Love a bit of decorative brickwork a shame not many clients want to pay for it these days as it makes such a difference from just boring stretcher bond .Nice work again mate 👍🏼
Rodian, thanks a lot. Like MASSIVE amounts. I'd pretty much figured this out myself (I'm a baker, not a bricklayer) but the devil's in the detail and its p*as easy to make mistakes. I'll use a dentil course to sit my bread peel on, above the oven mouth. Lovely vid mate nice and clear. Great work mate. Cheers from Spain x
How terrific Rodian, that you are able to shoot videos and lay brick and teach all in your back yard. Have you looked into the lime and mason sand for your mortar? It is reusable over and over.
Great vid mate👍🏼 grow some flowers in boris and Boris twin and put them on the top of the play button . Random question but once you put the first course above the dental, do you then build up on the initial wall line or build out to the face of the dental ? Hope that makes sense 🧐
Nice that, mate. Love a bit of dentil work.....and those bricks are really smart with the standard mortar mix. Must admit I'm not a fan of Black mortar at all, never have been.
Hi Rodian. Thanks for the inspiring video's. Iam a novist bricklayer and want to build a 5ft tall restraining wall in my garden. The wall will be holding back a sloping soil bank. I would appreciate any advice. Many thanks. Chris.
Rodian, they are nice bricks, what would they be classed as if I wanted to source some for a garden wall. They don't look like London stocks or common blend - can you advise? Do you want to do your next project video in my garden and just build my wall? I'll talk to Holly while you build the wall! Nice work.
Hi Mate, wondering if you could do a setting out video for English garden wall? building retaining wall out of a load of old bricks for my Dad and haven't laid in ages, cheers.
Can you please build a herringbone wall as a tutorial video please. I want to have a go at that effect in the internal walls of a chimney breast before I install my logburner thanks and keep up the good work
Dog toothing is not often used anymore. I did it on my level 3. 9 months ago the secret to it is keeping everything at 45 degree angles. It would be cool if rodian made a video on it
Yes, Boris the boots, you can bronze them or fill them with concrete and place them ontop of the sign in the back, for a few years to capture the time of COVID-19
This is great content, subbed! Liking the classical look of this dentil, I’m surprised that I don’t see it on more Victorian houses but presumably they used render for those classical details. It’s a very nice technique, makes me want to try it out myself. I’ve never laid a brick in my life but have learnt a bit about on the internet. Would quite like to rebuild a wall (that collapsed due to subsidence) in my aunt’s garden and make it lower, then sell the remaining bricks so she doesn’t have to pay me anything but I can still make a bit of a living! Anyone got any idea how long it might take, just me as an amateur, to lay an ~80ft wall, English bond, about 12-15 courses high, with a solid foundation, as well as remove the old mortar from the bricks that are lying in big clumps along the edge of the garden? I am guessing at least a month of solid 9-5 work...
Awesome, you are using lime, bravo mate. It is a bit odd to use once your use to using typical mortar. Remember using it in the apprenticeship class and we were amazed as our instructor was able to lay on a 3 inch bed, we were like - W H A T T H E, then we later realized lime handles a little different.
Brilliant video mate wanted to know how to do this for a garden wall I am doing in the future. 👍👍 How would you do the dental course in a two brick thick wall, if I was to do the wall in English bond with pillars (like in your video) how would I do the do the dental course? A video would be great to see visually. Hi Holly, now you started to help the landscaping/tidy/planning of the garden/greenhouse I hope you help Rodian finish it through to the end. Any joy fixing the digger? Maybe fill Boris with some concrete and incorporate it into a feature like the play button and chair. Maybe a man made out of brick and use Boris for the feet? Or maybe a coffin built out of brick and put Boris in there would make a cool feature to go alongside the play button and chair. Look forward to seeing nice wire cut bricks, bit those reclaimed look so nice especially with the shade of muck. 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Bricks laid wages paid 😁🍺
The principal is exactly the same with a 2 brick wall rather than a 1, the only difference would be you would have to have 2 cuts of 117.5mm in place of the one cut of 140mm. Hopefully that makes sense. I can do a video on it to show it all once the rain has stopped😁 Hollie is really enjoying working with me and I love having her help as well. Plus we love making the videos together so hopefully she will be making more appearances as the build continues. No joy with the digger at the moment. I've had some helpful tips, I just need to have a go at fixing it🤞🏻I dont make it worse. I could build a statue of boris and give him some boots...that could be fun🤣🥾 I was surprised how nice the lighter much looked with the reclaims. I'm looking forward to using some nice, straight bricks for a couple of builds🎉🎊🙌🏼
@@RodianBuilds I think I comprehend 👍 but a video would be great, I learn so much better visually 👍 Yeah enjoying you and Holly tackle the garden/greenhouse been good fun.👍 Lmao 😂😂😂 I'm sure you won't make the digger any worse film it though, as it would be interesting. Yeah nice wire bricks will be nice, those reclaimed look so nice. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍👍
Will be devastated unless Borris and his best mate appear on top of the "play button" wall and add commentary to the training e.g. "ee's got iz dentures in the wrong place" . . . "nah nah don't tell im, don't tell im" . . . Seriously the dentures look great. Tempted to knockmdown my garden wall and redo with dentures.

BLWP . Lovely bit of brickwork there Rodders 👌🏼. I’ve just priced a wall with dog toothing in it but not heard anything back 😥🧱👍🏼

Great video Rodian, awesome brickwork, love a bit of dentil. Leeks all day long in the boots. all the best Tony
Thank you for yet another amazing tutorial. How would one do a dentil course on a single skin wall that can be seen from both sides?
Great job eye level and below for the string line. That was great advice never knew that
Good job mate ,You should build a Herringbone panel on top or build a bulls eye , that would be a good watch
Love the new boots by the way, they look comfortable.
Great vid mate👍🏼 grow some flowers in boris and Boris twin and put them on the top of the play button . Random question but once you put the first course above the dental, do you then build up on the initial wall line or build out to the face of the dental ? Hope that makes sense 🧐

Professional video. Great skills...great lecture...great video editing...spot on!
great video mate, your a natural teacher.
Thanks buddy😁👍🏻

put some nice flowers in the old boots ,they,ll luck pretty good on the back wall there bro, cool feature
I like the sound of that 😁👍🏻

I can do an english garden wall bond video for sure😁🤙🏼🧱
@@RodianBuilds Brilliant, cheers mate, newly qualified and just lacking the experience, so that'd really help :)
No worries
So if the dentil course protrudes by 30mm and then you put a stretcher on top what goes behind the stretcher or is there a gap?

Already filmed the dog toothing video. Will be out later in the week🤙🏼🧱
Another great video mate!
Someone got some new boots? 😉
Keep the videos coming mate. 👍🏻🍺🍻

How Does It look on the back And don't you want to make Two to wallside?
OH and the closure looked to be double buttered - bravo and proper job.

nice job
Looks good that mate 👍
Top job mate. What do you use for your mortar in these videos thanks
I just use sand and lime mixed in a 5:1 mix
@@RodianBuilds thanks 👍

Looks better the way you built the wall
The half’s sticking out what Mm they are, great vid btw
Hi Rodian, what happened with the garage you were going to build with your dad a while back? Was it postpone due to lockdown?
The guy who's garage it was going to be couldn't get planning so it isn't getting built any time soon
Rodian Builds oh dear but imagine buying the materials before approval, I hope he gets it I want to see your dad he sounds cool 😎
I am happy Rodian, them boots laces are tied Mate - YAY :')
Build a brick boot in remembrance of ol’ Boris. Next to the chair 🤣

Good job mate🤏
Cheers bud🤙🏼🧱
The yellow level need to go in the skip too 😂😂
Good work 👌🏻
I've had that stabila level for years. Banging level, wouldn't get rid of it for anything🤣
You’ll have to build a shrine for Boris next
Set boris in a block of clear resin
Songer and Crompton watch out
Put some compost in the boots and grow leeks in them, leaky boots lol
🤣🤣🤣
Build Boris into a Brick-Frame wall by the side of your entrance ;-)
You make the art of bricklaying look easy which it is not!
When you've been doing it for 18 years it gets easier but it's never simple🤣
nice job boots or no boots:)

Stick a banger in them. & film it in slow motion 😂
Immortalize the boots, put a concrete skin on them with flowers.....
It would look more traditional weatherstruck.
Boris the boots need to go into the fire pit 👢🔥👍
👍
Why didn't you do this last week before I built my BBQ area 😫😭
Forgot to say last video, time Holly got some proper boots ? (not Boris)
Put him in the foundations of your next build.
build a statue boris in brick
I've had another comment saying something similar.....I like the sound of this 🥾🤣👍🏻
Hope one of them teeth don't get knocked out sticking out there lol
carnt beat reclammed bricks m8
Turn the old boots into planters
🤣🥾👍🏻
new boots
Oh my god! My feet are thanking me so much! Dead comfortable🥾🤙🏼🧱
I like dog toothing aswell
Ae mate if u want some real boots get ye some redwings
Make a calendar of Holly in the boots and a different swimsuit each month , mmmmmm
auction boris off off for charity
Take them to the cobblers and get them resoled and new insoles,😁upcycle keep them alive😁😁😁😷
I think they are way beyond a cobbler 🤣🥾
