LOVE THAT SONG MAN!!!! I switched to using a piece of Velcro last year. A 7 foot shark got caught in my net when I threw on a bait ball of mullets. He snatched me off the boat hard and dang near broke my arm. After I hit the water and came up he pulled me down again on a surge to tear out of the net. It felt like being towed by a rocket. My upper arm and shoulder was bruised up, but at least I lived to fish another day.
Wow!! That’s insane! I guess it’s just a matter of time when you’re on the water a lot. Thank God you’re ok. I’m glad you like the song. Lots of great memories back then. 😁
Hello, Mike. Lots of things to see in this wonderful video. First I was going to say without any New England wise guy inflection: I didn't know they threw castnets up North... as I grew up with Cape Cod minnow traps & drag nets. I guess you do! & well versed too, and what a beautiful beautiful place. you have your boat moored❤ talk about nostalgia. Love the safety tips: there's a guy down here that threw the net into the pylons of the Sanibel bridge years ago & never resurfaced. Ps- The taking weight off is a great point that is often overlooked. Many of us have had back injuries. Happy fishing.
Thank you sir!! I appreciate the kind words! I actually fish all up and down the east coast so I net bait in freshwater and saltwater. You’re right, the further north you go it seems that you see less cast netting. Thanks for your support!!!! 🙏😁
@@glennwhite5187 Yes sir. Adult Menhaden in water deeper than 20ft is incredibly tricky. They are super fast. It’s so frustrating when you watch them on live sonar swimming out from under the net😂. The worst part is that they swim just fast enough to escape, though they can swim faster. Like little swimming ball-breakers 🤨🤨🤣.
Great video my friend! I can throw my 12 foot Wade with the Striper Soup method but it has a reduced weight to 1lb/ft. It seems like 15 lbs is about the cutoff. I tried the invi series black pearls and wanted to love them, but nothing I've thrown holds a candle to a good Wade net.
THANKSTry the 2 methods for bigger nets. TOS method and no-brainer. I am batting 1000 for every one I showed it to. Even if you screw up the throw, it still opens quite a bit. Very forgiving 👍👍 Keep me posted 👍👍 thanks for your support brother!!!

I noticed you toss with both sides of your . Lefty and righty? Why not just throw rotationing to your left everytime . The Velcro is exactly Amazing idea when you’re on the boat by yourself casting in deep water
Thanks brother!! I’m not sure I follow on lefty and righty? I rotate to the right because I feel stronger going to my dominant side. Kinda like throwing a frisbee.
I’m righty. The OLD SCHOOL Method puts the lead over my LEFT elbow/shoulder. The NO BRAINER puts the lead over my right shoulder. Sorry for the confusion, someone else asked me the same thing so I guess I wasn’t clear enough.

@papasnook Ha!! It happens! One time a guy commented on my “sonar for dummies” video. He said “this video sure IS for dummies, you used the full length of a 5” drill bit to attach a transducer to a mounting block that’s only an inch thick!, You went all the way through the transom”. After I read that, I went back and watched my video which never showed my transducers. He commented on the wrong video, but we had a laugh and still talk once in a while. 🤣
