- Japanese auction and marketplace sites are often ignored by overseas buyers but there's a load of cool stuff that's worth taking a look at. It's also way easier than you might imagine. We'll take a look through what's available and some of the items I've picked up recently.

You missed the biggest plus to buying vintage/secondhand from Japan: Condition. If you're buying a secondhand bag in the US it's like, "Oh, the bottom is scratched to hell, it's missing the zipper pull, and there's peanut butter in the pockets. B-" In Japan, "The zipper pull has a scratch, and there's an ink stain in an interior pocket, C" They're super sticklers for condition, so you can get really great deals if a tiny scratch or crease doesn't bother you. Their vintage watch market is nuts too.
I use Japanese websites to buy guitars. I can often get really rare pieces into the US for less money than I’d spend for a traditional import model at retail even after duty fees.

That is so true! They sell runway items ( Rick Owens specifically) like it wasnt a biggie compared to Grailed ( 🙃) I think it’s how the japanese are quick to move on from one product to another. I will contintue buying from Japan because I save a lot!

The *amzclothes* coats are gorgeous in their size, fabrics and color. I bought blue. I think I might buy another one in black. I own some high priced designer clothes, but I like these even more!
Great vid, Ive been having a hard time shopping for Japanese brands in the west. Not enough variety or nowhere near my size. Especially when looking for shoes. I thought I was gonna have to bite the bullet, learn Japanese and take a week to fly over and fill up my suitcases with nice clothes. Extra points for the Persona 5 music in the background. Love that game.

Don’t know whether anyone already brought that up, since the vid is 1yr old, but, and I’m sorry, this Ring Coat is a Chinese knockoff. Made the same mistake with the same exact jacket, then found tons on them on Ali with same pictures and description. Kapital did these coats in ripstop, but the detailing were completely diffident.

Can anyone comment on if its common for these websites to be selling fakes of the more popular items. Cause i was looking at the bamboo acronym prestos and the price seems too good to be true but at the same time the pictures of the items seem legit

Postage is crazy expensive at the moment
I think each thing cost me around £30 postage which makes it uneconomical to buy small items like t-shirts but for bigger things (or multiple purchases) it's not so bad if you're factoring it into the cost

Thanks! Depends entirely on the brand - it's always best to go by the measurements rather than the size. As a general rule though Chinese/Japanese stuff comes up significantly smaller than anything made for a US or European market

@@facelessentity1 okay, I understand. Are you satisfied with the quality from shein? imo it's defo worth setting up an online banking account and saving up for garments that will last you a long time and that can actually be resold once you start to get sick of them.

Those are the only 2 things I've bought so far (annoyingly just got outbid on a nice And Wander bag!). The general sense I get is people take fairly good care of their stuff but always important to look closely at pics and take note of any potential flaws/issues
