Nice work. A handy tip I was told when doing a corbel is to temporarily put a weep vent in front on bed joint, then remove later and then point up. Keep up the good work, nice garage job you done. 👍👍
Rodian what makes you unique from others on TH-cam brickys is your rustic nature. Your different man you well deffo be really successful on TH-cam. god bless man
Great video, tidy work! I think you should do a video of your top 10 best builds. Photos of them and the details surrounding them, because the garage was fantastic work! Really looks well!
Great video mate , that would be a good idea for video purposes getting a more regular size brick , you could always use them stocks for a permanent job in the garden ? Planter etc , I find a nice sandface brick with 3 perferations in it , is a great brick to lay for accuracy
Yes rodders another great one. As said before mate I’m no bricky but I really like the way you haven’t gone for the perfect bricks, as you show the skill better and it shows beginners that on the job isn’t perfect more that it’s you as the tradesman and your skill, perfect bricks every now and then would be good for detail aspect of it and to show the different variants of brick but all the time would be in my opinion to clinical. But hey you the boss man 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
champion...the reason I ask for stuff like this is I get my lads from the training centre to watch your vids. at least they're learning during the lock -down...nice bit of dog tooth detail next please mate
Wish you were based here in the Midlands mate, would set you on extending my house without hesitation! Love your videos, keep em coming. Stay safe and keep well mate.
Hi Rodian, nice corbel! Those bricks do look good but must give you grief with their wonkiness for things like this! I'm just starting on an extension on my house and the brick I'm using is Forterra (Hanson) County Multi Dragfaced (65mm), there's a few reasons why I'm using this brick, but since this is my first proper brick-laying job I'm a bit apprehensive that they pose certain challenges such as staining the faces and getting them all the right way up lol! A big advantage though is they're perfectly uniform in size and straightnes! They do look great as a finish and blend in well with other bricks around, so if you do come across them any hints and tips regarding these bricks would be more than welcome as I haven't had any formal training on the trowel! Cheers.
Nice work brother, nice work. As for a choice of brick for you to get🤔 my new fave is made by ibstock called brunel brick. Lovely smokey blue engineering brick. Looks popping with mortar colours black or grey. I really want to build a garden wall with them, but the bird out voted me.
Thanks for sharing your brilliant channel. I would like to ask you a question: I have an outside toilet brick-shed wall with no cavity built into it and I am thinking of turning it into an extension and part of the house. I am thinking of keeping the longest part of the existing wall (which has no cavity) - which is 4m700 long then extend the wall on both ends to the same length as my house. This will be by fixing it with a strong tie wall bracket or taking out the end headers and building into it . The reason that I don't want to take down the existing wall is that I don't know how deep the original footings are and don't want to create more unnecessary work for myself seeing as the wall is already standing. What would you suggest I do in your expert opinion? Many Thanks. Show less
I am not a brickie, I just like watching construction videos. I do like your channel it is informative and easy going. A little distracted with this one as I cannot help looking at, and wondering; is that three little dog poos in the frame or is it cement? LOL. Quite funny really. I presume its cement but it does look `iffy`. Excellent channel. Thanks.
Do you have a video on how to do the smoke chamber of a BBQ? I see BBQs where they are maybe 60-70cm inside and then the bricks need to be stepped in for the chimney on 3 or all 4 sides. I don't understand how that works and how it has the strength to sustain a chimney :(
What think about building with stone it looks really cool to me and there is not much on youtube about it i know it's different but do you think you can give it a go?
hi mate mate well i started watching your tutorials with fascination when you dug out your building sand from your site and used it for your tutorials and all the masonary on your house and read comments about the sand and local planning building control were quite happy with it with no washing etc i thought am i hearing/reading right? so i went back to the begining to see you dig the footings and pour the concrete to trench fill which i have seen last night i cant believe my own eyes can you guess what i am about to state ? you have defied logic ,science and notion etc by the way have you had much rain in last two months we have only had one inch here in cambridgeshire ?
OK let me start .. first thing great video i love to learn from You and Your videos .You explaining things much clearer so i do not have to make my own small mistakes and save time thanks to You :) Second thing for some reason i do not get notification from YT You released a video (yes im subscriber ) i had no problem with most od Your videos bu since last 2 or 3 videos it is just a coincidence im geting info about new bricklaying videos on my main YT . Third thing is a question about bricks :) hmm my favourites are soft red with a white muck but it is only my opinion :) YOu doing a great job keep it like that m8 thank YOU for everything :)
Question, I see you do alot of teaching, that is awesome. Quick question. do you use masons lime and sand? I ask because that what we used at apprenticeship classes. you can reuse it over and over, save you some money
Nice one mate, greets from Dublin, and thanks for the vids, real good to watch, well explained, and have finally seen how to do something I've always admired on a building, not having a clue how it was done.. Keep it up 👍
Can you show me how to build a 3 radius Gothic arch, in particular showing how you can cut the voussoirs manually on site yourself, including the spring brick and marking a gauge for it. Cheers
BLWP Were you using the Robone Chesterman level that you dug out of the green house ? My first level was one of them 👌🏼. So now my t shirt is a collectors item , I better look after it 😬. I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know what a drop corbel was but I do now , great video 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
I suggest laying some glazed face brick but be aware they are unforgiving. Also I’m not sure how readily available they would be in your corner of the world. They sure are cool tho’.
Hello from Reich again, Weißer Emsländer is a pretty exotic Stone in Germany. I ve you can get your Hands on thes, you should try it out. Good Day Mate
In an ideal world would prefer to lay one course , go and do something else to let it go off . That way you can lay them level .General rule of thumb don't corbel more a quarter of a bricks length .Not practical to buy a pallet but if you could get your hands on a few Staff Blues might be helpful tutorial for the inexperienced viewers . Cracking job on the garage straight out of college .
Oh u said u don't wanna use engineering brick damn I was gonna suggest them just to be annoying great work again, thanks for taking the time to do this it's really apreciated regards
I like the look of them brakes up large areas of brickwork. Shouldn't realy say this as a bricky. But sometimes straight brick work looks a bit rubbish 😂😂😂👍👍👍
I know exactly what you mean. I much prefer the knobbly, rustic look of these style bricks....however....I wouldnt mind a change🤣 I've been laying nothing but rustic bricks for the past 2 years. Maybe one, just one, straight brick build to ease my mentality 🤣
I was thinking a red sand faced heather but they are so common. I was thinking I need something a bit out of the ordinary. I need the lockdown to be lifted so I can go to look at some at my local brick merchant. If you have any suggestions that would be great pal 👍🏻🧱
Brother, tie them laces, please. so dangerous. twist that ankle and your in trouble. step in mud on the job site, good bye boot. and man, those boots need replacement, not safe - not safe.
Nice to see British tradesmen being highly skilled and actually putting effort in to the quality.
Very well explained, you should be a Professor. Incredible attention to detail and I love watching an artist at work.
Fantastic👍Starting one of these tomorrow at college.Thank you very much Rodian.
Nice work. A handy tip I was told when doing a corbel is to temporarily put a weep vent in front on bed joint, then remove later and then point up. Keep up the good work, nice garage job you done. 👍👍

Hello, great video, well done posting a professional work
Awesome video Bud, loved the garage detail, exceptional work. Keep Safe all the best Tony 👍
I did hear you mention using a tuck pointer to fill your closure, so that is good. compression is important indeed. Great wall great work
It is very good and also the chair behind one wonderful
That garage is sweat mate - looks spectacular. I like spending time in my garage - I’d never come out of that one!!!
Great video, tidy work! I think you should do a video of your top 10 best builds. Photos of them and the details surrounding them, because the garage was fantastic work! Really looks well!

Don't see why not. I might actually give it a go in a video👍
Ooooo really ? Is that a thing! Yes. Great idea

Im 2 years in. Wish i found you earlier! Thanks for vids mate.
thoroughly enjoyed that tutorial keep it up maybe a yellow or red meadow brick
Very nice
If you cut the corbel bricks, allowing, extra for the corbel, it will give them a better balance,
Love an old stock brick worth a fortune
Can you do a video of you taking your builds back down please?
I suggest laying some glazed face brick but be aware they are unforgiving. Also I’m not sure how readily available they would be in your corner of the world. They sure are cool tho’.

Wo ! I watched every second of the video then you didn’t record the last bit 🙃
I’m building this Monday for the first time I’m bricking it
You could draw a pencil mark on the top of the brick 28 mm from the face to avoid having to use your tape
What about stone ? Nice Vid also 👍
I don't have much stone at the moment, maybe 10 pieces. I'd love to do a stone build in the future if I can source some nice stone to use🤙🏼🧱
Oh u said u don't wanna use engineering brick damn I was gonna suggest them just to be annoying great work again, thanks for taking the time to do this it's really apreciated regards
V.Valparaiso Mexico's mexico
Have a nice challenge from me (Ibstock Nostell Melton Blend 65mm) or (Ashdown funton old chelsea yellow 65mm)
Why didn't u just use wedges

@@RodianBuilds Yere I we would go for a sand face brick they look clean when laid 👍👍👍
I'm going to have a look and see what I can find. Cheers bud. Looking forward to more vids on the extension👌🏼🧱
I miss work so much 😭😭😭😭
Closure again was not double buttered, :'/
NOOOO... the closure was not double head jointed. :'{
There is a beautiful yellow and black speckled brick, but it is an engineering brick unfortunately. Maybe something with a similar face and colours?
Idea build a table .......
👍
👌🏻
Are you just copying 3 days behind best bricky?
Heather's will do won't they
