Not Another 'Loco Add-on Bundle' ~ A Train Sim World 3 Rant

  • This time, I'm criticizing some Dovetail twaddle again. Clearly learning nothing from (or ignoring any backlash against) the last 'Loco Add-on Bundle', they're trying it again. Another thing they're trying is my patience (and any respect I might still have for them).
    For some reason, they think that re-skinning locomotives and units we already have is a good way to retain interest in Train Sim World 3's core routes. As if the overly frequent DLC releases weren't bad enough.

      Get IT😅. I like that DLC because of the steam engines and trucks but then i dislike IT because its the only dlcs with steam Trains. I dont know why they dont do a DLC with some panniers on great western line. IT would hit and oné more thing. Why in Spirit of the steam DLC, there are no shunters. And big tender engine are the only oné shunting in yards . That's maybe my biggest dissapointement.

    The SD70ACe is my fav locomotive, they went with it because everyone edited it one there, and all class 1 railroads and most in the US either has then or had them, plus it is a easy transfer over, and it will bring more better and different experience to CJP, but yes I do want to see a ET44 or SD70MACE,

    • @DC4260Productions

    I'll be honest, the BNSF SD70ACe looks really cool and I'm definitely going to pick it up, but none of the other stuff interests me, and the ICE repaints do look pretty crap. An ICE 4 would have been better, and the Class 37 does look ok, and it does add quite a few interesting looking gameplay elements, especially the new 375 variant. It could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse.

    They should at leaat try and fix bugs, like catenary not appearing in some sections, and not a resking and MORE STRIPES.
    They should really add the Amtrak P42 and Superliner coaches. That would be amazing.

  • @aaroncook2052
    @aaroncook2052 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Speaking as primarily a NA freight guy, here's locomotives I would rather have than a SD70 on Cajon Pass.
    1. GO rail commuter train on Oakville (hey just because I'm a freight guy don't mean I can't appreciate passenger services.) Admittedly there most likely is a copyright issue.
    2. GP7 on Clinchfield. I believe Matt has said this is something they would actually like to do, but they far as I know have yet to touch it. A classic high hood would be nice. Also would be a good locomotive to add some switching/shunting services. For some reason I have never understood Clinchfield has a almost complete lack of them. The biggest flaw on a otherwise great route.
    3. Sand Patch Grade retro pack. What it sounds like. Say a Chessie System era pack of locomotives and cars. Do it like the retro pack for Great Western Express where it substitutes all other services.
    4. Long Island Railroad extended. I doubt this happens, but I think we can all agree this route is nowhere near it's potential. Adding one of the diesel branch's would be nice variety.
    5. Amtrak P42 and appropriate car sets depending on route. There's a few different routes this could be introduced on. I feel Cajon Pass and Horseshoe Curve would be the best ones. Most the other appropriate routes are too short so would have a lack of multiple appropriate stops, although it could be fine as AI traffic.

    • @DC4260Productions
      @DC4260Productions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those are all good ideas (my favourite being the extended LIRR). That route is awful, purely because of its extremely limited services in timetable mode and the sheer number of omitted lines. At the very least, DTG needs to add the Port Washington and Oyster Bay branch lines (as well as the DE30AC / DM30AC + C3 coaches).
      The CN Oakville route is really weak because it's so short and linear, not to mention the largely dead-straight nature of the route and lack of GO Transit trains (despite passing a few GO stations). A Clinchfield GP7 would be nice, though I'd rather see the route extended down to St. Paul, Virginia. There was no reason to cut the TSW route at Dante.
      I wouldn't mind seeing Chessie stuff in TSW, but I'm not a big fan of US freight routes. That's why I almost never touch Sand Patch, Clinchfield, Cajon Pass and have refused to get Sherman Hill and Horseshoe Curve. Cane Creek is so forgettable that I'm surprised I even remembered it now.
      We need more Amtrak rolling stock in the game (something like the P42DC + Amfleets + F40 NPCU and a Boston to Brunswick route, which I thought of off the top of my head). Like I said in the video, you'd think that we'd get more Amtrak routes after the situation with ACS-64 No. 662.

      Well if it ain't what you're into that's fine and I ain't the one to try to sell you on the virtues of miles long freight trains much as I enjoy them. I swear a shocking amount of people who play rail sims thought get weirdly territorial about what they like and don't like far as nationality goes and go nuts if everyone else don't agree with them. It's so dumb. Also I have this theory that Dovetail just assumes most people who are fans of US content prefer freight, since US freight routes tend to be better done than US passenger routes, sans something like Cane Creek which is just pointless.

    • @DC4260Productions
      @DC4260Productions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I reckon the devs should do frequent surveys where they ask the community what sort of routes they'd like to see in the game, instead of doing this like assuming a preference for US freight routes. In my case I like American trains overall, albeit with a preference for passenger trains (especially obscure commuter services like the Music City Star or Trinity Railway Express).
      Incidentally we've got a few North American-built classes still running in New Zealand. The DXB / DXC / DXR subclasses, for example, were originally built by General Electric as the U26C model.

Like how many times how we have been given the SD40-2 OR GP38-2 what about something original like some sort of Mac like you mentioned or maybe just maybe an actual dash 9 for a fallen flag railroad in the US you don't see that often.

      Good thinking. They could also do something like a D&RGW narrow gauge line (with K-28 or K-37 locomotives). Or heck, even just early Norfolk Southern and the Saluda incline.

  • @EpicThe112
    @EpicThe112 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason why they went BNSF SD70ACE it has to do with all the freight railroads in the United States and Canada going for the same locomotives which means there isn't only UP operating them as seen in game because in real life CSX Canadian national and Norfolk Southern Canadian Pacific do operate SD70ACE.
    For Long Island Railroad the only way to fix it is actually adding in East Side Access Grand Central terminal that way you get to experience how busy Harold interlocking is just like real life

    One route I'd love to see is the Racetrack again. But, include the BNSF Mendota Sub to Galesburg. I'd purchase the route if you get the SD70MAC, C44-9W, F40PH, GP38-2, P42DC, B32-8WH, and SC-44.
    Broken down for BNSF we'd get the SD70MAC and C44-9W for road freight. The GP38-2 for yard switching and local freight. The F40PH for Metra commuter services. P42DC for long distance Amtrak trains. SC-44 for Illinois state supported Amtrak trains and B32-8WH for switching around Chicago Union Station or occasionally leading an Amtrak train.

      Reasons
      1. It’s literally the only steam locomotive route to animate and research steam locomotive operations
      2. To answer that, because they yet to “experiment” more steam locomotives but decided “Nup, let’s use some Stainer locomotives and let Rivet to reskin them for later DLC packs”
      The “Spirit of Steam” pack was promising but a huge let down due to that, I don’t know, there were more BR steam locomotives in the BR period in 1950s - 1960s. Which is why I typed why this pack need more steam locomotives for “better player’s experience” and a Jinty and a LMS 4P would be better as DLC pack to experience branch line, shunting and/or suburban operations
