Every time Mike does a junkyard vid and is intrigued by the 60s classics, I always imagine it would be fun to see him build one up with some jdm flair and use it as the “shop truck”/ towing rig.

That eclipse is the 1.8l version. On the 1g eclipse If it had 4g63 2.0l the timing belt cover was to high. That is why they added that bump in the hood to clear the timing belt. At least that was the reason for 1g as some 1.8l had the flat hood. On the 2g if I remember correctly the bump was not needed but they added it anyway because it became so iconic. Man you should get on of these especially the 1ga (because popup headlights). They are so fun to drive and they have huge aftermarket support. But good luck finding a clean one.

    • @PrizzaMike

@@PrizzaMikeyes but the 2g came with either a 1.8 like the one you saw a 2.0 or the 4g63. Gst and gsx are the turbo models. Gs and Rs are nonturbo models and timing belt is on different sides of the motor so it makes it very hard to swap that amazing 4g63 in a cheap non turbo model peek my eagle talon on my channel same as 2g eclipse just better styling and looks much more aggressive. Love the vids Mike

That convertible has a 2.4L not a 1.8; only some na 1g cars had the 1.8L. A na spyder (gs) has a 4g64. For 2g’s in the states, Rs and Gs have 2L 420a engines while gst and gsx have 2L turbo 4g63

@@PrizzaMike I found my rust free 2g in my state up in new England (Vermont) deep in the rust belt, mine was already fully built and was a really accurate fast and furious replica, the motor has receipts for a bunch of mods but I replaced it with a stock motor until I can get ARP head studs and a standalone fuel management system for it since it's a turbocharged N/a. It was clean just not stock, but I've converted it to mostly stock for now lol

Also that lil saloon around 7:00 has gotta be some sort of morris minor or something similar, certainly looks it, from what's left anyways lol. It's always so surprising to see english cars over there in the states, good riddance to the tr7's though, built like shit, good ol british leyland. As for the hood bump on 2g eclipses, I always assumed it was clearance for the 4G63.

So sad seeing a sonic yellow bugeye wrx in that junkyard. Definitely the most rare wrx color we got here in the states. The slicktops were actually the common option while the sunroofs were rare. Everything else about it is shared with a normal 02-03 wrx

Today’s standards had made it impossible for cars to have interesting body lines; everything looks like a round brick, soulless, and has boring colors. I hope that with the increasing popularity of retro futurism people start appreciating this older car designs. #BringThePopUpsBack

In the 80's, my Dad had a Ford LTD station wagon. The coolest part as a kid is it had a back seat in the trunk area that kinda sank into the floor and you faced the rear window. The most interesting part about that car are the taillights, never seen any like those before

2G GSX owner here, the bump on the hood was done solely for the 4G63 variants of the DSM's (GST/GSX) but for mitsubishi to save money they used the same hood for all the trims, and if you didn't know the motor that was in that 2G Spyder was a SOHC 4G64 (2.4L), which is a common base for 4G63 Strokers, as the 4G63 Head just bolts onto the block, and you can just throw on your own turbo kit, etc for a 2.4L Stroker 4G63 👍

3G owner here, only good thing about our chassis is we got the 4g64 and it somewhat accepts 2g/evo parts, absolute shite engine from factory but has loads of potential. One day I’d love to build a 2.1 destroker, but I’d only do that if I was awd swapped and going “full race car”

The flat faced truck had an IH badge for International. Side note, the box shaped SUV looking car that was a white/green was also an International, a Travelall. The M badge small car at the beginning was an early Morse Miner. The Triumphs you saw were probably late 70s Tr-7 models, known for their wedge shape. That Porsche was an 80s 944 that had a front V6 or V8 engine. Strange for a Porsch, a company known for mid-engine sports cars but now considered an affordable "Supercar" now, if you can count Porsches low end consumer model a supercar. You can find running models for under 10k and they have a real fan base in the US.

1980’s 944 is correct but they had 4 cylinders. 2.5 liters for the earlier cars with the later editions and the 968 getting a 3.0 liter 4 cylinders. The 928 from the late 70’s through the early 90’s had a V8.

That’s a Fiat 850 Sport Spider, my father used to have one and I drove it for a while. That’s a second generation with a 900cc 40something hp. Funniest thing is that the front lights from the first series and the rear lights for both of the series was also used on the Lamborghini Miura, a 3million dollars car. They don’t worth much, but I would take them as a memorabilia.

Lamborghini always stole parts from other brands because was a really small company. The Lamborghini Diablo shares the front lights with the 300zx 😂

13:38 is an oddball. It’s a Mercury Capri from the late 80s/early 90s. An Australian built front wheel drive 2+2 convertible. It shared engine components with a Mazda 323. 22:53 is also a Mercury Capri, but for some reason they wrote “96 Capri” on it. 1994 was the last model year.

Looks like that was a 944 S. That thing has a really pretty rare (and expensive) DOHC cylinder head.
Love the 944, I recently just got mine running with an LS1 in the front. It was super fun to build and even more fun to drive!

24:35 Those are Triumph TR7's. Back in the 70s they'd be considered normal sized in Britain I think, thats where they come from. I own a 1980 triumph spitfire 1500, tiny little things. The designer of the TR7 was Harris Mann, its the car hes most famous for.

4:52 I believe the white section on the odometer rolls over every .10 of a mile, so that truck would have 5,402 miles on it. I have a Ranger with that style Mileage Readout, I guess they didn't think they would last past 100k miles to not put a spot for it.

So fun fact... the Ford LTD II is from the 70's. specifically is an automobile produced and marketed by Ford Motor Company between 1977 and 1979.
The Pontiac Eight straight-8 engine is an inline eight-cylinder automobile engine produced by Pontiac from 1933 to 1954. I believe some of the other cars you looked at with some of the hose hard body lines and shapes also derive from the 50's. I hope this helps with that little knowledge I had.

8:16 That’s an International Harvester, not sure on what model, they make industrial trucks and tractors. They used to make pickup trucks and SUVs until the late 70s or early 80s. My dad and I have an International Scout 80 which has a Ford Bronco-like body with the philosophy of a Jeep, they get mistaken for Broncos a lot but they are a bit more “utility” and have inline 4 engines (until the Scout 800 and Scout II which had v8 engines and more luxury features to compete with the Bronco)
