Picked up a weed eater last year. With parts of others I found I got it to work. When I run out of string I pick up another one, scrap it and save the string to use on the one I'm keeping. Just finished mowing my lawn with that thing. Free works for me!

The scrap yard here in Bathurst New Brunswick CANADA doesn't pay for fridges or freezers > but will take them for free . LOL
The scrap prices in my area are getting really high. Over $4 a pound for #2 copper. Tin shred is getting close to $300 per ton.

You would make more money if you take a little bit of time and remove the motors
Actually,copper motors are only paying 8 cents more than tin shred at the yard I use.Really not worth the effort to me.
