It is AMAZING to see all these factory chassis rifles!! Ruger started it, now you have Howa, Winchester, Tikka, Savage, and Mossberg. Can't believe Remington is still behind the ball on this one. The competition is amazing though!!
Can't wait to see you review this. If I heard that correctly, under 1200 for basic black model. Love to see that and what the rifle can do in 6.5 creedmoor
Hollywood6394 - Minus the scope, I built mine for $900. I got the MDT chassis and the Howa 6.5 Creedmoor barreled action from Brownells: about $450 ea. Of course, the scope was no minor expense. But if you can be happy with something that sells for $300 ...!
Are you ever going to post an indepth review this HCR rifle or another Howa configuration? Looking forward to your professional opinion on the adjustable trigger and overall quality.
Everyone wants to be a star, you handled the situation way better than I would have - way better. Keep the videos coming look forward to the next one - even with a "wantobe" in the background.
I have a 1500 I've been looking to turn into a trainer. Everything I've read says Howa REALLY puts the barrel on and it takes a gun smith to get it off. =/
Rob Feldt -Howa has been putting Nikko-Stirlings on their package 1500s. That looks like their logo. The high variable is - I think - 4-16x or 6-18x. The budget version is a 3-10x. I went with just the barreled action on my chassis build, but my .308 White Tail 1500 came with the 3-10x. I never even tried it, but then I saw some really good reviews on the upscale scope. I dunno ...maybe it’s an exceptional scope, but Nikko-Stirling ‘s reputation isn’t A list.
+wingding028 it does not appear that the chassis is available separately at this time. You may want to contact Accurate-mag to see if they plan to offer it in the future.
Keep in mind you are at shoot show.... you have your camera in the way of people. They payed good money to looking around just like you are. putting hands on him is the first no no. You want a interview with a someone get time up on the 3rd or 4th floor. I have a lot friends that if you put your hand on them they off. Next time thing of others and know they have the right to be there as well. love your show,
Bug Bear, keep in mind that SHOT Show is an Industry Trade Show, not a weekend gun show. You are not supposed to be there unless you are actually in the firearms business. People who are engaged in the business are MUCH more considerate and understand we all have work to do. I have been doing this for quite a few years now. I understand how to conduct my interviews and doing it in a poorly lit meeting room without the displays the companies have spent thousands of dollars on is not the way to do it. What I am going to have to do it get a shorter lens or hire grips to block traffic.
It's called "courtesy". Some have it, some don't. It's the same kind of thing that stops an uninvolved person from standing in front of a speaker when they are having a conversation with another person. The interfering individual does not have any "right" to the space. The company that entered into a contract with the NSSF has a "right" to the space and at that time they were utilizing their space in order to advertise their product with a media producer. Additionally, a Media badge gives me the authority to setup cameras and film on the SHOT Show floor. That is why I have to get a separate badge from exhibitors or buyers. Before you start talking about "rights" you may want to read the fine print on the agreements you enter into in order to walk around in a PRIVATE venue.
dalebfast don't worry, I didn't yell at the guy or anything. I was just a little irritated because we try to knock these things out in one take. It makes it so much easier when I am trying to get bulk videos edited.
The Howa HCR is an amazing platform -- this thing will eat through anything and is very accurate, even with cheap, steel-cased ammo. Here's what this beast sounds like an indoor range -- th-cam.com/video/yXHX5zslWnY/w-d-xo.html
Every booth you go to somebody has got to be filming. It is getting ridiculous. Every booth is got some youtube shooter hogging up the place. You people have ruined firearm shows.
You sir, have nailed the 1000 yard stare. I believe you were looking directly at his soul. bravo bravo!
i liked this video not only for the content but the awesome freeze frame at the end. made me lol

Blake Patterson Remington has had a chassis rifle for years now, it's just way over priced, they had it before Ruger did even.

Looks good esp for the price. The ones out currently don't look threaded yet.
kill mode engage on that guy haha.
Hopefully you guys get one to test long term. I am kind of interested in these entry precision guns.
Hahaha that guy at the end looks lost....I liked how he just walked in the frame....without having a clue, with his eyes wide open😆🤣😂😅
what is that tripod head the rifle is mounted too?
When I was filming at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month I had this happen to me EIGHT times! I even posted an outtake on Facebook for laugh.
It's pretty infuriating. I may actually change up how I shoot the show next year to go a little lighter and faster.
haha maybe you should get some of the mini traffic cones or some yellow "police caution" tape
howa is my favorite
How does this gun in .308 compare to the Remington 7005R .308 24”?
The closing killed me!! ROTFLMAO!!!
Your face when that guy walks by is hilarious. Some people... so oblivious haha
Lmao 🤣 the ending is epic

HA! Love the looks!!!

Dude I'm dying. You need to frame that shot. Did the camera catch his name?
I was waiting for the knife hands to come out.
that last picture got me good
Really want this review. Want 6.5 just for the sake of it and this is a price point I might be able to justify
Short or long action?
may be a dumb question but would this rifle be suitable for hunting?
beaux newman I'm thinking the same thing, they're at about 9lb's so I'd say yes if your cool with carrying that weight
maybe i missed it, but whats the aftermarket for barrels for this rifle and would a gunsmith have to make the swap?
I have a 1500 I've been looking to turn into a trainer. Everything I've read says Howa REALLY puts the barrel on and it takes a gun smith to get it off. =/
Hey John, any followups on your Remington 700 300WM and the Grayboe Renegade build coming up?
lol I wish I had waited to the end of the video to comment, I think I saw a vein in your head ready to rupture.
When are you going to review a Howa rifle??
Hopefully later this winter.
8541 Tactical yes...pls review the Howa HCR 6.5 creedmoor
Awesome! I just purchased a Weatherby Vanguard in .223. The action and receiver are Hows 1500. Can't wait for your review!
What tripod and ball head rig is that?
cruxord
Whats the twist rate on the 223?
That was the Mossberg Precision Rifle rep lol.
That there is an epic level death glare out the end. lol
what scope is on that?

A certain number of rude jerks walk the earth. You're restraint is admirable.
Is it just a 700 action?
It's a Howa 1500 action
Benoit Beaulieu No. Only thing similar is they both take Rem 700 two piece scope bases.
can you just buy the chassis?
+wingding028 it does not appear that the chassis is available separately at this time. You may want to contact Accurate-mag to see if they plan to offer it in the future.
ok thanx john
LMAO! Wow! That guy was on the good stuff. Sheesh...
Will they sell the chassis by itself?
DuckmanH hope so. i already have to many howas
he was from ruger? lol
I bet he walked through just for kick of it. He knew it. lol
I honestly think he just had NO situational awareness. Maybe he didn't realize the camera was rolling and just thought we were taking. I have no idea.
6 cm please......also, I can read your thoughts during the freeze frame = "two to the body, one to the head"
He says "it's really geared toward the entry level precision rifle competitor" and the Howa dude wanted him to just STFU.

HANDS OFF!!
Bug Bear Did you actually watch the video?
yes 3 time
People are in their own little world when they wander like that. Give him a break, his ol' lady might have just dumped him...
dalebfast don't worry, I didn't yell at the guy or anything. I was just a little irritated because we try to knock these things out in one take. It makes it so much easier when I am trying to get bulk videos edited.
Why did you hinder him walking by at your back, John? It´s not YOUR boot. Guys sitting and jabbering there didn´t disturb you either.
Cause its HIS video and HE is the director
Sure, but only in his private/companies rooms but not in an public event like this.
"That guy", lol.
Coooooooool :):):)
btw, very good review.
is it me or did somebody almost get their ass whipped
Someone send him a HCR for a review please lol
300win...
Stop using the word tactical, it’s fucking up getting rifles into Australia.
Duh
