early and mid game), as I normally would try and muscle my way through. As I write this, I've muscled my way through with my team through Aya's gym (with many issues). I may make minor shifts if I have too many issues, but I normally find a strategy with each gym that works, just takes a few different attemps (and luck) to make work.

You can obtain Type: Null by completing a side quest in 7th Street where you need to give a cientist a Carvanha, a Unfezant and a Luxray, then she will make the Type: Null. You can obtain Poipole in Agate City by completing the Pokédex with every non legendary/mythical pokémon (since in Ep. 18 every pokémon that is not legendary/ mythical is available) the only special pokémon available up to now are Type: Null, Silvally, Phione, Poipole and Naganadel.

I would recommend getting a destiny bond Pokemon and a reliable ground type and grass type Pokemon. Water Pokemon seemed obsolete once you had some good electric and ground type Pokemon. Don’t get all out attackers, personally I used tangrowth and alola-muk to tank a lot of hits so I could revive other Pokemon. Also having a solid team of 10 Pokemon is useful. Doubles battles are common and I truly believe they’re the hardest so be prepared for getting Pokemon that work as a good doubles pare. In the Grand Hall (I think it’s called) there are some trainers that you can endlessly fight and they dish out a good amount of experience and money. Learn how to destroy gym environments! Tailwind and Earthquake are good moves. Moves like electric and grassy terrain are useful, but are temporary and gym battles are not that fast due to them having 6 Pokemon. Natures, EVs, and IVs are important. That’s basically the most important things I found in my two playthroughs.

I dunno, I started with Froakie myself and grabbed an Ability Capsule to Protean, he's pretty solid so long as you make certain to control it's type swapping well. It gets Psychic/Normal/Dark/Water/Rock easy enough, and I'd imagine if we can find the TM's it can get Grass/Ice/Poison/Flying as well.
Another one to consider is Contrary Snivy, since the enemy team is great at stat reducing and it can turn into an end-game sweeper with Leaf Storm when you get to high levels. Also, it can be given Nature Power. Nature Power is plausibly the best Move in Reborn, it is seriously great due to how it changes to the move that best fits any Field you are in, ensuring you can always attack with incredible power. For sheer versatility, starters who can learn Nature Power are brilliant (all Grass starters+Cyndaquill).

As for Snivy, it's really good in the battles you can use it, but early game it's pretty meh aside from being a fast sub-seeder and once you get leaf storm there's still the problem of Serperior's ass base 75 sp.atk. even full investment modest doesn't get all the ohkos it needs at just +2. combining it with hazards+roar/whirlwind/dragon tail is really good tho

The thing with Swampert, or any water type starter for that matter, is that it's pretty much useless for both the first and second gyms and therefore not a good choice for someone who's just starting out with these kinds of games. Besides being a late game threat AND a potential Mega Evolution, Speed boost Torchic will help get them through the earlier portion of the game, where good Pokemon are rare/non-existent.

um, it's a ground type, how tf is it useless in Julia's gym lol
Also early game has plenty of gems, espurr, munna, rattata (plenty of places to manually trigger guts), shinx, snubbul, etc, and marshtomp has better matchups against more early game gyms actually, being able to abuse shelly's rain instead of being hampered by it, better against shade and corey, solos julia ez.

If you are really having a hard time, download the sandbox mod. The cap level is still active, but you can build a great team from minute 0 and it saves you a lot of time. You can choose how much you use it to decide de difficulty yourself (I used it to EV train, because is something you can do at any point, but takes a lot of time)

For the grass gym the bug type kricketune absolutely saved my life. I kept spamming fury cutter and then just 1 shot like 3 quarters of her team. Having that bug type was so useful lol. Also for me the battle to actually challenge florintine with fern was actually so much harder than flobot herself. Also that bouncy pokemon with poison heal was so annoying in the beginning.

    I have a tip too:
Take those Swirlix and Glameow when you can.
Swirlix has Fake Tears and Play Nice, combined to a stab fairy Wind on the Misty Field. (Until Nidorino is on, that thing easly sweeps Cain in Coral Ward.)
    Glameow tho, has Hypnosis.
Combined to Swirlix, those two together in doubles really do a nice duo of Lowering Stats + Sleep.
It may not seem like it, but they're Amazing in early game.

As a pokemon Reborn Vet this is pretty spot on, though one more tip that not many people do that bugs me should be said. Especially early game, have a pokemon with pickup, it will get you supplies to where you don't need to buy anything, heartscales will be abundant, money wont be an issue, and you can easily change it's ability later on if you aren't satisfied enough. I always look for that pickup meowth (Hopefully with payday as well) or the teddiursa. It's just useful with so many cool items, especially early on access to dusk balls and blast powder.

I very highly doubt it's going to be removed entirely lol. Maybe it will be moved to a later point (Azurine Island is probably too early with Leech Life involved), but outright removing a 'mon with 90 base attack, 70 base special attack, and meh bulk for having a decently powerful lifesteal and good typing is kind of absurd. good ideas i personaly did the whole game till i was able to get the 3 pokemon i wanted with less pokemon so i dont see why ppl struggle (for example till i get ralts i had 3 pokemon only raticate luxray and blaziken and ye blaziken is rly strong but i gotta say the part where he came most in handy was in the fighting gym where he just bulk up and power through)
oh and here is 2 more tips that could help u if u have problems at the very start if u cant for whatever reason power though the game catch a raticate (with guts and adamant if u have the patience i did that) u can get facade and once he has that u can go get poisoned or burn or something and power though the gym luxray can also do that with guts and facade both rly good pokemon toget
another tip i want to share is where to train EVs seem like my friends who played with me couldnt find a rly good spot so here it is
if u looking for attack , sp attack u can get those from that park at obsidia (ibelive thats the name if not its the park on that park of the city where the road is broken) right after u finish fighting that tangela u can train there its easy and the pokemon center is rly closeby
if u looking for speed the best place is inside that cave u can see some pokemon flying way up they are lvl 5 and all give speed EVs u can get the first 2 and then go out of the screen to reset it and get bk in easily done
for the rest rly i never looked becouse my team is full of attackers but hp u can also find a bit at the place where u find attack and sp attack ones
also save before mining always becouse the items u get arent fixed! not even the amount so u could get once 2 items and then if u reload it could be 5
thats all im thinking rly oh and here is a good suggestion for a pokemon IF u pick to side with the aqua team once the leader is gone u can fish on that pond behind him and catch carvanhas that evolve to sharpedo one of the best pokemon there is it can learn ice fang , aqua jet(later replace with waterfall) , poison fang and cruch rly good pokemon if u use it correct
another weird but awsome pokemon is octillery.... ye u can get that later in the game from a fountain in the city with the teleportation and even tho its slow its powerfull ! try to get it with sniper too and u can do some amazing staff he can learn ice beam and sludge wave too! if u go for it with sniper get focus energy and u can later get scope too anyway have fun!

sp. atk: most easily obtained from pyrous mountain, 49% chance to find something that gives sp. atk evs
attack: from rooftop garden or, if it's night, the garden in the peridot ward which is full of bug types (pretty sure that's something like an 80% chance to find something that gives attack evs)
      speed: from where u mentioned
defense: I think the rebattle-able Magcargo in pyrous mountain give 2 defense evs? if not then idk
sp. def: I think citae d'arc has wild Drowzee and Hypno, but there's certainly better areas
hp: I have no idea of the best spot but it's anywhere but where u mentioned lol

If your getting trouble with Field effects just use pokegear's field effect option to get knowlege about which moves are good in which Field and which are not. one more thing pokemons in reborn are easier to train so dont be picky about level grinding every gym have a great level gringing area just look for it.

  • @blafoon93
    @blafoon93 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Reborn has gotten a lot easier than when I first touched it but it's still a very demanding game with loads of enjoyable battles. I love the much improved battle AI, it makes a lot of moves that reduce stats or apply status effects with delay (such as yawn) a lot less useful but it gives you a bigger challenge in exchange.
The best tips I can give are to study up on field effects and to always have two tanks in your team, they will be invaluable to buy you time to heal up the rest of your team in important battles or to set up favourable field effects and status the enemy team. You will need about 4 to 5 tanks in total to have a good type spread just like you should have at least 10 damage carry pokemon.

The first gym was not hard or easy, but it was the creators saying: Hey, this is the kind of stuff your gonna be up against, be prepared to change teams.
And i did change my team when i battled Corey, changing Kricketune for Foretress was the best dissension of my playtrough, it its completely immune against his poison moves, and is very tanky in the defense part. only Pokemon i had trouble against with Foretress was Skuntank which had Incinerate, but my Donphan had no trouble magnitudeing this thing. Skrelp was luckly not able to do anything when i nuzzled it with pachirisu (Which i named Se Jun after Se Jun Park which use pachi in 2014 VGC and won with it). Croagunk was one shotted with Donphan, so i had no trouble with it (Before i used Noibat to combat its fighting type, but it hit hard back with venoshock and almost killed it, then tried suckerpunch. Corey did this everytime so i used roost instead of an attacking move so his suckerpunch failed and it saved Noibat with some health left) Mareanie is a great challenge to beat, since if Skrelp did not get his toxic spikes up, you can still get poisoned by the seed thingy Mareanie gets. Now Crowbat is probably the hardest mon i have ever battled in my entire life, it is fast, hard hitting and gets boosted by the corrosion field.
This right here is what Pokemon should be, giving gym leader hard ass balls to beat teams and having to switch out Pokemon that would do no good in the battle, of course, its still a game that is popular with kids, and should give a fair fight. (Maybe make a insane mode where everything becomes hard as metapod using harden.)

Pro tip for mining: Save before you mine and only keep revives, plates, and fossils. Everything else forget. You can buy most of this stuff later in the game and it isn't very useful anyway like the iron ball. Shards? You can find them all over the ground and there is a point in the game where you can literally beat a guy over and over again and each and every single time you beat them they give you a shard of a random color and money. Might be a good idea to get a few Heart Scales but otherwise only revives, plates, and fossils.

You mentioned Torchic, but what about Pachirisu? Sure it can't setup and take down everything in its path, but it makes that so much easier with Nuzzle and Charm, and having the Pickup ability. Pickup in general is good, but Pachirisu is easily the best early game Pickup mon to get this. Make sure it has some decent bulk and make sure its nature doesn't lower its speed and your good to go.
I make a point to use different Pokemon in each of my Reborn save files, but I just can't let go of Pachirisu. It actually makes everything so much easier, especially when it picks up a convenient item you'll definitely need later.

I was a bit disappointed you couldn't get a ground type before the first gym. I'd call that a design mistake (It would never happen in a mainline game) but I did without.
Right now I'm headed to the second gym. I was very lucky to find a Mankey with Excellent IVs and the best nature. Didn't even have to look for it, it was just the first Mankey I caught, so I'm confident for gym 2.

+Hamza Kahled Isn't Chimchar literally found after the end of the current release though? Like, post-Adrienn? If this were E17 already I'd totally agree but as it is Chimchar is post-game content...
Never used Snivy myself; seems like it would have a weak early game. Its Grass/Normal coverage can only go so far.
Torchic is arguable due to previously mentioned reasons.
Froakie having STAB on everything is awesome but it doesn't actually hit all that hard until you can get a Life Orb so I'd argue that it's in the same position as Snivy.
-besides none of them are better than Granbull so it's irrelevant anyway ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)-

    • @mercurius1877
      @mercurius1877 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Aye, Chimchar can be found at the end of the current release I think. Speed boost Blaziken would be
awesome in-game if you could teach it protect to get a free speed boost. Blaziken's natural speed is mediocre and its defences are pathetic, leaving it vulnerable to one-hit KOs. Baton pass would also be cool when combined with bulk up + speed boosts to turn your lesser pokemon into sweepers.
I think it's a shame you get Feebas so late. Milotic is extremely useful in this game .

    • @necrobonesgaming2424
      @necrobonesgaming2424 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Exactly why I can't wait for Protect. Blaziken could _really_ use that - it would be easily better than Infernape if it had it. 130 base attack and High Jump Kick is scary with just 80 speed; never mind essentially getting ~125 base speed for free!
Milotic is one of my favourite 'mons, shame we a) can't get Ice Beam (can we?) on it and b) get it post-Waterfall :(
      -at least we have Granbull-

Tl:DR: Don't catch audino, get the magnetic lure. --- Another thing i like to point out, at least is how I'm managing having a good variety of pokemon leveled up enough so I can switch teams around to face each gym etc... is the magnetic lure + audino areas. There's various zones where audino spawn wich is the regular pokemon that more exp yield in the game besides chansey and if you give magnetic lure to your lead pokemon only pokemon that you have not registered in the pokedex yet will spawn. I go to a patch where audino spawns, I catch every pokemon I haven't registered in my pokedex yet except audino so now every encounter is audino for the rest of the game as long i don't catch audino. Then I put my least leveled pokemon as alead with magnetic lure, the i give a pokemon I'm leveling still but can one shot the audino the lucky egg and a 3rd still leveling pokemon (usually the utility pokemon that would have a hard time one shoting the audino) gets the exp. share. You can level up pokemon pretyy quick with this method wich is very nice since sometimes you have that 2 or 3 pokemon that would be nice for the next gym but you haven't touched those in a while ans are 10 or 20 levels behind, or worse you just breed them, doing this combined with of course with the smart of use XP candies will pay off greatly. You get the magnetic lure early in the game in the Beryl Ward giving the guy that asks for money 6k if i recall properly but I'm not sure.

The only thing that makes this game so difficult is the multitude of added elements that force unnatural difficulty. If you remove just one element (field effects, health items for gym leaders) it's a hard game. With all of those things together it's a try-hard game, like rubberbanding in 2K MyCareer. It's really unfortunate, cause otherwise it would be a great game. (This works in reverse, too, though. For example, I beat one gym leader by accidentally transforming her field into my advantage and it didn't even feel like a real win. The only fun part to me is leveling up Pokemon through the sort of zombie-style resources-from-scratch nature that the game has with team building.)

    • @bananatassium7009
      @bananatassium7009 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I know this is a very late reply, but I disagree. A lot of the game is trying to be creative with your solutions. If you really think outside the box as to what will allow you to beat that super difficult battle, it becomes a game about trying to find clever solutions to problems rather than brute forcing.
You also say that it's forced unnatural difficulty- Yeah. And? It's a pokemon game. If you're looking for a game that doesn't have forced unnatural difficulty, pokemon fan games are not right. No matter what you make, the basic fact is that it is a pokemon game and that makes the difficulty feel artificial. Pokemon games are pretty much built to be easy, so the fact that Amethyst was able to make a game around the concept and not make the difficulty to artificial is pretty commendable. And when it comes down to it, most difficulty is artificial in games so again I don't see why that should be a complaint. It only rarely flips something you thought you knew on your head, and in most cases where it does the game will seed hints that it will happen.
Another thing is that the game lets you naturally choose your difficulty. Want to have a fairly easy time throughout most of the game? Choose torchic. The game really does let you make your own difficulty if you are willing to try.
The way you describe the game makes it sound like you would have the most fun in a game where you brute force and don't use strategy, in which case, again, I would suggest a different game.

@@Meteorknite 1. The game is not 'scripted' in any sense. Every battle is legal in the sense that with the ground rules that are given, everything makes sense. If a pokemon lands flinches or goes first unnaturally, it is always within the rules of the game. I have played the game through to the end three times and everything was always explainable through field effects.
      2. Blaziken is the best for the combonation of early bulk up and speed boost. This basically allows you to freely set up a few bulk ups on just about any physical attacker, and sweep teams constantly. This combined with it's incredibly diverse and powerful movepool makes it just about objectively the best starter. Charmander is likely second/third best (possibly behind Froakie) because of dragon rage allowing you to annihilate early game, and Cyndaquil is probably solid as well, but in general, Blaziken is fantastic and putting it any lower than second place in starter rankings would feel decidedly biased or inexperienced, if you ask me. Just try playing the game with a Torchic as a starter and you'll see what I mean.

As a veteran who beat Pokemon Reborn already and plan to play it again, I wanted to ask some questions.
Considering that I played episode 17 where the AI was improved, dificulty increased and money is way more scare, is pokemon hardcore still more dificult?
I tried to peek into movies introducing Hardcore, but was discourage when I saw a trainer using lv 75 legendary pokemon out of nowhere at the start of the game. (While I like fighing well balance and strong teams, I really dislike single pokemon OP bosses that you can defeat only with sturdy/flash strategy or pokemon with intimidate and a bunch of revives.
That's why I wanted to ask. Since I plan to move over 8 well prepared pokemon (that are already IV and EV trained) with good moves, would using such team on hardcore give me better experience? Or is hardcore filled with unfair OP bosses like super high legendaries and nothing more? Is it better to wait for episode 18 for a replay or simple play episode 17 again? Or is hardcore more dificult while not relying so heavy on OP bosses out of nowhere and won't throw in pokemon that story-wise would make no sense for trainers using them?

    • @LordWallace
      @LordWallace  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Ok I'm really late in seeing this but Hardcore has been discontinued as far as I know so it only covers up to Episode 16. It has optional super bosses but in general it's pretty lore friendly and most of the difficulty comes from restrictions like not being able to use items in battle and amped up enemy teams . I'd recommend it

    • @kmpgos4158

I actually went for Pokemon Reborn Redux instead, and I must say, it's really chalenging.
I used mod for shared box to transfer my breeded/EV trained team over (after lowering their levels with common candy), and it still kept dificulty spiced up early on (and very challenging later in the game).
With not only bosses, but also regular trainers having way stronger teams and new strategies, it become a very fun run (and since Redux doesn't allow pokemon to level up over their badge cap, I don't need to worry about it). Also, with stronger and more competitive trainers, my team level up fast, so no need for grinding, so that's nice too.
As for the party system, I found it useful only to use HM/TM like rock smash, surf, dive and so on. Training more than one team would be just too overwhelming.

Legit the hardest Pokémon game I have ever played. I seriously have around 30 Pokémon trained up to go up against different teams (i.e. Prankster Murkrow with Perish Song does wonders with a lot of the single Pokémon battle events. I have a few terrain changers, several tanks, couple weather changers, a dozen different sweepers, etc...). Mining in the beginning is a life saver. Since you can't buy revives (unless you're willing to spend 5000 each for a candy item that revives fallen Pokémon), I tend to save before each mining rock for revives. Gym battles are ferocious. They tend to be near your level cap and are wicked fast (I have a Jolteon with a Timid nature and like, 28 EV in speed and it gets outsped), so paying attention to nature, IV's, and EV's are almost a must. It's a very difficult game, and yet you can add to that difficulty with their Nuzlocke mode. Very well designed and well-made fan game.
