Perhaps the only tune I have heard that approaches Coltrane's Kulu Se Mama in terms of a song taking us on a musivcal journey.....what drama !!.............the ability of these musicans to create something like this is mind boggling
Sounds like perhaps you've rarely or never listened to Sun Ra's music. Because, pretty much everyone here has, or has had an affiliation of sorts with Sonny. Including Eric Dolphy, Pharaoh Sanders, and 'Trane himself.
I heard this on the radio this morning, lucky me. They don't play experimental jazz so I listened to the end, awesome!
This is what my mother and father had playing in the house back in the day…round 1970 or 71…
