Pasquale thank you so very much. So kind of you. And so grateful to meet you. For me a couple keys, I will often shoot with pure intention of BW, so focused on contrast, shapes theory, and people. The other thing is I will always shoot in raw to preserve the most of my highlights and blacks. Often a slight under exposure knowing I can recapture in edit just Incase. The other thing is learning what colors complement each other in BW. Like a red next to a yellow or shades of blue. Hope that helps and happy holiday
RJ that means so much! glad I could get you back virtually on the street! I absolutely love the little GR3. Hopefully you can get out and shoot again soon! I just purchased a new camera to add to the collection. So i should have a lot of cool new shots coming in the next few weeks!!
@@ScottGudahl I may just have to see about getting a GR3 some day. I've heard only great things. Whats the new camera you got? Is there a good place to keep up with your shooting and see the new stuff?
A lot great shots. The motion blur shots in the subway... but my favorite one is 7:28 . Maybe i will recognize a place where i have been while my honeymoon in 1998 someday.
I hope I find that spot too! Thank you so much for the support and please come back again when life goes back to normal! vancouver is such an amazing city. And thats also one of my favs from the shoot! thanks Markus
You should I absolutely love this camera. Just dropped a video with it in San Francisco. My other major go to which honestly i love so much is the fuji x 100v both incredible cameras if looking for a small camera with big potential :)
Wow!!, amazing photos. I have 3 favourites: the first of the metro train "fixed", the first of the skater jumping, and the one of the man driving the car. You are a very good photografer. In other way, ¿what about the screen of the camera? I have an old version (2009) and it is small and poor in day light.
Barry so happy to connect with you and welcome to the channel!! these are the comments that get me so excited to create content. I just got a new street camera i cant wait to get out there. I appreciate you a lot for stopping by and leaving comments it means a lot
...really enjoyed this episode. Black and White photos are my preference. Your low angle shots and long exposures are refreshing. I live in the States and people are incredibly suspect. I genuinely believe that should I try street photography in any place other than a busy, busy city, or tourist city like D.C., the police would be called immediately. So for now, I will enjoy street photos from you and others. Stay safe.
Nice work mate, enjoyed that, nice music too. I saw a shot you could try - looking down the length of the train when the doors opened they all seemed to step out at once - would look cool with just the legs and maybe half body? Also noticed when you were walking down into the subway you had a shot framed up with reflections on the ground, but you didn't take it? and then you popped up an edit note to self to go back :-)
Steve thank you soo much these are the exact comments that inspire me to get out and try new things. I love that Idea. I'll make sure to get one of those next time in in there. New goal for this week! Thanks man, yeah i felt when i got home i totally failed such a cool area in that stairway. Thanks for the comment buddy means a lot!
Sameh!! thank you so much for stopping it! means a lot. I normally always shoot in hi con or regular black and white. This day I was on black and white, but still edit everything in RAW from color to what i saw on the day plus any additional tweaks. Do you have a ricoh? I love the high contrast with highlight weighted metering
@@ScottGudahl yes i got my ricoh about 2 months ago and I love it, I too loves the high contrast B&W, I am new to photography and sometimes I feel that the high contrast is too much, when do you think it shines better, on a sunny day or on overcast? And how you tweek the details on the profile itself? Like sharpness,clarity..etc? Thanks again and love your work
@@samehghally9628 If youre new to Photography I and love black and white, shoot on the black and white setting in both raw/jpeg center weighted highlights. I edit all my photos in RAW back to black and white, but love to shoot with black and white in camera so i can see the world through no color if that makes sense. Love connecting with other Ricoh users. super happy you commented!!

I friggin love my Ricoh GRII- I've completely stopped taking other cameras out for like a year now and only shoot with BB (shorts for Bad Bi--h) for the most part. I love your shots, and your video. What are you using to film POV?
Anthony Hi!! It kind of varies but this entire video was on manual, which i shoot about 90 percent of the time. I was shooting manual, center weighted, and in the preset of of normal black and white on the Ricohs settings. I also love to shoot highlight weighted as well as high contrast preset. I only use the presets to visualize what im looking for in the LCD screen though. I shoot both jpeg and raw. But 99% of the time I will edit all my photos in raw to what i saw on the day in black and white. Hope that helps. Do you have a Ricoh?
@@ScottGudahl yeah I got the GR iii and love it, I shoot in Hyperfocal Manual, F8 , Center Weighted, Auto ISO, Snap Focus at 2.5. (set it and forget it) . I used to shoot in Program Mode and got alot of great shots however I'm a bit of a Controll Freak so I like being able to Controll every aspect. now something I'm always battling with is color vs black and white. I love both but mann... I like them both for different reasons. I do all my photo editing on my Phone (VSCO and once in a while Snapseed). Do you have any input or recommendations? What colors would create complex shapes and variation in a black and white image. But lets link on IG. so glad we connected

Right.. honestly nothing like reviewing the footage to see all the shots I may have not seen. I've found its helped me grow as a photographer though. thanks for taking the time to check it out
Hey Gojiro! I always shoot both at once. but I will say I 95% of the time will edit the Raw file. The Jpeg will show me what I shot in BW but the Raw is still in color so it gives me tons of flexibility to edit hope that helps
Beautiful shots and good eye for composition but why all photos are in black and white? I agree that your black and white shots are beautiful with excellent contrast but sharing color photos has its magic too... Also I noticed that 99% of your photos are shot vertically, which again I believe sharing horizontal ones would be beautiful too
Salwan! that is such an amazing comment! i'll add more of both to upcoming videos! such great insight. Thank you for taking the time to let me know what you'd like to see more of. Appreciate you
@@ScottGudahl thanks to you for your quick response and thank you for sharing beautiful photos too.. I really loved what I saw and again your black and white shots are amazing but adding color ones would definitely add more to the already beautiful content... Also there's nothing wrong with shooting vertically but again adding horizontal and probably even diagonal ones would again add to the overall beauty... Thanks for everything and all the best... Oh... Also there one more thing that I'd like to add if you don't mind... My problem with the street photography episodes on TH-cam is that in general the photos presented are almost always empty, e.i. There is no stories behind them. I understand that sometimes the power of a photograph lies in its beauty as when shooting for the esthetic content but again the majority of the stuff shared on the net at least to my knowledge is void of this element too.. I noticed that with your photos the case was different that is why I'm encouraged to write to you.
@@SalwanJBinni Wow I think that is such a valid point! I fully agree with you on that!
