This piece wasn't picked from a selection of options. It was a world premier written specifically for this very performance. Presumably the composer had control of the artistic decisions. The commissioning group didn't know who would show up to sing in the choir since a general invitation was posted on the internet (hence the "flash choir" aspect) and possibly they and/or the composer preferred to tie the performance together with a soloist.
Why did they pick this piece of music for this event? It seems like something that didn't rely so heavily on a soloist would have worked better for the situation.
Wonderful, thank you, and thank you Mr Glass.
Wonderful singing.
This is how music is supposed to be shared.
Oh my. This is awesome
I just can't stop grinning. And it makes my eyes leak at times.

The piece originally came from Glass’ chamber opera “Monsters of Grace”, but was reworked by Glass into an a cappella and soloist setting.

Oh look, the woman at 4:12 thinks she's that big breasted lady from Mad Men.
Hardly a 'flash.'
Everything here is nice... but, personally, I think the music piece es veeeery ugly.
