In this cast net video Luke Simonds from Salt Strong shows the step-by-step instructions on how to throw a big 12ft cast net the right way.
He ever puts colored tape so you can see exactly where each piece of the net should land.
This also helps prevent mistakes you might make when throwing a cast net.
Any questions when throwing a 12-foot net?

Note: the cast net used in this video is a 12ft Barracuda cast net.

Hands down the best video I’ve been able to find as far as explaining in an understandable way the mechanics of throwing a large net. It’s nice to see someone put educating before their own ego and show a less than perfect thrown then explain how to correct it. Those of us who keep throwing half circles salute your humble expertise
Awesome job demonstrating the 12’ net. This is the best video I’ve seen on throwing a big cast net
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ive watched a bunch of "how to" videos on every technique and this is the best one yet. Great detail..thank you
Lost my taste for last season and forgot my throw method! This one is better Thank You!
Barracuda nets are top notch! They are really reasonable considering the quality and the guarantee.
Another excellent video
Well done, nice technique.
Thanks Gary!
Fantastic. Just what I needed for my new 12 footer!
Glad it helped!
Good stuff! Thank you!!!
thanks luke
Thanks for the tip. been years since I threw a net and this is pretty close to the method I used back then. Well, as far as I can remember anyhow. Ill check out Baracuda nets too since I am just a little south of Tampa. Oh and the flagging the net so you know where you need to adjust... great tip! Ill be trying this all out tomorrow.
Nice video
Thanks for sharing
Regard from Malaysia

I'm sure a lot easier throwing from a kayak than thowing wading in waist deep water .
Great job
Thanks!
Should I get a 150$ 12 foot net as my first the reason is I don't want to have to by a smaller one that I won't use if I get a 12 foot
fishing net is very good
You can tell that is high quality mono, very expensive. Lays like a cotton pillowcase, soft and no afros. Gotta pull that pinky down tight to open it up. Good on you.
Wow I bought a barracuda 12 ft 1/4 inch mesh.
What a great net your right. So getting to the point I am sure I am not as tall as you are. and I have tried your method so far I can get it to open although no pancake yet. can you recommend and other pointers for me besides spinning since I am throwing from a boat. I like to say I am 5ft 9 but more like 5 7 lol . Thanks great video
Joining a Gym, and working out for a few months, I found also helps achieve that perfect pancake :-) Good luck!
Hello can you tell me a site that i can buy one cast net?
hey luke good throw but got another question whats best knot for 15 pds.braid to 20 florocarb

Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment. Glad to see that you enjoyed this cast net throwing tutorial.
I need to get one what's the price like
ID, you've clicked your subscription. I'd like to buy the network, so please tell me the link to the shopping mall.
Can you tell me if all the fishes will stay the net or leave i don't know how they are doing that
Even if a 12 foot net doesn't open perfectly is better than a 6 foot pancake
I need 16 fit cast net
My Dad has a 12 foot mesh cast net and he doesn’t know how to throw it properly
It’s the same size as mine
I just bought my first cast net. I got a 16 ft. Wish me luck.
Lol thats huge how did it go?
That looks 12 ft tall. Wouldn't that be a 24-ft radius? I accidentally bought one just like that from Tarpon Outfitters in Holiday Florida. It said 12 ft radius on the bucket but it was 12 ft tall. And that's why I'm watching this video because I can't figure out how to open this thing up. LOL
It would have a 24 foot diameter. Radius is the distance from the center of the net to the edge, which is the same as the height if you were to hold it up by the horn.
Co
My only question is, is it worth throwing a 12 footer? I can reload and cast a 6 foot like 4-5 times in the time it takes to set up a net this large. I would suppose as long as you are 100% on the bait, and want a one-and-done it might be, but it's pretty rare.
I think it's all preference and what you're catching. Most people start with an 8ft. But if 6ft works for you and you're good with it...stick with it!
Now throw it into the wind. If you can do that, then you have it mastered.

Καλό,,θα;τοπροσπαθησω,
Φίλε καλησπέρα έχεις πάρει κάτι τέτοιο αν ναι από που?
Nice. But after the video I just watched of an Asian guy throwing, all others seem sloppy lol.
asian flute!!
That asian guy is waaay good.
Nice, but get much time also touch the net on body

this is the reason artificials were invented
Haha! I'm an artificial angler too... I've casted more nets on dry land for these tutorials over the past few years than I have casting in the water trying to catch bait:)
no artificial for a live ballyhoo or pilchards I can tell you that, at least not one thats catch anything
Trying to throw a net at all is so frustrating for me.....

Too much talking buddy
All time speaking...its boring..do it practical silent and camera cover is not clear.
Talks to damn much, more showing less talking
Bad tutorial really.
