In that case, here’s what I think of which starters I would choose: Greninja (protean) Cinderace (Libero) Blaziken (Speed Boost) Serperior (Contrary) Incineroar (intimidate) Swampert (just a great all-around Pokémon)
@@serpentGG Serperior's hidden ability, Contrary, reverses stat changes. While it's level up moves like Coil and Growth lowers your stats instead, Leaf Storm will raise your special attack by 2 stages, but it learns that move somewhat late. Serperior is good, but it won't be able to harness its potential early game.
@@chilup2007 aye ik what contrary is I play a lit of competitive lmao I was just asking will it be fine considering the story challanges?also is it guaranteed that serperior will have contrary when I choose the starter?or can it be some other ability?
@@serpentGG If you got a Snivy from the starter selection room but had Overgrow instead, you can soft reset until you get one that has Contrary. It's kinda good early game, where the AI uses stat lowering moves, not realizing it will help you.
I'd argue Litten/Incineroar aren't a valuable choice (still a good mon) as Growlithe/Arcananine are available fairly early in both games and arguably fill the same roll. (Arguably better) Which allows you to take a Water/Grass starter that are stronger than any other available mon of their respective type
Fairly early? Arguable in Reborn (although having it locked behind PULSE Tangela does not help), but Rejuvenation won't give it to you until Terajuma, that is pretty far past the point where it is useful to base your type around. I'd still say picking a fire starter is still viable.
When I started my reborn run I debated using mudkip or oshawott, I picked oshawott since I haven’t used it in any other game and I kinda regretted it. Mudkip and it’s evolutions are just too good
my Snivy did wonders for me in reborn. even not fully evolved, contrary is an amazing ability of you need to fend off some intimidate users or other mons with stat lowering strats I picked sheer force Totodile in Rejuvenation because I know from my previous playthrough how deadly dragon dance Feraligatr can be with the crest they gave it I didn't know about coil doubling in grassy terrain. interesting
squirtle got shell smash at around level 30 in gen 8 sooo.... things in rejuv might be different for it now edit: i finished watching the video. i need to drop the habit of commenting during watching.
Grooky/Rillaboon would probably be number 1 if it still had access to Grassy Glide, and I kinda wish it did. Oh well, maybe it'll get it back in a later update. It's still really good mon though.
And then Reborn added a move tutor for giga drain that you can only access by picking a grass starter, making the other types inherently worse. Still find it weird that there isn't an equivalent tutor for water and fire types.
I simply picked swampert for my first playthourgh of the game, mainly because: 1- Least amout of weaknesses. 2- I love swampert. Yes, grass types say hi, but i have both a Vikavolt and Talonflame on the team….. so yeah.
I would lower snivy a bit since its too much of a burden to have to babysit it until it gets its evolution, also primarina should be upper in the scale
Yeah IMO snivy is mostly a gimmick. Before leaf storm it's very bad, and you have to choose between giving up servine and getting the funny leaf move pre-kiki, and actually using servine and getting it so late it's irrelevant, as Serra, Charlotte, and Ciel laugh at you for bringing a Pokemon with mono grass coverage. Like, I just don't think it's worth the pick versus say Typhlosion, who is in a similar boat of being kinda meh early, but can be a generic fast fire with nature power in the meantime.
Samurott would be the absolute best IF the Crest actually worked with it's Hisuian Form, but alas, it only applies to base form (could you imagine though, guarantied crits on sword moves with Sharpness, it would literally tear anything apart)
So-and-so way. At first, he was getting killed in almost every battle. Pretty soon, he became a beast, defeating every other trainer's Pokemon. I currently have him in storage because I'm about to fight Corey in Beryl Ward, and then I have to deal with Shelly in the Lapis Ward. I still have strong Pokemon on my team and PC that can deal with both of them.
As much of a risk as i feel it may be, imma be Goin all in with Squirtle my next playthrough. Always liked the idea of an underdog type mon hitting as hard as the ''best'' starters. just hope i can hold my own with it through the game tho
I picked CinderAce and that boy is a NUKE, I'm finally getting to finish the game because it stopped breaking on me after the last update. Playing with CinderAce has made the game a BLAST!
I believe youtube auto-deleted your other comment, which was an insightful one! Nature power typhlosion is quite interesting and would certainly place it over some of the lower tier grass starters for reborn! In Rejuvenation, nature power is a bit late in the game, I believe even later than eruption. Nevertheless, it's a great mention and I'd pin this if it wasn't a reply.
For my first run in Rejuv v13 (decided to go with casual because intense killed me last time), I decided to run Sobble (rolled a decent IV spread and made it Timid) since I wanted to try something new and utilise as many Galar pokemon as possible - It was between Sobble and Grookey (I know Scorbunny is godly but I like using Hidden Abilities and _hate_ the Protean/Libero fuckery) but Rillaboom is too slow and I like my Leavanny - and it did _not_ disappoint. Ridiculously fast and hits like a semitruck but kind of a one-trick pony and can barely live a hit. Perfect for revenge killing and can one shot a lot of things, especially if you pull off a lucky crit with that sweet sweet Sniper ability. As for moveset, it doesn't get much but it doesn't need much - I make great use of Snipe Shot, kept Tearful Look for quite long, had something for coverage that I never used and, strangely enough, Whirlpool turned out to be more useful than I would have guessed. Surely a very pleasant surprise from a mono Water type!
Was trying to decide on a starter for rejuvenation. I really wanted Snivy cause I always picked fire starters and the contrary play sounded fun. But all the guides for the main games were saying he's one of the worse starters with bad stats. I didn't know what balance changes were in the game though. Do you really need to hold off on leveling though? Does that lower it's stat potential? If it was just for 5 levels I'd understand but waiting till past level 40 seems like a lot.
About leveling- it's best to hold off, but if you don't want to then snivy will be perfectly fine. You will just have to use a heart scale or two for the move later on.
I'm a little late but you can do one of two things 1. Do what was suggested in the video and hold off from evolving snivy for early game Leaf Storm. This does prevent you from using it however. If you do want to use Snivy then there's option 2 2. Just use overgrow snivy until you get Leaf Storm, then use an ability capsule. Snivy gets access to both coil and growth which are great set up moves, but with contrary they become null and void. By holding off contrary until you get access to Leaf Storm, Snivy gets a lot more mileage in game.
man, wish I saw that snivy tip a little earlier...for some reason I remember to not evolve servine until it learns giga drain, but brain farted for snivy. I blame this on being overly focused on beating Venim.
Absolutely not! Fennekin is a great starter, make sure it has the Magician hidden ability and you'll be good to go. It can steal items from enemy pokemon- handy as it removes their advantage and give it to you!
Pokemon reborn spoilers I used torterra in reborn and nearly beat Solaris's garchomp without super cheesey strats I think I tanked a fire fang used Grassy terrain, switched to Mushrana and yawned it following up with a few ice beams from Vanilluxe which only didn't kill it cause I think my vanilluxe didn't have snow warning, but then I just got deleted after it woke up and fire fanged basically my entire team lmao
While I agree that samurott is pretty low on the tier list for reborn, shell armor is a way better ability than torrent because you don’t have to worry about crits even if the mon can’t set up. Plus I think it’s too frail to benefit off of torrent often enough for it to matter
The issue with shell armor is not that it's a bad ability, it just doesnt do much for samurott specifically. It works for torterra because torterra has the bulk and reliable buffing with curse to make crit negation matter and EQ by on evolution to make up for the lack of an 'actually good ability'. Samurott just isn't bulky enough to make use of crit-negation, and excluding early razor shell (which alone carries it for the first few gyms) is too weak to make up for not having a good offensive ability like blaziken/serperior/greninja/feraligatr.
Wow. Of all the starters I could've gotten through the RNG Machine in Reborn for my Mono-Region run, it turns out to apparently be the worst one out of all of them. Then again, beforehand knowledge of this wouldn't have changed anything anyway since I've never been one to worry about what Pokemon are considered good or bad anyway, so eh.
whelp... just saw 1 minute of this video... now I'm glad I quit Reborn. I chose Oshawott as my starter and yet of course I chose "one of the worst ones" kind of wish the first gym was "normal type" so that it would make the first starter matter less and make it more of an enjoyable experience. But eh.... you gotta give certain pokemon more praise.... that they already get in the mainline games.
In that case, here’s what I think of which starters I would choose:
Greninja (protean)
Cinderace (Libero)
Blaziken (Speed Boost)
Serperior (Contrary)
Incineroar (intimidate)
Swampert (just a great all-around Pokémon)

Yessir!
I went with sobble with sniper ability. Love one shotting foes with snipe shot. Hope it gets the gigamax form soon.

I mean bulk up speed boost blaizkien is pretty damn good since I used one in rejuvenation
It basically sweeped almost every single battle

Litten is really underrated, Intimidate on a starter + solid bulk and move set

you can get hisuian form on rejuv?
For Scorbunny you mentioned changing fields. Is this mainly/just with bounce? (Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm pretty new to Rejuvenation)
Bounce, this game has a lot of important mountain / sky fights!
They really removed Blastoise's mega stone from Rejuvenation since the gen 8 update. Shell Smash Mega Blastoise would be absolutely disgusting!
I couldn't decide on what Pokemon to choose for Reborn, so I did a randomizer wheel that landed on Treecko. Really fun from there on out...
