    general tip : never rest your toe under the gear padel to make it easy to shift to upper gear you never know from which side shit hit down just yesturday saw a student break his toe by that ...he had all protective gears and not a single scar on body apart from broken toe so please shift a gear and bring the toe up ...never seen anyone pointing this one out so please think about it

    • @aaassaeer
      @aaassaeer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      RAHUL S R ideally you shouldn't even be placing your toe anywhere near the gear shifter. Place it on the footrest with your heel suspended in the air (similar to how you stand on your toes). Move your leg and hence the toes forward only when you want to shift gears

    • @phoenixishere
      @phoenixishere 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      too late for that now mate i usually put it(glide it) over gear lever for emergency down shifting its far better gives you a sec or two more to shift down

      well said bro.. i myself hurted my toe while i was keeping it under gear panel ..while cornering.. from that time i always keep my toe up!

      Yes I agree with your point .. not only for toe broken It can help to quick down shifting at emergency situation.. as well as while we in enjoying at cornering our toe can hit the road as too badly if we rest our toe in under the gear .. keep safe ride riders👍😍

    Very helpful. I skid my bike last week. A woman was crossing the road with out looking left or right. A collision was unavoidable. I decided to move towards right to gain time, but my bike skid in the process. I she have used combination of engine braking and should have kept the bike straight instead of moving to right.
    Thanks to helmet and safety shoes, my head and foot fingers were not hurt. Shoulder and knees were hurt. Neck was strained due to jerk of falling and hitting the head to divider

    Very good advice.I am a postman here in Australia and we deliver the mail on small motorcycles. We are trained and must pass regular refresher courses on safe riding. My only concern is that when you actually show us how you brake, you use just one finger. We are trained to use all four fingers and squeeze the front brake, as you also said. Apart from that, you offer very good advice.I would urge every rider to practice emergency braking. Find a stretch of road and "when safe to do so", brake as though your life depended on it. Because one day it might, and if you are familiar with how your bike will react under heavy braking, it isn't as scary as people imagine.Good luck everyone and stay safe.

    that's all good but thats theory and a right one too ...best way to stay safe in a panic braking is trying hard braking on a daily basis and practicing stoppie on a daily basis that way you'll know exactly how much lever should be squeezed in an emergency situation.
    key is to simulate emergency in a controlled way on a daily basis.
    also keep your tyre in a good condition always and if you don't have abs it's preferable to switch to a soft compound front tyre ...cheapest one is mrf revz fc1

    • @EvolutionMachinetoMan
      @EvolutionMachinetoMan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have crashed twice on my duke 200 because of panic braking both of which were pretty much unavoidable and I’ll still crash in the same situation but after that I started practising panic braking by fixing an imaginary target(obstacle) ahead of me and tried stopping before it and now I’m pretty sure that if its possible to stop I CAN stop my bike.
      To ensure this I’ve installed a 300mm disc, sintered brake pads and metzellar sportec m5 54w front tyre on my duke 200

    But if you do not detach the engine from tire, then the breaks have to do more work to stop the tire and the engine too. Please comment on it.
    Also in emergency, most people are panicked and sudden downshifts without caution will surely lockup the wheels and ABS will play no role here as locking is due to unmatched engine rpm. Am it right ?
    Another thing you must have mentioned the downshift breaking/ engine breaking if not much useful if bike has slipper clutch. :-(
    BTW thanks for the informative video.

    Great advice, Vikas! Will practice the aggressive downshifting in these scenarios starting tomorrow. One point though, in most panic situations I have been. People crossing the road end up freezing where they are looking at the bike coming. And if I don't swerve my steering a little then I would have surely bumped into them. I generally try to change my line by just a little bit and in a quick split second and then make the bike straight again to break harder. Is that something you would discourage?

    Forget engine lock,
    Forget cluch shift u will not have time for that, LET THE BIKE STOP IN HIGH GEAR ... ITS OK.. THE GOAL IS IS TO STOP ASAP.

    At 130 or 140 we dont have this much time to downshift, so it will be better to apply your front brakes first slowly and then gradually increasing the pressure and then start applying rear brakes. It will be helpful. We should not bother about downshiftinh our sole purpose should be to keep bike balanced and steady in such sitiations...

    Watching this after i almost killed myself while panic breaking because a dumb person decided to cross the road without signalling. My handle might have been leaning on an angle and tyre skid and i flew off the bike. Thankfully i was barely riding at 15-20 and nothing happened really happened other than few minor scratches. Now i feel like i should have watched these type of videos when i was learning how to ride. Learned a great lesson today 🙂

    My strategy will be first I decide if I will definitely brake or should I bypass my obstalce. Bypassing is not good at high speed , so steps are front brake..... down power . And slap front brake.....stoppeeee and stop

    Speed 120 kmh, target distance hit at 100 metres time will be 3.00 sec.. brain response time is 556 milliseconds.... Best is slow drive increases breaking and effectively better respond times

    But in reality you don't get enough time to squeeze the brake pedal and down shift the gears because of obstacle which made you panic.. you can say all of this.. but it's not practical at all.. my experience.. only proper ABS system can save you little..

    From my experience the front brake is most important while panic .. Most of the people say apply both brakes at emergency . But what you have said is my experience apply Front and then the rear for control ... Good piece of information 👍🏻

    Brother I want to ask about exhausts I mean what is the difference between original akrapovic exhaust which cost around more than 70000₹ and the one which we get around 4000-5000₹ in our local markets
    Is the cheap exhausts are harmful for engines??

    What a coincidence. Today I met with same incident. The only thing that saved me was my speed. I was going at 65 kph and the man in front of me stopped suddenly. ABS also sort of helped. But I fell down from my bike. Never ever ride fast on Indian roads. Because we don't have any idea of road discipline and rules.

    Bro .... if the bike is enganged in 3rd gear ... by mistake the rider leaves the clutch and the bike gives the jerk and the engine is off... does it cause any harm to the engine ... cuz my friends duke 390 ... it happened

    That means in emergency situation we should have to squeeze both the brakes????? For example squeeze front brake then release that everyone says and again squeeze right same process for both the brakes important doubt ☹️🤔🙃

    i would like to add other situation which is this kind of situation is happening more oftenly than human or animal crossing the road... i would like to put for example when ur in the road cruising about 100 kph following a car within 100 to 150 meters.. when the car in front suddenly full brake, we intend to pull the brake lever as what said in the video, in this case, since the object is not a human or animal, and the car in front of us is not aware whos following .. i strongly advise, not to pull the brake clutch panicly, coz it will cause u to skid or lock ur brake, just like what vikas said in the video, pull the brake lever gently , managed it as long as u can managed it not to lock up, then go to right, or left like u have to overtake the car in front of you. do not pull the brake lever and trying to stop behind the car... just go left or right, and pull over with car in front of you. but of course with caution, ..

    Incase of human or animal crossing road, u can go in the crossed side of it. Then they wont confuse. Bcz u r going in the part of road which they already crossed. So, they wont come back.

    One risk you missed with engine braking is you could panic and rev while braking. If clutch is pulled in no matter how much rev you give the bike will not lose control.
