The blonde woman has that amazing Nordic tone to her voice and the tall woman is quite remarkable as well. Voices that for my money would surely reach all the way to heaven!
This video ladies and gentlemen is the reason why TH-cam was created. It’s one of those that you’ll remember forever. I guess that’s how angels sing when a good soul dies . Beautiful it surely is.
To me, this sounds like musical perfection. The voices are pure, without vibrato, in just tune, perfectly in tune, changing exactly together, and yet, in emotional sync. It is as if eight have become one, and with one mind, without equivocation.
I have sung chorus professionally and as soloist for many operatic productions in the United States. I've moved on from that career but have longed to belong to a group like this, making harmony with true professionals and music that stirs the soul. I want this. Again.
I've been a signer all of my life. With perfect pitch I can appreciate the sound you are producing. I usually compose the music as it is sung and come up with part that is not written. Voces8 is different. It is perfection, particularly with the voice mix that includes the three women. The compositions are flawless. The best blend of voices on the planet. The best bass I have ever heard.
Sam: "..folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something." Frodo : "What are we holding onto, Sam?" Sam : "That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for."
My Mom passed away 3 weeks ago followed by my Dad passing away 2 weeks later. It has been an emotional month and this video has helped me cope with the loss. I love you Mom and Dad.
My heart goes out to you! This comment floored me because I lost my mom in 2020, and you saying "I love you Mom and Dad" was the icing. May God be with you :)
True genius is making it seem easy no matter what you're doing. VOCES8 is an astonishing ensemble, creating such a tone with no apparent effort. I've been a professional musician for most of my 60 years, and let me tell you, what this group does is off the charts in difficulty. All we can do is sit back and enjoy the bounty of their talents.
I'm brought to tears. I just sent my Daddy onto the next phase of his journey six days ago. I hope he can hear this - wherever his light may be flying.
I don't know why but reading this today pushed me over the edge and I'm sobbing. I hope you're doing ok today. I lost my dad in August of 2018, and... Well. I know how it can be.
Hey dear @Megan Parker I just read your Comment and I want to say: Send some Love to you ❤ I lost my Mum in 2018... what an Awful year... I hope you doing ok? I wish u the best.... from Germany with 💙🌹
This is not about one voice over others. This is about vocal harmony and colours. Each is necessary to achieve the result. When you sing in a choir, U know it. 🙂🥰
It's about the ensemble, but there's nothing wrong with giving credit where due. Voces8 is made of all exquisite voices. However, when I listened to this the first time and Andrea sang her first solo line I got goosebumps. A truly rare gift. Nothing wrong with appreciating what she's blessed with.
When my brother died, this was my "song/prayer" for him... guess I can't really call it a formal psalm, but it really was my heart-song for the loss, what I tried to send for him. It's hard to explain, but in singing it, it felt like he also sent the same sentiment back to me. It's a long life, to carry grief all your adult days, all the way through life. I know I'm not the only one. Hope this song helps anyone in grief in their healing and holding the strength to carry on, and enjoy the joy of life. Just as our loved ones would have wanted.
Tolkien always insisted it was an ancient prehistory of Europe- it was never intended to be an alternate Universe. Mediterranean literally means the sea of middle earth and Middle Eard is the old name for Europe so it may be more real than you let yourself believe. It’s always been real to me ❤
No matter how many times I listen to this, I'm still astounded by the clarity, presence, and purity of your voices. I use a lot of your videos to show my school choir what voices can sound like and as an ideal to aim for in shaping sound and blending. Our choir was working on this piece when schools closed and I'm very disappointed they won't get to sing it this year. Every time I listen to this now I think of my students and miss them more... so many memories and emotions attached to this song now.
Jordan Wollf so sorry your choir couldn’t finish this piece and perform it. It’s such an emotional piece, and I can understand why it would now be even more so. ♥️
I feel that with so many pieces now. I am part of the college class of 2020 and we were working on a number of pieces too when the unthinkable happened. I cry just thinking about how close I was to walking the stage. I got my degree in the mail today, but it doesn’t feel the same.
That blending that Eleonore and Andrea do, where it's never clear when one takes the note over from the other, is a level skill well beyond standard professional ability.
I first heard this version.. as it randomly shuffled on, when I reached the peak on this wintery mountain.. storming of a day. But the sun broke through for a mere moment and when the ladies harmonized is when the sun kissed my face. I felt something inexpressible that day and this track easily became my favorite. I always was a LOTR fan but I never heard this pure choir version before and I felt I died and was reborn. It was a lonely journey but I felt for that moment I was not alone.
The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy and even The Hobbit have left us with a rich legacy of music and movie scenes beautiful to behold. Thank you Peter Jackson, Enya, and Howard Shore. This rendition is a joy to listen to.
The first soprano starts, blows my mind, then the mezzo soprano has her verse and I'm thinking, jesus how can this get better, then the warmth of that bass line kicks in and I literally just stop thinking and experience the rest of this majesty. Incredible.
I think the crescendo is really around the 2:30 mark. The whole piece is incredible, but at the 2:30 mark, it just ascends to the heavens. I would love to hear this live. I bet you could hear a pin drop at the finish, right before the crowd burst into applause.
I feel blessed to have been born in the small slice of the vastness of human history that witnessed LOTR on the big screen. It remains without peer in the fantasy genre.
There is something so ultimately powerful about the human voice in its purest form. I become an absolute blubbering mess each and every time I listen to this performance.
There’s a lovely story on what came first, the musical note, or a human singing voice. I imagine it’s that lair where divinity touches humanity. Imagine being the first humans to sing and then align to a sound they feel throbbing from within. To match a tone of this deep mighty presence. To then flash forward where those have passed it on, and schooling and academia became part of it and now it’s a mastery. I agree. The human voice is probably thee most touching instrument or power. It’s inexpressible.
Great, crystal clear female voices that can hold a pure note without the wrecking ball of vibrato spoling it. Rich lower register male voices too. Very nice
I found something just the other day you might want to hear. I think it is the best "Flower Duet" I have ever heard, where the soloists are actually MESHING beautifully, rather than trying to crush each other, as I hear many other even world class soloists doing on this exquisite piece of music.. I put you in at the beginning of the duet, for a quick dip, if that is all you (or anyone else) might care for. If you choose to listen, I hope you enjoy it: th-cam.com/video/C1ZL5AxmK_A/w-d-xo.html

Love in all its manifestations conquers evil, because it is the creative force. Fear not. It is the way the universe is constructed. The greatest challenge is to respond to those in fear ( of losing power over others) with love. This is not approval of their actions, but recognition of the broken place it comes from - a wounded human who feels unlovable. If you can, send them love and compassion. A wise friend once said, Minds don't change minds - hearts change minds.
I started listening to this on loop when the pandemic hit. It was a bleak time. This song kept me gong. I can’t believe it’s been 4 years. It feels like a dream.
I saw this, and thought, who dare think they can cover this song. I was humbled, every note impeccable, the baritones exceptional, the lead did not embellish or put her own twist on it, this is a cappella perfection.
Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It'll be spring soon. And the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they'll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields... and eating the first of the strawberries with cream.
Pure perfection. Round notes and vowels with clear pitch. All 8 of you really listen to eat each other for that perfect blend. Love the crescendo and decresendo at the beginning especially although through more predominant at the beginning. This too was one of my fav movies, soundtrack, and song. I remain your devoted admirer and humble friend.
@@travilane yes I do mind when asked in that manner. I "think" it would be more enjoyable discussing with a baboon what it means to be human. Is this the sort of "discussion" you were looking for, or would you care to couch the request more courteously?

Behold, people of the Eldar and Fathers of Men, the day has come!' And all those who heard his great voice echo in the hills answered crying: 'Auta i lómë! The night is passing!'"

@@jovetj I really enjoy Enya, and in particular her songs of Celtic or Latin origin. Her vocals seem more delicate because they are multitracked. Different than here, but still wonderful. These voices are astounding, and their interpretations respectfully stand on their own.
Wow. I've heard the original Version of Enya. Because I couldn't believe it. Enya is very....... very!! nice! But... The mind-blowing blonde elf at the beginning is so ingrecedibly stunning... I love her voice, expecially in this Part of the Lord of the Rings. My heart was melting! It sounds so light, but I know, it's one of the hardest parts in the composition, to make it sounds so easy. In my expectation, it couldn't be much more better! But the crystal clear Soprano from the 2m-woman broke it all! Such a beautiful high but extremly soft voice I've never heard before! The tenor/bass-part is so relaxing after the Soprano Solo... Exactly in the right place; not just another piece in Soprano Solo, but beautiful chord progressions with suspensions... I got a nice goosebump with that deep voices! I love it! I hope my german-english is understandable enough, to make clear, how much I love this version! More Emotions than Enya, unexpectedly diverse voices... Keep going on, please! Your arrangements of Bach (Jesus bleibet meine Freude) I love the most! (Is it a Harpsichord in the background?) With Love and Respect -

If somebody thinks he does not have a heart, he would finally discover it. And my wounded heart heals, when I hear you. To say it simply, listening to your music, I feel that there must be other spheres of life, not visible. And that we can escape in these spheres when it is is no longer possible to stay on this earth.

I have never heard angels singing.,until I was listening to this video. What incredible voices. ♥
"Do you remember the strawberries, Mr Frodo?"
BRO can you not make me cry at work rn
I just came home from a happy pub night-out and this comment made me instantly cry.
😭
Damn Thomas....best comment at all.....
I remain your devoted admirer and humble friend.
may i borrow the words of Dragonsplay to say how much i am moved to listen to you. Thank you Voces8 ... and thank you Dragonsplay
Dragonsplay #anuna?
They even toned down their use of auto tune almost enough to ignore it. Almost.
@@jerryglenn5150 Autotune? Mind linking some points where you "think" you hear that...?
@@travilane yes I do mind when asked in that manner. I "think" it would be more enjoyable discussing with a baboon what it means to be human. Is this the sort of "discussion" you were looking for, or would you care to couch the request more courteously?
Blessed voices of Voces8! The main Soprano truly transports us to other spiritual realms. An angel in disguise . 🙏❤️
I don't have the words to express how much J.R.R. Tolkein has affected my life. This music is a great tribute to the legendary, humble man. Stunning.
When music cuts right through you and touches your soul. 😢🙏♥️
Living far away from home, this song kept me sane, before I was reunited with home..(Ireland) thank you!
This is what music is all about: To discover gems like these from time to time and to be able to listen to them over and over.
One group to rule them all
One group to enchant them
One group to stun them all
And in the music bind them!
One Song to haunt them all. . .
good. lovely
LOL! Well-played!
In the land of England, where the shadows fall.
One God to be praised forever.
Something magical about all the guys singing @2:03...♥♥ a Beautiful rendition by Voces8.
This so pure it hurts
This is the most perfect musical performance I have ever heard. The harmony, the timing and above all the sublime voices, beyond superlative.
"Unlooked for, Fingon's brother Turgon unleashed a force of ten thousand Elves from Gondolin; on seeing this, Fingon cried: 'Utúlie'n aurë! Aiya Eldalië ar Atanatári, utúlie'n aurë! The day has come! Behold, people of the Eldar and Fathers of Men, the day has come!' And all those who heard his great voice echo in the hills answered crying: 'Auta i lómë! The night is passing!'"
Lord Telperion - Nice! “The Silmarillion”?
@@calvinhobbes5686 Yup, from the Nirnaeth.
So fitting. One of my favourite passages from the Silm, a pure moment of hope and joy before the violence, horror, grief and despair of the Nirnaeth.
Children of hurin?
@@Daniel-gp6sd the Silm "Of the fifth battle: Nirnaeth Arnoediad", the one just before Túrin
My God, they are talented! Like listening to a choir of angels :)
Lord of the Rings helped me so much through dark times as a boy. Yours is a very beautiful rendition of that song. Thank you and God Bless.
It may be, the most beatiful thing i have ever heard.
I cannot get enough of their singing. Beautiful does not begin to describe it.
Joseph Gunderson - transcendent is the word that always comes to my mind,
Truth my brother, truth.
That baseline swoops in for the knock out. Absolutely stunning all around!
yes yes yes!!!!!!!!
Scrolling through seemingly-random comments and seeing Peter Hollens totally made my entire day
I was wondering if you'd seen this!
Peter, now you do a cover.
And now I see you already did... You work fast...

At 1:03 I get overwhelmed with emotion, every single time I hear this, everytime
Me too. It's like a massage to my nervous system, which leads to this tearful release. Just such a well written song, and Voces8 just excels at everything they do 😂❤
Enya has written so many beautiful songs. It would be interesting to hear VOCES8 take on her catalog. This is sublime…
But Enya's version of this is still better. It has a delicateness that this, while still pretty, lacks.
(Is it a Harpsichord in the background?)
With Love and Respect -
i get stuck in time where time stood still for more than 3 minutes listening to this.. and i just travelled so far... in so many years.. amazing voices amazing rendition
It almost feels like the Valar themselves are singing as they watch the journey from above, asking Sam and Frodo not to lose hope.
I have to say that I continue to find this piece to be a sublime, overwhelming thing of beauty. Thank you.
I watch this video every night. It’s my 2020 medicine.
This is the closest humanity can get to the majesty and pure beauty of Tolkien's elves.
Dear friends...please, ignore those 485 completely deaf people who dislikes this Music. i have been singin in choirs for 25+ ars and this is far the best slow song I have ever heard. No breaths, clear like a mountain stream..Shivering on the whole body and my soul is flying over the Shire... Thank you all VOCES8! That is just PERFECT! I know I cannot sing like you ever in my life...but I do not care...I am happy to listen now...and tomorrow...and the day after...again and again..
I cried tears I had not known for years and years. Thank you.
It's 2024, and I've just stumbled across this video and I am just floored by how beautiful this was to listen to. I've had a rough couple of weeks, but this song made me feel comfort which is something I've needed.
Just so Special they are.....❤❤❤
Would love to see them live.🎉
Oh, my heart, this is simply sublime!
The tall woman's voice is absolutely brilliant, clear like a forest brook. Marvelous rendition!
The bass is fantastic in this, my god!
The intro of the bass is spine tingling, brilliant all round performance, as always.
The TONE. The BLENDING. A++++ y'all understood the assignment
Sometimes the youtube suggestions really nail it. Beautiful.
Absolutely fantastic Andrea and Eleonore together with the choir and the composition of the voices - great
If somebody thinks he does not have a heart, he would finally discover it. And my wounded heart heals, when I hear you. To say it simply, listening to your music, I feel that there must be other spheres of life, not visible. And that we can escape in these spheres when it is is no longer possible to stay on this earth.
OMG that bass is so beautiful ❤️🤩.
I'm living for it
Just recently had hearing aids fitted and reliving my love of music, didn’t realise how much I missed not having them sooner !!
Beautiful song. Sung at a friend's celebration of her life.
