I am SO looking forward to an update with extra kits just so that I can see people genuinely respect this weapon instead of groaning every time they see it. Give it trizooka, or tacticooler, ink storm, ANYTHING but RPing a flyfish.
Yes, exactly. Hoping for new stringers besides the current two as well, but s new version of the reef would be awesome for this reason. It's really underrated because of it being pinned a missile spammer. Not effective use of it's potential.
When I first started playing the Reef Lux 450, II thought I was doing it wrong. I was agggressive. In the beginning of the game, I would pint the base, then I would move to mid ground and, whenever there was a opening, I would slide into enemy base so a downed teammate could hop on over. I am still learning about the game and i like the idea of forcing them to farm their specials in the middle of the state rather than at home. Thanks for the video.
You made reef-lux look so COOL for once thank god 😭. If you do main this weapon please give it a better reputation, because the ones ruining it are the tenta spammers and that’s just not how it’s supposed to be played and YOU showed me that. Absolutely Beautiful Edit: Spelling
@@Checkerchamp I agree, it is incredibly difficult to use this weapon. With an exception to e-liter and splat charger (and snipewriter I guess) it is the number 1 hardest weapon to use (at least in my opinion) when you are playing it as a sweeper/skirmisher. I can't give a perfect tip for getting better but the the best I have are 1. Horizontal Shot = Chip Damage (also recommend to use this when arcing your shots arcoss objects) Vertical Shot = OHKO 2. Short hop for vertical shots. This will reduce the amount of frames you are vulnerable mid-air. To do this, release the b-button as soon as you press it. Be warned, for an actual vertical shot and not a sideways one don't shoot until you are at the peak of your jump or are falling from the peak. 3. Aim a little higher than the center of an opponet. If you are used to aiming at opponents feet (you will likely have this problem if you main weapons like splattershot, sploosh, aerospray, etc. where the weapon often has rng issues.) when doing vertical shots. When shooting horizontally it's completely different where you need to imagine your shot hitting as close to the center point of your enemy as possible while predicting their movement (dw about doing this in your head, you're likely already doing this automatically, just be aware of this fact.) 4. You likely know this, but you can hold charges (and about 1 second too.) That is more than enough time to do a squid roll with a full charge if you ever need to get out of a sticky situation and don't have a good aim on that one slayer who just won't get off your ass. 5. Probably the most important one to me, but take your time and don't try to be snappy with aiming. Unlike charges enemies can't actually see your line of sight so you don't need to be super fast with aim, even under pressure. If you move too fast you will miss a lot more so try to focus at around the level you would for a charger on aim and watch your enemies movement patterns. Last thing to know is that you are likely going to lose far more confrontations than you win because killing with the reef-lux is SUPER hard. You basically need a shot even stricter than a charger on an enemy that is rushing at you or swimming side to side and you can only fire around once per second. With all of that in mind, you will probably lose 7/10 1v1s, and that's assuming you have top years of experience with this game (but when you do get that win it feels sooooo satisfying.) If you have any more questions or want some more advice just say so, hope this all helps you. I want to see this weapon get played more agressively myself and now that most people dropped it after the tenta missle nerf it's a great time to fix the reputation of this fun weapon.
@@jermm2183 I got the game for Christmas so I’m still getting used to the game (well the new functions at least: I had around 600 hours in Splatoon 2). However, I’ll keep as much of this as possible (especially the taking time under pressure point) in mind as I learn. Thank you so much for being so willing to help out!
Thank you! I love the Reef-lux 450, but at the same time I want to make sure that everyone else has fun. thanks to this video, I now know how I should improve my skills. I'll admit, I do have a bad habit of instantly sending out the missiles whenever I get the chance. Thanks to you, I know that I should start to use support strategies instead of trying to be on the offense. I also enjoy how chill you are compared to other players I've seen. I'm definitely subscribing, and I hope that you get more recognition ^^
As a reef lux main this was such a helpful video. A lot of others condemn us for having tenta missiles and then tell us to make sure we focus on inking to get them. Which is nerfed now with the new season update. Ninja squid was an amazing hidden gem I hadnt thought about and have been using VERY effectively, most teams I've matched with dont know what to do with a reef main whos not on base, and now they have less time to think about it because they couldnt see me coming
I made a Tri-Stringer video a while back. I almost exclusively played it getting to S+. So fun ^^ th-cam.com/video/s0Re_9c88hQ/w-d-xo.html Glad you liked the Reef-lux video ;)
I found the best time to use Reeflux is on Zones Mincemeat Metalsworks, you can charge curling bombs and send them across the zone and maybe even get some splats on opponents who drop down, and once you get contested you just climb up the ledge and continue to paint the zone from there.
Zones Mincemeat is a mess. You'll have Missile spam the whole time, zone capping 24/7, backlines that you cannot challenge. Easily one of the worse maps for zones ^^. On the very same stream I showcased the reeflux I played it, the weapon felt good with ninja squid, just bad map. Ironically, I find Reeflux to be mediocre in zones, since it can't challenge a lot up close. I find it better for "pushing" objectives or maps where you CAN push for Zones.
I LOVE the reef lux, i’ve once gotten 10 kills and zero deaths on a turf war game with it. I also enjoy your commentary of your decisions, both good and bad, over your gameplay. It really helps show examples of tips and strategies in game. Subbed :)
Reeflux is actually pretty fun once you get good with it. It’s an OHKO if you jump shot when charged and people seem to forget you can swim with a charged shot. This lets you take out chargers without them noticing you approaching. The one thing I miss is my charged exploding shots from the tri-stringer (which is probably my most played weapon this time round).
As someone who is newer to the franchise and currently best sports a B+ rank....new challenge for myself to try and improve my map awareness >_> time to enter the gauntlet
i was so insecure about going into the field to ink and not just staying in base to get ridiculous amounts of missiles, i'm glad to see i was actually playing kinda efficiently this whole time!! it really makes me appreciate my role and my growth ^^
I really did learn a bit! Been maining the reflux for a bit now and glad to know I'm getting my role down. Aggressive support feels better than any backlining to me lol
You should become a Reef-Lux main, controlling the field feels nice :) Love the support role. I've been having fun with the H-3 the other day and I also really like Squiffer. I play a lot like this but I'm still here to take notes and to improve. Definitely love Clam Blitz with Reef-Lux, such a quick weapon to create openings.
Well done, i appreciate the tone of your vid. I ran into the same problem... wanted to just raise it to 1 star freshness without farming, but ended up raising all the way to 3 in one gaming session. What can i say? When played right, it feels very... so very right! Keep up the good work, one more subscriber watching your way.
This is exactly how I felt reef-lux was meant to be played! Ive seen one of two people: Tenta Missile Spammers or people trying to play it like Tri Stringer or a long range charger when in reality its much more of a weapon thats best when it keeps the opponents on edge thanks to its great ink control and surprisingly good natural offense In my case, I just decided to use it with my main Inkbrush set (Swim Speed Up/Ninja Squid/Ink Saver Sub) as I really like the bows yet wanted something that was more active and in the field and Reef-lux felt better than I expected, specially with Ninja Squid As of this text, I decided to change sub saver for ink resistance as I find myself wanting to be more resilient when needing to push, but if it doesn’t end up helping me as much as I wish, sub saver will be my next focus as curling bombs are really good at poking and reaching places really fast
I love being an offense reef-lux user, it’s easy to learn how to splat with, and being in the background to splat others trying to sneak into less contested spots is always enjoyable. It’s also important to note that sticking to the background the entire time isn’t what I do, but I do ink quite a lot. It’s a genuinely fun weapon, but people spamming tenta Missiles ruin the weapon for soooo many people :/ (I’m a turf war player)
My first weapon I picked up was the Reeflux My child, even though the Enperry Dualies were my first 5 star. Frankly I am just an inker and will get kills when necessary
Quick tip for all u tri stringer mains out there. Don't use your favorite weapon on splatfest pro. You will be dodging missiles from 4 players the whole time.
I love the Tri-String, because of the explosives. The Reeflux looked always lame to me, because of that. Maybe I try it on the Splatfest, that or I use my support Gootuber. Both have the unethical missiles. 😏

But Reeflux has a good kit and most people wont use alternates
They should automatically, like the splatana
Which was already good the way it once was🤧
i think it already has a good support kit, but for a more agressive one, Torpedo + Inkstorm or Ultra Stamp
Burst/auto bomb and tri strike would probably be my ideal kit

I got a 12-2 game in a turf war if u want to see some reef-lux gameplay (no crazy snipes but a lot of skirmishing)
I’m trying to learn this weapon WITHOUT special spamming and it’s difficult so far but way more fun than just spamming missiles
