The sensitivity being comfortable bit is really important, I'm ADHD and *need* things to be as fast as my thought process but my friend who gets motion sick easily can't even watch me play. You definitely should go with what's comfortable over what anyone else plays. That said it's also true there's a bit of a discrepancy for different ranges of weapons. If you like playing high sensitivity and find you struggle with backlining, try pulling your sensitivity down. Similarly, if you play low sensitivity and struggle with short range over longer range, try pushing up your sensitivity. For instance, when playing frontline and midline weapons I use +5/+5 sensitivity, (I main Splash o Matic and Dualie Squelchers respectively) I like having the freedom and speed. But for backline (I like playing Hydra/Heavy Splatling and Chargers on occasion) I use -3/-3. Otherwise I don't change up my sensitivity and I can really feel the difference when I forget to adjust my sensitivity between weapon swaps, so no matter what it is make sure you're staying consistent and feeling comfortable

One thing I learned about shot leading is most of the time, if you line up the moving enemy with the white lines on the edge of the cross hair, you'll more than likely hit the shots. Obviously depends on the speed and weapon but I've noticed this with most weapons.

I don’t often have access to a monitor so most of my time is spent playing handheld with stick controls… I do wish there was a way to improve your aim with stick controls. I think something that would help me is if I could increase the sensitivity beyond the settings they have, I still feel slow with the stick sensitivity at max. For now I just choose weapons where perfect aim isn’t necessary 😅
yeah, unfortunately that is the whole problem with stick controls 😢 they’re just not fast enough when other players are using motion. it is a bit sad that nintendo made the options that way.. either use motion + sticks and have lightning speed turns. or use sticks only and move like a stick in the mud. it would be nice if they implemented flick stick controls but i don’t think they will
Ah i watched this video again and u mentioning smart tvs having a game mode which is so helpful. Im currently trying to get to S+ from A so thank u so much
I can aim pretty well and consistently with shooters and most other weapons. I main the charger but sometimes I feel like I can't aim my flick shots half time. I might be playing on too high of a sensitivity (+3.5 motion) but anything slower makes it hard to move my wrists all the way. I also have good days and bad days with the charger, would be nice to find a way to miss less of my shots. If you have any tips on how to steady your hands whenever you aim with a charger, that would be very nice.
I dont think ill ever get really great at aiming in this game (or at least it will take much longer). Because I noticed i have a tendency to be delayed in some actions. for instance. when ever i do the drills, ill go ahead and try to snap to targets and fire. and even though i might be aiming at a slower rate than I normally do. I still noticed that i can aim at a target and fire, but it might take me a solid second or 2 to realize that im targeting slightly off and im not actually hitting anything. even happens mid combat
i've been using stick when i play this game and it's true, I do think about the aiming and then the opponent gets me 😅 cause it really slows me down. thanks! :)
I use chargers and I had my motion sensitivity at 2.5 and R stick at 5. For fun I decided to put everything at max sensitivity to see how bad it was but uh... It *clicked* and now everything is just so much easier?? I found my preferred sensitivity by accident lol
I usually use the splattershot and alternate it with the hydra/chargers using 4.5 sens on both sticks and gyro. Works great with the first 2 but there's a little overshoot when sniping since the aim movement is so sudden. What do you think would be the best? Lowering it and relearning the muscle memory for the repeat weapons or just adjusting the muscle memory for chargers and accept that often shots on moving targets will be overshoot?
Using chargers is like playing a different game, so I think it could be ok to have 2 settings for sensitivity. I know people who switch between 2 sensitivities depending on weapon class.
hey Dude, do you have any tips to help me learn the squid roll better/surge? I've played both splat 1 and 2 but I'm struggling to learn the new movements... sometimes I just flat miss time it and jump before, but most of the time I don't flick far enough... I've been trying to learn them but can't seem to get any better at them. I also couldn't get a hang on Sub strafe, yet I can do the main strafe method just fine for some reason.... I've been an S+ rank player in every game never making it to X in splatoon 2 though.
@dude This one is pretty good, but with one problem for me personally. First off thank you for making this to help START getting used to motion. One problem I have with all videos available is the lack of clips from games played with voice over to give examples of when using only stick and others with only motion, and including videos with showing stick and motion combined. I don’t know if there are others like me, but implementing what I work on in the lobby, doesn’t translate for me in actual matches. I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong, but it’s hard when you don’t know where to start, or have something to compare to. I feel it would help to have a follow up video to see how motion controls are actually used in matches. If only they had something in the game that can simulate another player to help. I just brought this up as there truly are not many videos on this stuff, and they are only good at the beginning.
this video was really helpful but the thing is that i got a wired controller and that means that i cant use motion control i wanted to learn how to use motion control but i sadly cant
The reason why i use Y is because I need to readjust my up and down angle frequently. I'm on a lazy boy, not an office chair, and I take different positions sometimes. I wished that Splatoon 3 would let you control up and down with the stick WITH motion, but whatever
One thing that is helping me is trying to get your targets to be on the center of the screen before start shooting... maybe this is obvious for some but not fir me 😭
For me personally i use -1,5 motion and 0,5 stick for close range. And for snipers i use -2.0 motion 0.5 stick. The reason why i play low motion is that it gives me steady aim. And High stick its bc i can look around faster.
12:00 I heavily disagree with this, learning how to turn around or even flick with Y may be really hard at first but if you do some "Y flick drills" you can start to see how you can incorporate it into your playstyle and flick faster than anyone else! 😅
I use Y to quickly turn like if your inkling is facing one way and you are facing another but you want to face where your inkling's facing that's when you press Y and it quickly turns your camera I havent mastered it yet or figured out the best time too use it but it seems possible and it doesnt seem very bad
A thing that really helped me was using the JoyCons like Wiimotes, since only one of them is counted for motion control. Not sure if this works for left handers.
Ok but trying to use motion controls on handheld are really uncomfortable unless you're standing in the middle of a room. It also barely changes inkbrush, my main. So I think I'll stick to +5 on sticks. If I actually want to pick up tentatek or snipewriter though, I know what to do.
Do you have to always go into your ink to help your main weapon recover? I know this what players will be doing a huge majority of the time, but they are some occasions where they will engage with an enemy. Will having a delay of firing your main weapon in kid form reset the weapon even if for only a couple seconds during the engagment?
Yeah I'd love to learn motion controls but I play my Switch entirely in 'tabletop mode' (really handheld, but in a pro controller grip like the Fixture S1) and mostly while laying in my bed so it just doesn't work for me at all. My view instantly flies up to the sky whenever I even try to use motion.
This video literally made me switch from stick controls to motion controls, BUT im having some issues. I think my sensitivity is ok, since i dont really overshoot, but im really shaky during the drill practice and im not comfortable during the stick flick + motion control finish. Is this just me not being used to it (thus needing time to adjust) or am i doing something wrong? I would like to know since im not the best at killing and i would like to get better at it (i main the sploosh and the ink brush nouveau, so 2 close ranged weapons) can someone give me some tips?
Me personally I only use the stick when I can't turn my body any more/ its uncomfortable. I think most of your aiming is done by motion controls. Yeah and they'll feel shaky at first, maybe you can try a lower sensitivity as well. Give it like a week
Here's something im wondering, do i need to have a flat surface when playing with gyro? Because it honestly feel super bad and awful to control when it's shaking so much. So will playing with a flatter surface make it steadier?
how do i use motion controls when my switch is stuck in tablet mode bc it cant work with docks and i have severe motion sickness? am i just unable to get better now? bruh :(
Hey Dude, This is a bit of a strange question... out of no where I thought I remembered you having a video where you gave someone a life sized E-Liter 3K... but I can't seem to find it or I'm remembering the wrong channel... I was just wanting a picture of it because from my memory it was the best looking real life one I've seen. but I can't seem to find the video... was it deleted?
I have a question for anyone willing to answer. I recognize that motion controls are definitely better, but I currently use stick controls. I used motion for my first roughly 30 hours of splatoon and was just really bad at the aiming so I switched to stick and have used it ever since in splatoon 2 and 3. I consider myself a good player but nothing remotely close to a competitive player nor am I trying to be a competitive player. Given the large number of successful hours I’ve put in with stick controls, is it too late for motion controls to be worth it for me? I feel like it will take me a very long time to get motion controls up to my current skill level with stick controls given my experience with them previously.
no, its never too late. i used stick controls from splatoon 1 to the start of 3, and i used motion controls for a bit and now ive stuck with motion controls. use it for a bit, and try to get used to it.
Forcing yourself to use snipers will also help. It's the equivalent of throwing yourself in the deep end to learn how to swim, but it helped me improve quite a bit.

I don’t use Motion Controls. Like at all. 😂
Switch lite tips? Seems i can't gyro left to right much
do you still calibrate your motion controls before you play?
I use Y to quickly turn like if your inkling is facing one way and you are facing another but you want to face where your inkling's facing that's when you press Y and it quickly turns your camera I havent mastered it yet or figured out the best time too use it but it seems possible and it doesnt seem very bad
You love to see it 🙂👍
A thing that really helped me was using the JoyCons like Wiimotes, since only one of them is counted for motion control. Not sure if this works for left handers.
Practice makes Permanent!
good stuff
Ayy proChara, the Goat is online 6hrs Ago
just tried turning on motion controls after 30 hours of using just stick and its hell, how do you all do it??
Ok but trying to use motion controls on handheld are really uncomfortable unless you're standing in the middle of a room. It also barely changes inkbrush, my main. So I think I'll stick to +5 on sticks. If I actually want to pick up tentatek or snipewriter though, I know what to do.
Do you have to always go into your ink to help your main weapon recover? I know this what players will be doing a huge majority of the time, but they are some occasions where they will engage with an enemy. Will having a delay of firing your main weapon in kid form reset the weapon even if for only a couple seconds during the engagment?
Do this but for handheld please
do this but for docked /tabletop please
What gaming monitor do you use, Dude?
What do you suggest for someone with a past wrist injury
Super useful video, thanks. What is the controller you're using? I can't find this colour
Its a custom made pro controller i put together with colored shells!
@@ThatSrb2DUDE Nicely done, it looks so good!
There's one thing that you forgot to consider!
I just suck
i use stick controls
because motion controls somehow gets me motion sickness
don't ask why
Same here. Good to know Im not the only one. I think moving your hands, or even reacting with body language to events really messes things up here.
The problem with me is that I generally play better handheld, but ofc controller drift.. 💀
I'm sorry i've been using sticks since 4 years and motion control in portale mode isn't really the est
So will playing with a flatter surface make it steadier?
how do i use motion controls when my switch is stuck in tablet mode bc it cant work with docks and i have severe motion sickness? am i just unable to get better now?
bruh :(
I've been using the Y button alot and that's probably why ,_, (why heheh, get it?) It makes aiming with the motion controls super wonky
yes
Hey Dude, This is a bit of a strange question... out of no where I thought I remembered you having a video where you gave someone a life sized E-Liter 3K... but I can't seem to find it or I'm remembering the wrong channel... I was just wanting a picture of it because from my memory it was the best looking real life one I've seen. but I can't seem to find the video... was it deleted?
So I found the link to that exact video on Reddit (don't think I can post links on here) but yeah for whatever reason the video was privated
@@superl8296 probably because of personal reasons
I just use squid Amer to warm up
What about brushes? Is it the same bcs you can’t rlly aim at one spot
Imagine not just shovng the bar to max sensitivity on everything ans forcing yourself to adapt
My controllers don’t have motion control, what do I do?
Get a Controller with Motion Controls.
Is it bad that I play this game undocked, just putting my switch on my desk, and use the joy cons?
If you are used to that might as well play with mouse and keyboard. Its not complicated to setup.
