  • I purchased this 1979 First Generation Honda Civic coupe that was in unknown condition and had been sitting for 16 years! The seller said it was a project car that he never got to and had done nothing to it. The first gen civic was made from 1973-1979 and came with the 1200 and 1500 (CVCC) engines. In this video, we attempt to save this classic and get it back on the road. Stay tuned for part #2 where we keep working to reviving this car with hopes of making a driver!

I have owned 4 of these cars and am currently driving one now. I learned to drive in a '73 1200. I love these cars and i commend you for your passion for these little gems. I see that your in the Oregon valley area, I live in Bend, Oregon and I think I am the only one that still drives one here because I haven't seen another one like it in over a decade.

Nice. I drove a 1977 1200 Civic in the early 1980s when it was relatively new. The thing would pull like a small rocket ship in 1st and 2nd gear for what it was. Great engines!

This was my first car! White, 4-speed 79 Civic 1200 (with a trunk though!)
I crashed it hard and then parted-it-out. BTW Accord seats will bolt right in for more/instant leg room!

Yep thought about putting those seats in. Heard their a little more comfy👍🏼

      @@Mechanic_kid Totally comfy :0
My black vinyl driver's seat exploded/shattered when I sat down on a frigid winter morning :)
      Hence blue Accord seats.

That 1200 will scream once you dial it in. That car is such a blast to drive. I had the 4 speed too. I was peeling out at every other stoplight. (I was 17 and the car was 6 in '85!)

I love what you're doing! If you paint some more stuff (rust etc) get some POR15 (POR=Paint Over Rust) A small can covers a lot more than you think! Amazing product.
Also try "Black Satin 3811" by 3M/Mar-Hyde for trim. My favorite spray paint on the planet.

Quick question. Is the engine lower centre mounting bracket screw to the transmission housing? If your answer is yes, then i know what to do.

@@Mobilebyth2 there’s a mount on Botha sides that go to the inner fenders. Then there is bottom supper that attaches to the bottom of the engine to kinda hold everything up. Hope this helps
