Clearing The Air... I wanted to get these things off my chest for a while as authenticity is extraordinarily important to me. I know this isn’t 100% of it but this is what I can offer currently to address these situations.
As mentioned in the video, deeper explanation videos coming when legally available. Please be patient as these are topics that I’d like to do my due diligence to ensure I am speaking about these topics accurately.
This goes without saying but please don't sent hate to anyone, any company, etc. involved.
Also a quick reminder I am human, still learning and growing.
Thank you for your understanding and compassion and thank you hearing me out.

How is it diff between drunk elephant and naturium...both using this platform to promote them...end of the day suzi or elephant do not care about what happens...as long as products are sold.
Suzi did by coming as nobody...talking about diff brands and mixed with her own...then said ohh this is my brand too...I forgot to mention. When people came after her...she continued to mention other products she uses so people think ohh she loves other brands too. Smart marketing.
And drunk came after people directly as u saying.
      So how are they diff?

@@NoMarkledZone I think it was explained pretty well in the video. Drunk elephant was attacking/blaming people for skin conditions they couldn’t control which is really different in my mind. Neither were good but since they’re two different issues in my opinion they should be judged differently accordingly

They have to make everyone happy. And that is the problem. Plenty of people just find ways and means to complain. For the Sephora comments, just because a company claims to be vegan, clean, etc etc, I do not stop mistrusting. All companies want to profit. And plenty of companies lie in order to get us to believe things. People automatically assume that big business is the only one that does this, all brands can, and do if given the chance. It’s in many ways a way to promote themselves and set themselves apart from a billion item industry. And the products may actually work so it may be a white lie.

When you criticize and discriminate on brands and ingridients you open yourself to an argument. For example, she told the whole world that shea butter and red algae is ok for acne prone skin...and I was like no no ...those ingredients are a no go for anyone with acne. We're working towards an ultra sensitive formula, more like Hyram...Hyram is boss when it comes to ingredients....

Doesn’t matter if one brand has good ethics/background. Fake review is fake review. Doesn’t nullify criticism just because it’s a good brand. That’s borderline censorship.

I think that if they're low key "pressured" to conform to Sephora's fake review practices to set foot in the industry, it is more understandable. Yet I agree with you, doesn't matter if you're all female led or something, fake reviews are fake reviews! Even if the brand itself didn't have anything to do with the reviews and it all was Sephoras fault... calling out fake reviews is helpful for others.

Why are you against people who care having access to this info, when there are plenty of resources for what you're looking for?

Cass, I dealt with really severe acne when I was 17, it was severe to the point I didnt like to shave cause some of my pimples would bleed. At the time I didnt had the amount of knowledge I have today and I just wanted all my pimples to disappear.
When I look to old photos I feel grateful that I had the courage to see a dermatologist cause I knew that my problems would only be solved by using tretinoin (and I was pretty scared). I have to admit that when I see those photos I usually think “how in hell did I go out with my skin looking like that” and I feel ashamed (I know I shouldnt be but it is what it is).
My profile pic is from december 2019 (8 months after I started my tretinoin treatment) and my skin already looked *WAY* better. You taught me about ingredients and how to deal with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and my skin is improving so so SO much.

On Naturium, as someone who works for an international company that deals with fortune 500 companies, I can speak to the complex nature of deals. NDAs are serious, one minute everyone is on board and ready to sign contracts, then the next second someone pulls out and wants XYZ added to the contract. Things get really messy and complicated on what can or cannot be shared, then magically one day all the stars align, and boom the deal is complete and someone is now a part of the deal. To the public, it looks like this all happened in a matter of seconds, or that shady stuff was going on, but the back end is soooooooo complicated and CANNOT be shared with the public in case it all falls apart at the last second.

I was so disappointed in Susan Yara, as I was a fan of hers and was very interested in Naturium. I even remember when she posted about Naturium on her FB group, saying it was better than The Ordinary and that she has gotten it in PR. And she absolutely knew better. There’s so much more, too-I was in her FB group and saw so many shady posts and comments. If there was anything that could have cleared her name, they would have been shouting it from the rooftops.
As for Liah, that was such a heartbreaker. I loved Krave’s MHHC so much, but I will never purchase from them again. From what I have read, Liah was in a leadership position in that church and donated a lot of money to them. Some of that money goes to anti-LGBTQ issues, so by buying Krave, I would indirectly be supporting anti-LGBTQ. I am not a member of that community myself, but I do not support discrimination.

If she had told everyone from the get go Naturium was her brand and was launching, obviously people would say they love it and it’s the best just because it’s her and that makes sense. Do I think it was the right move to launch the way she did? No. Because if you’re confident about your brand, it’s ingredients/formulations and philosophy then there’s nothing to worry about and people would enjoy it and know it’s good and it works. At the end of the day, we’re all human; we all make mistakes. I’m all about second chances, I myself have really been enjoying Naturium! Cruelty to animals because of the horrendous and unnecessary testing of products is an issue worth having strong feelings about 🐒 If someone really can’t choose cruelty free alternatives then it is what it is and there’s no need for those individuals to feel bad. However, there’s nothing wrong with people that are upset about the issue asking for cruelty free recommendations.

It’s so sad that we can’t know everything about the original naturium launch.:
    1. It seems that Susan violated FTC rules about sponsoring, having an interest and not disclosing it in her videos (and later editing the descriptions on her videos as soon as she found out kinda sus), and bashing the ordinary on her way.
    2. Her staff silenced people in her facebook group when they were calling her out about those possible violations.
    3. She posted an apology video and monetized it... that’s not very honest IMO, apologize and get a buck out of it?
    4. It’s not possible to find her apology video on the mixed makeup channel... why? So new subscribers won’t find out about it?
    5. On her Facebook Group she didn’t wanted to address the BLM movement, bc her group wasn’t for political talk. About that she changed and now is addressing Asian hate and other issues.

I think that the mindset that you cannot criticize a forward-thinking brand is a bit dangerous. Imagine a makeup company that is woman-owned, has diverse hiring practices, and give a lot in charity back to the community. If it was uncovered that that company was sourcing its mica from child slave labor, then I think someone would have a moral imperative to call that out, because all the good the company does is entirely separate from this one morally abhorrent act. While obviously what the company you are talking about did something much less awful than my example, what they did was still shady as heck (though as you mentioned it did sound like they might have been pushed into it by sephora). Calling out the bad a company does is not an indictment on the good that they do, it is a call to action for them to lessen the negative that they do.

I continue to buy naturium, not because “xyz is okay,” but rather it is in my budget, the items I buy from them are packaged in glass, it is cruelty-free, and it is made in the US.

I can 100 % relate to what Cassandra says about self-loathing and calling yourself names but other people with the same condition don't provoke those same feelings at all. I've gained some weight during the pandemic and absolutely hate myself right now, I call myself fat slug on average three times a day. But when I see other people who are plus size, I don't feel that way about them. I truly see how beautiful they are and their body size don't bother me at all. People fail to understand this. When it's your biggest insecurity, it's very easy to start hating on your acne, weight or whatever it is that bothering you. It doesn't mean people feel the same about others who have the same problems. I feel bad that she has to apologize for this. Those were her feelings and her feelings only about HER acne and not everyone else's.

"You can't criticise a brand because they're forward-thinking" Actually, you have every right to criticise a brand no matter their ethics and morals or what strives they are taking. NOT criticising simply because they are 'forward-thinking' is treating that brand differently from all others. If you want to be fair then all must receive the same treatment, that isn't something you should apologise for.
You also shouldn't apologise for what you say about your experience with anything in life, if you thought YOUR acne experience was horrific or horrible that's fine, you aren't explicitly saying that anyone with acne is horrible or disgusting. If people take that the wrong way or to heart then that's their issue, you aren't responsible for that even if you are considered an 'influencer' which is something more people need to understand. You shouldn't have to bite your tongue on your experiences or live your life on eggshells all because of others and their feelings.

As someone who works in the CPG industry, it is common practice to seed reviews before products launch. Sometimes it’s a timing thing, where the product detail page goes live, but product might be late. In terms of the reviews, consumers are essentially sent free product to test and write honest reviews so that they are available for other purchasers when the item actually hits the market. Having said all of that, if you don’t work in this type of industry then you wouldn’t necessarily know that so I can see how they might appear fake. I am also not saying that fake reviews don’t happen, because it’s definitely prevalent too, but the instance you described that just sounds like the normal review seeding process. I don't care about the drama and I'm waiting for their new sunscreens because these are the only ones that worked for my skin and for me financially..

Speaking for only who I can speak for (myself), I appreciate all the hard work you do to uncover, discover, test, and research skincare in order to be a short cut for others who are concerned about taking care of themselves the best that they can and who struggle with not only skin concerns, but with the self-love issues that often come with them. We ALL have our faults and flaws, but it seems so few of us are willing to face and learn from them.
Please continue to be the brave AND beautiful butterfly you have been. All examples we give others, right, wrong, or somewhere in the middle, are nuggets of golden wisdom on offer. You are one of the most kind, compassionate, caring and considerate creators on YT...that makes you one bright piece of gold, indeed!

I'm glad you talked through all of this, it gives a lot of us more confidence in you and really highlights your credibility.
Personally though, I am a bit underwhelmed by the part about naturium. I know your knowledge is confidential, however, nothing can change how many fans of susan yara feel/felt deceived by her. A major reason people won't support the brand is because of the advertisements/endorsements done by susan prior to her becoming a significant person within the brand (according to her and her apology) and not informing viewers about this change in relationship to the brand. I really don't see how any amount of confidential information could change the black and white aspects of this issue that susan herself admitted to in her apology.
However, if there is new information regarding this, I hope they will address it eventually because I had to stop watching susan after this due to how it made me feel as a consumer.

I agree! I just don’t understand what can be confidential.... like it made me even more confused. Before I knew all about naturium I tried their vitamin c serum and loved it but I won’t repurchase now. Also their new launches were so expensive to me (their fermented cleanser and balm) I asked on Instagram why for 3/4oz they were 20 bucks each which seemed like a lot so I asked if there was a reason why and was completely ignored.... idk. They seem shady. I love Cassandra so no shade but that part just made me more confused cause I thought there was going to be answers.

Susan outright lied about Naturium saying when one person asked her, “how did you find them?” Yara replied, “They sent me a PR mailer when they launched! It’s really good!” She violates FTC which states “FTC has issued clear advertising guidelines for content creators. Such guidelines include points like, “Clearly DISCLOSE when you have a financial or family relationship with a brand.” or “Ensure your sponsorship disclosure is HARD TO MISS,” among others.“

I know this is an old video but I really admire your bravery, talking about past mistakes and taking constructive criticism in a very mature way. You work so hard, always trying to learn from you mistakes and becoming an (even) better person, yet you still keep it real. Truly inspiring 🙌

I do not understand this demand for Cassandra to be somehow perfect in everybody's eyes. We all have the right to chose who we listen to and support, and she doesnt have to be that for every single persom. I wish that all that criticism doesnt make her change who she is and feel like she has to censor herself with every single word or thought that she shares.

Oh sweet Cassandra, I sooo felt you sis when you started opening up about how you view yourself with acne vs. others. Oh my gosh I sooo feel you. I am a Professional Esthetician (10years) and still get so emotional thinking of my acne or talking about it with others. Everyday I EMPOWER my clients to see their beauty and to not let skin issues define them . But with my own self.... I fall short of that. It was such a dark time emotionally when I had acne ... it's not a feeling we like to relive. And that's just how it comes out when we think or talk about it. Period. I get it. That's really all I wanted to say ... someone else in this crazy world gets it too ♡

That's exactly right people know better that she's not looking for trouble or insults. But in the time we're living now everyone has to be a victim of something

I really appreciate the general attitude of accountability you're bringing here - some of these situations I feel you don't need to explain, some I think are important to speak on, but the general attitude is important. Just passed the bit where you correct yourself from saying people were "attacking" to "rightfully criticising" - love that. Hope you feel less anxious about these misunderstandings moving forward xx
