Today we welcomed a newcomer to Auckland Airport, not only that but we have snagged the world's longest route back thanks to Qatar Airways and their Boeing 777-200LR.
Having completed the 14,550km flight in just under 16 hours including the time for a photoshoot around the city is impressive.
Thanks to good planning from Qatar, they purposely delayed this flight by over 1 1/2 hours for better lighting conditions.

Before you comment on the flights duration, this particular flight was quicker than it's standard time of 16 hours 20 minutes however, the return leg is longer at 17 hours 30 minutes which I also have a video on. The reason I called this video the "World's longest flight" is because at 33 hours 50 minutes (combining QR920/921) this is the longest non-stop return service as of when the video was filmed and uploaded.

I'm very sorry the audio is really bad. I installed a new microphone, the Rode Videomic Pro, and it didn't come out good at all. If anyone can recommend the switch settings for the mic and the audio levels, that would be greatly appreciated.

Great Video shot of Qatar's B777-200LR landing and the water salute with no problems unlike the incident in Atlanta, Georgia. Qatar will have this title of the World's Longest Non-Stop Flight for at least a year or so then Singapore Airlines will reclaim this title once again of having the world's longest non-stop flight when it relaunches Non-Stop Service from Newark to Singapore Sometime in 2018 when they Acquire the Airbus A350-900 ULR Version.I didn't notice any bad audio quality, it was a great video shot and congratulations on your city having the title of World's Longest Non-Stop Flight courtesy of Qatar Airways, Now i just wish Gemini Jets or JC Wings would go ahead and do this aircraft model in a 1:200 scale,I'll definitely be ready to snatch it up!
Thank you very much, Brian! That situation was a shambles in Atlanta and never should of happened. Although I like the sound of Auckland partially owning the world's longest flight title, I can't wait for Singapore Airlines to reintroduce their Newark service.
Qantas will take the title off Qatar with its PER/LHR flight before Singapore enters the picture.

Wow, so my first long flight was from dubai to sydney, that was a quite long flight too :), first time changing hemisphere and leave europe ! From france to wellington. Right now i live in melrose suburb front of welly airpor. I can enjoy the 777 from Singapour airlines lands and take off. Nice video !
