    So many reviewers are critical of the 5” climate control screen position. They miss the “+” symbol that opens the controls on the neighbouring 12.5” display. When used, the symbol becomes an “x” that will close the expanded display.

      Yes Robert that’s so true, it’s not an issue at all if you press the + button to extend it, I prefer the physical rocker buttons anyway. Thanks for sharing and leaving us a comment 🤗

      All car reviers copy each other one moans about a minor issue and they all jump on the band wagon, this car is a brilliant car for the money, the basic car is cheaper yes, the top spec car has a lot more kit than just a sun roof, you get what you pay for.

    Another thing to be aware of if you're going for Air trim in the UK is that you don't get an auto dimming rear view mirror. I've got one on order and only just realised this reading a forum-it isn't in the spec sheets on the Kia uk website! I haven't had a manual one for 15 years, so it'll be interesting how I cope at night with all the new matrix led headlights on the roads now😮

      Hey Jeff, in terms of an EV it is on the cheap entry side. As they cost a lot to make. Finding a lease deal I think would be the best way to get an EV these days. Good point about discounts on the Niro/Kona. I recently saw a Kona EV Advance spec with Comfort pack for a smidge over £30,300, that's a £9000 saving on RRP! We still ordered an EV3 though, as my wife found the Kona too big.

    At least in Germany, the heated steering wheel does not come as standard, only in some "winter package" (not that we wanted it)
    Anyway, the Air trim is for us, definitely. To me, thank heavens, it's not even an "suv". Compared to our 2007 Ford C-Max, measures inside and outside are almost identical. And this is really good news, it's almost as practical as a genuine minivan.

    In Ireland the specs are different for each trim level than those in UK.
    I have a straight GT on order largely for extra safety/driving enhancements. The HUD or heads up display is most important to me. Unfortunately the 360 degree cameras are not included. The GT S is not available in the republic but a heat pump is standard on Earth 2 up. Earth 2 is the 80 kWh Eart version.
    Colour selection is dull and uninspiring. Cutting board is a pain. Give me more storage.
    Keeping E Soul which my wife and I love. The EV3 for us is the new Soul. Good bye Prius HPEV.

    • @CarChatTV
      @CarChatTV  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Douglas, thanks for this and sharing what you get in Ireland, that’s good they give you the heat pump as standard on the Earth 2 and up! I think it’s £900 as an option for the bigger battery 81.4kwh version.
      The GT line definitely feels a lot nicer inside. The is Air is great value I believe, but once you step into a GT I think it would be hard to want to go back lol.

    • @Wittynut
      @Wittynut หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, 128kW sounds slow but the car holds this value constant from 10% to over 70% therefore it is relatively fast. The charging curve is important not a max speed that is only achieved for a very short time. The hardware in the car can do 150kW so there is a possibility that it is being opened up via software a bit later.

      I just checked charging speeds. Similar batterysize the ID.3 and ID.4 will charge 3-4 minutters slower than the EV3 in 10-80%. The EV3 has a lover max but keep the average over 100kwh, while the ID. models have an average close to 95kwh.
      Tesla e.g. has a max. 250kw but charges slower than the EV3 in 10-80%, because the charging curve drops dramatically

    I test drove GT model twice moderately in town & motorway mixed in a moderate manner. Shocking discovery is that it gives only 3.2 kwh which equates to 245 miles instead of 370 miles!!! Wow, 130 mile short of the false claim!! Acceleration is subdued, noisy with 20" tyre and backseat accommodate only 2 adults.... Test it for yourself to reveal the truth before part with your cash.

I’m loving my Niro which over 10,000 miles has averaged 3.8 miles per kWh but I’m getting about a mile less at -4 degrees - and that’s just fine by me as I’m charging at home, defrosting and warming the car by the app and getting into a toasty warm car before driving out into the snow. For me it is a wait until we can get EVs that can do at least 300 miles, highway in winter, once they are 5 years old and 60k miles on the clock and can be purchased second hand for under 10k. 260 to 330 miles around town.

Range is getting better, but I would just like to see a bit more. And I think it is cheeky of car makers to call things 'long range' when for most people, that would be a diesel car with a big tank that can do 600 miles, winter, highway. Most won't need that, but call the EV cars short and medium range if that is what they are... and that is what they all are for now.
