Agree! Good review. Shame they can't get the top models below the £40k cut off at the increased VED level, but that is our government's fault as they are so clueless. The ECS threshold should have gone up to around £50k or so.Which would have been fairer. Classic case of "fiscal drag": catching more and more in to paying more and more tax. But this will affect sales.
I like it. Think it looks very cool. The EV 6 I think is interesting, but would I like to see one outside my house...maybe not. The EV 9 is too big, and being honest I can't afford one. If I was going electric my short list would be down to this or the Renault 5. I know the Skoda Elroq is supposed to be very good, but Skoda's are no longer the great value they once were.

Yeah it's about time we had honest reviews giving "highway range" (which is when range actually matters) instead of simply quoting the marketing BS from the manufacturer with the irrelevant WLTP figure.
Well, I'm getting 340 -350 (eco mode) miles of range at the moment, even in the cold weather. That's in a GT Line S with the 19 inch wheels. And that is real world too. I do 200 miles a week (80% motorway, 20% urban) and still have around 130 - 140 miles of range left when I recharge at the end of week. 380+ should be no problem in the summer, for me at least.
@@wattouk Maybe contact a few of the other car channels that have done carried out world tests of EV range. Sounds like your car is exceptional. I have seen a test yet that has topped 380 miles. Are you using Duracell?
@ Press cars get absolutely hammered. Which is why the test results are always so poor. I drive like an EV is designed to drive. That's why I get good results. In "Auto" regen setting, the car will coast off the accelerator pedal for a long way on flat ground. Knowing when you can lift off and let the radar and navigation slow the car down to traffic lights and traffic, etc, helps with range more than you'd think.
I love the way it looks and it's obviously a very competent car as well. I think its great how in their lower spec cars, Kia don't give you switch blanks to remind you that you should have worked harder in life (unlike some of our European manufacturers). The only area I think it does fall down is that its relatively expensive on finance which may hold it back.
I like this I saw a black one in the metal and was nice, still looks like a lovechild of an EV9 and the original BMW i3 to me, not that that's a bad thing.
Great review on what I reckon will be the best selling car of 2025 in the Uk and this is the same spec I've got on order (Air with 81kWh battery and Frost Blue paint). 😁Just be aware that like the Pistachio Green on the GT Line and GT Line S spec cars, whilst the Frost Blue is described by Kia as a Premium colour (with subsequent cost implication), it is in fact a solid paint, not a metallic/pearlescent finish, so I'm going to stick a Ceramic coating on mine when I get it-I've found solid paint colours to be less durable than metallics in the longer term on other cars I've had (usually from new).
Who was the knobhead who decided to started flashing other links at us in the top righthand corner? That will work AGAINST your message at the end about Liking & Sharing! STOP! 😡
That's hilarious! I was thinking that the EV3 reminds me of a vehicle from my childhood (the 70's) and now I know what one! Still, I haven't exactly ordered an EV3 because I wanted a physically desirable car. I think my grandsons will like it as it looks like something built out of lego.😄
Despite the lighter colour on the bottom of the seats, I'm hoping that it will be hard-wearing and easily cleaned-this will be key for us, as my wife works with horses and she is not careful, by any stretch of the imagination. If you feel the material (they have an Air spec EV3 in my local Kia dealer and I've had a good poke around), it's actually quite a rough fabric (c/o the recycled nature-old fishing nets or something mixed in there?), so I hope this will bode well for durability, if not necessarily having a luxury feel like the fake leather does-I test drove a GT Line S and it does feel plusher. 'Not worth an extra £8000 to me though.
maybe one day, whan they put in a button to switch off all the annoying and distracting warnings these dumb cars come with...no idea which idiot found it a good idea that everything has to have a alarm that switches on again everytime you start the stupid thing.
Looks terrible and a history of fires. I'll keep my £34k for a proper car. "Hyundai Motor America and Kia America have issued “park outside” recalls for more than 3.3 million vehicles due to the risk of fire. Fires can happen while the vehicle is parked and turned off or while driving" Sept.23
What fires? Kia e-Niro and Kia Soul EV have never reported any fires. SK-On made the batteries and after nearly 6 years and 115,000 km mine has been faultless and with no loss of range.
