There's no doubt that as we enter 2022, there are a ton of great Chromebook options out there to choose from. With 10th, 11th, and 12th-gen Intel-powered options all being pretty great, more capable ARM-powered devices already in the mix with more on the way, it feels like there's a Chromebook out there for everyone at this point. But in the middle of all the Chromebooks that are available and those that are on the way, there's still a choice to be made if you're looking to buy a device right now. For me, that choice has become clear and I'd like to share a bunch of reasons why the ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5400 has become my everyday carry.

Thanks for the review! I'm currently using a CX5500 and I love it. After watching your video I went to Google and was shocked to see that the CX5400 is sold for 1300 EUR here in Germany :( Not only do we have a very limited choice, but we also have to pay probably the highest prices worldwide for these great devices.

  • @mrmaramind

Thanks for the always great videos. Flip CX5400 might be what is in your bag, but for most users or those looking IMO it is the Acer Spin 713 w/i5 version especially at its current price at Best Buy this week which I picked it up at $499!!! Yep, read that correctly. The Acer Spin 713 with its Intel i5 chip, 256 ssd, 8 gb ram and wonderful screen is now $499. Jus try not to fixate on the poor speakers. I am sure the Flip a bit more than that and those spec's offer nothing short of an 100% fantastic Chromebook experience.

Still gonna hold onto my base model Pixelbook Go. Love the thin-and-light, fanless design of my PBG. Keyboard is silent and trackpad is still smooth,And I still get great battery life at 9hrs-11hrs depending on what I’m doing at over 300+ battery cycles already.

You mentioned several times that it's powerful. Were you able to benchmark it?
Kevin Tofel noted that the same chip in the cm3 is slower than an 11th gen i3 with a fan. I'm hoping that this has a more robust cooling solution. From a design perspective, this is my perfect laptop. But if the performance is equivalent to a low-end mid-range Chromebook, I'll settle for a spin 713 or CX-9

This looks really promising. I just hope it's better then the Flip C434. I have been very disappointed with it, and I've only had it 1yr. At first it was stellar, IE. lightning fast and just a looker. But then the feet started falling off, and most of the primary keys the paint and letter indicators have worn off and even the paint where the hands rest started peeling off about 3 months in. I just really hope they have improved the FLIP because it's a great machine, just seems like it was built with VERY cheap materials for the chassis. Great review as always. This is my go-to channel for ALL things Chromebook.

I have the same exact specced CX5400.. It doesn't get hot, it runs super fast, it gets great battery life. I'm with Robby here, it's my favorite Chromebook so far.. The downside is that it's expensive but the performance is on another level compared to the Pixelbook Go.. While getting very close to the same battery life. Unfortunately the speakers aren't great, but loud and serviceable but like Robby said, better than most Chromebook speakers. The only things on my wish list are 16:10 and better speakers here.. Why aren't there more 3:2 or at least 16:10 chromebooks? For productivity 16:9 doesn't make sense and just eats up space. I had to get a surface laptop go and install Chrome OS on it because there simply aren't any alternatives besides the HP 12b which I had to RMA 3 times. Acer Spin 713 is great, but for school too big and heavy. Why is that? Or am I missing any secret devices?

Dragonfly Elite Chromebook should appear in April and will be 3:2. We almost got a pair of these (the ASUS 5400), but my wife and I decided we wouldn't use them heavily until around April, so we are holding off for the HP Dragonfly. Or at least their review. lol! A chromebook with specs that would make a GREAT windows mid-tier laptop (even approaching an upper tier unit with that 16 gigs of RAM). Why? Do we need all that POWER in a chromebook? Isn't the entire point of a chromebook to come in UNDER the price of a Windows laptop and not need to be pumped up by a super fast CPU and extra RAM?
My Lenovo laptop has specs similar to this unit and frankly, I DO NOT need them in my lower tier Acer chromebook which performs famously at less than half the cost of the Windows machine.

this is no longer a " Chromebook " 16GB ram 256GB flash and an i5 CPU
THIS IS A WINDOWS PC or a MAC,,
who cares what it looks like
I think Chromebooks should be INEXPENSIVE and FUNCTIONAL,,, NOT DEV WORKSTATIONS

There is a market. Are you thinking about people who don't want macOS and Windows but prefer ChromeOS and still want good hardware? I think you shouldn't always look through your own prism

Would you guys *please* stop being lazy and show some b-roll instead of your faces the whole time? Also, TH-cam CHAPTERS.

CHROME BOOK PRODUCTS ARE A TOTAL POS, do not bother with buying one of these cheap garbage devices, spend the extra few dollars, and upgrade to a Windows Product. Save yourself from the heartbreak and frustration of having thrown your hard-earned money away !!
