Quick Update : Apologies for forgetting to speak about the aspect of COST Effectivity of this machine. I think it's slightly overpriced at nearly Rs. 60K (depending on the variant) considering the mere specification, but it's built well. As per some information and informal chat with my friends, they found the pricing of Ideapad 510 by Lenovo slightly better bang for the buck as the configurations are similar.

Spec is different for 510 , its 7th generation I5, prices droped after 8th generation I5 got released, and I think its 4gb only, different display from 520, in croma it is offered for 45k in HYD, my friend bought in SEP 2017 for 54k.if 9th generation comes in second half of this year, price of present 520 version will come down,
you said its 60k when you purchased 2months before , now with paytm cash back offer it is around 56k,
Dear FluidicJoy, need to purchase a laptop for android studio development. Discovered this machine at a store which flaunts i5 8th Gen, 8GB RAM, 150MX Card against Rs.54000 and will receive 3 years warranty at an additional Rs.999. Wonder if I can install an SSD additionally in it. Do you have any idea? What do you think about Acer Aspire 5? Or could you suggest a good one near about Rs.50000?

+Oplinta Moshtak Depending on which bus you're in and the amount of room between two rows, the answer will differ. But the viewing angles on this laptop are really good, but since it is a large laptop, using it on the bus could be a hindrance.

Bro i purchased this laptop in 2017 November for 58k approx , trust me it has real heating issues , i replaced dvd rom drive in warranty , right now warranty is over I'm facing keyboard automatically functioning and also backlit is also not working for ctrl , scroll lock and num lock. Also there are certain issues coming up with the 1080p ips panel having some white patches. Lenovo services are pathetic once the warranty is over they won't let you even talk to customer care. MY REQUESTS TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE who are planning to get a laptop don't buy this and THOSE who have purchased LETS SUFFER TOGETHER that's all i have to say.

After searching for a good laptop for some time, I just ordered this one for around 550$. I hope it will be a good replacement for my PC that just decided to die (dead motherboard). I ordered version with i5 7200U, Geforce 940MX, 8GB of RAM and 1TB hard drive. It seems like a good one overall, and it's hard to find stuff like fingerprint scanner and backlit keyboard in this price segment.
@@mustafaslama Everything works good for me. It's a great one for browsing, office work and similar. Even if you are into gaming, it can run most of the games out there. Screen quality, keyboard and speakers are nice, so I can't really complain on anything. Overall, a very good laptop.

I bought this laptop when launched for56k. It was a good laptop served my purpose except battery is totally dead now ...is it possible to get the same official lenovo battery after 4-5 yrs now??
Your best bet would be the Lenovo Authorised Service Center.
I bought one in my country yesterday. The configurations were 8th gen i5 CPU, MX150 4GB (pretty good huh?), 2x4GB of Ram and 1TB HDD.

No you cannot. The Motherboard isn't built to accept adequate Power from the Type C port.

4) The 8k 60fps playback is smooth (Films&TV) when I use shared graphic memory. But, shows longer laggings when I use Nvidia card. Why? While Playing GTA5 this happens vice versa.
I don't think Lenovo offers these customisation for the end user. We might be able to retrofit it. I don't think it's liquid cooled. Must be ordinary cooling. Heat generation can be reduced by reducing processor load and background apps. Not sure about the FPS drop on the NVIDIa. Ask a few more experts on this.

I brought this laptop.And i am using from last 2 yrs ... I am sorry to say ..This is the worst laptop with poor battery life.. on an normal usage battery last for 3 hrs..If u play games then it will be just 2 hrs...And the worst part of this laptop is it will hang sometimes though it is having powerful processor ..I really regret after buying this..Since there r better laptops at 60k
I'm sure this isn't the best laptop battery wise, but I don't think it's specially meant for gaming. Battery is just about okay in this segment for normal day to day operations with moderate graphic work. There are better gaming laptops available today in this price point.
I have same laptop. Can you please tell whether it has M2.slot or not ? And please tell that after how much time should I replace HDD with SSD. I purchased this laptop in Aug 2018. Working good but battery is poor, Free fire bluestacks also lagging. 30-50 FPS only and drops down to 3 sometimes. Very rightly said no ssd and 3 usb ports were needed......also for an I7 pc this is so shameful that they have even not soldered M.2 Slot for an extra ssd that can be purchased and installed......SHAME LENOVO....!

Hi! Had a look at the Ideapad 520S. It is roughly 300 grams lighter, features the 8th Gen Intel Processor so battery life should be theoretically better. I'm not able to see the specifications of every model they might be offering in India. If you get this laptop with an internal SSD, then it will be a great performer at a price point of nearly 60K. And yes, a 14 inch size means this should feel more comfortable for carrying around. The overall experience should be nearly identical I feel.
Happened to realise something else. If portability and decent performance is what you seek, also have a look at the 14 Inch Lenovo Yoga 520 or the 14 inch Yoga 710 and they also feature a touch screen at similar price points. The right pick will depend on the combination of processing and graphics power(Video editing, Coding, Gaming etc) and the portability or versatility you seek (i.e touch screen requirement, 360 degree hinge, light weight.

+Samar's Gadgets World if you are a heavy multitasking user, I recommend you pick the i7 variant of this machine. Do check if you can upgrade to an SSD as that will boost your speed and performance while using multiple apps of high performance simultaneously. Gaming on the i5 variant with 960MX 4GB is okay, but won't run best titles in ultra frame rates.

Okay, try clearing unnecessary apps and if nothing works, go to a technician and switch to an SSD. Further upgrades could be switching to more ram

@@sairakshan7464 Software issue can be rectified using File Cleaning, Virus scanning. i5 is fine, but there are many other factors which translate to performance of a laptop. Switching to SSD will show you dramatic improvements in computing speed. Increasing RAM amount is also recommended for slow laptops.

Bhai 2TB HDD slow hoti hai, an SSD is expensive and a LOT faster. It will solve your bootup and speed issues. Also, DDR5 is fast, but 16GB or 32GB DDR5 would be way faster :) RAM is a quantitative variable too afterall

If you fail to grab the laptop I listed below, amzn.to/2kIbk4Y this is slightly costlier but has some killer specs. The typical 960MX graphics card is not suitable for ultra gaming. I recommend having the 1050 Graphics card which the Asus laptop I've linked has. It's a steal at 64K!

The ideapad 520 would be a great choice. But you should find one with 8th gen CPU and MX 150 as well. The 940MX is outdated. Otherwise you should look for Dell inspiron 7559 if you like Dell.

This LCD screen has 250 nits when it comes to brightness. My current 5 years old laptop has 270 nits. It looks like this screen is kinda dim. Or maybe not dim but also not bright enough.
What you think about the LCD yourself. Not only about brightness but also about the color quality. Your feedback is important for my purchase decision.

Not the best LCD display on the market. Just merely bright enough for use in harsh sunlight. Washed out colours on the lower end. Not very good for creators.
Can i use Ubuntu on it instead of Windows?
Yes you can, you can order a variant with DOS or dual boot Ubuntu

1. Battery life has deteriorated and needs to be replaced.
2. Too many apps running in background draining battery
3. Intense usage

What purposes are you using it for? If you are a heavy user, battery may run out faster. If you are using Speakers and Heavy Brightness and Wifi, battery will run out even faster. 3 hours is still alright. If it dips to lesser, do talk to your store.

+ASHISH RAWAT Cons of the device is that it's not a Touch Screen, is slightly noisy, graphics card is an old model and does not run games in ultra quality, and it does not feature an SSD which would have boosted the performance. But most windows laptops in this price point all have the same cons. It would have been good if MS Office was bundled at this price point.
