  • In this video, we take a look at a number of recent Yahoo! Japan auctions for both first and second generation Seiko 6105 divers watches but with the focus more on first gen than second. In reviewing these auctions, we reflect on what factors might influence the final value achieved in these auctions and compare and contrast examples at opposite ends of the condition spectrum.

Hi Martin! First generation looks great, I would definitely choose this one over the second, which is way too round, big and fat. Prices are high now, but we can all agree that will only go up from here :) I bought recently a 6105-8000 chinese homage which looks decent actually, so I'm thinking for an original now... just need to sell some of my watches, so I could finance a nice 1st gen 6105. Happy hunting all!

This is a really interesting video Martin! £3400 for a
セイコー 6105 is a lot of money ... but maybe also a wise buy. With the rarity of these pieces only going to increase I think the future prices may become eye watering. btw ... I love your recent blog posts! All great stuff! Ricahrd

Thank you Richard. I'm pleased to hear you have enjoyed the blog posts. I struggle with these elevated prices because the market shifts Seiko further and further out of grasp for those enthusiasts who are just discovering the world of vintage Seiko. But I guess it's just what it is. Thanks again!

It's really unfortunate that good examples are now completely unattainable for a large percentage of collectors.

I believe it is still possible to find good watches at reasonable prices but it does require that your approach to searching takes a less direct route and/or that you occasionally gamble on uncertainties over condition. It is undoubtedly the case though that baseline values are now much, much higher than they were when I first got interested.

      @@amateurwatchfettler I absolutely agree.
Even though the base prices for good examples of the vintage Seiko are much higher than what they used to be, they still offer incredible value for money when compared to the current offerings from Seiko, in my opinion.
