This song is pure joy. Brings happiness to everyone who hears out, no matter when through the years. I loved these guys in 1971, and now I'm 67 and love them even more.
@@senianns9522 @Suldog29 Same thing here... I am 64 years old now but back in 1973-74 ish those tunes written by Focus would air on my local radio very very often ( I truly mean VERY ) and roughly ten years later I would find myself in this very same radio station working as a broadcast technician and sound engineer and, one day while sifting though the massive record collection we had ( 70 thousand records approx ) I found the original 45 rpm with Sylvia on side A if recall correctly and I "borrowed" it ( nobody would ever play that record again back then so nobody noticed that this 45 rpm was "missing"if I may say so ) but in fact, in 1989, my radio station experienced a massive fire that destroyed nearly everything including all those records and in the end that one record was saved from this devastating event "thanks" to me or "because" of me ( I'll let you decide ) .... Anyhow, I still have this 45rpm as of today and this truly is a magnificent souvenir of that "discotheque" ( in French ) which burned almost entirely on the night of Easter 1989 ( It took 72 hours to the firefighters to completely put off this fire. ) Also very sadly the "keeper" of that massive collection died of pancreatic cancer in early 2023 and I don't even remember if I told him or not that I had that famous record in my hands at home... Fond remembrances but also fraught with quite a bit of tears and sadness given the way things evolved later on...
The Netherlands: "we beat the Spanish, French, English, Belgium and helped our allies beat the Germans. Our art is second to none, and our culture is considered a delight everywhere". Also, the Netherlands: WooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHA!". Mental.
good musicians having fun with a zany piece of music which was a big hit in the day. the falsetto/scat/yodeling voice and whistling with facial expressions by Thijs Van Leer was hilarious, entertaining and well done
I swear Akkerman was so in the zone during that Midnight Special performance those solos were like lightning in a bottle. Of course he's always shredding but that one performance was just perfect on so many levels.
@@fmtfniuprog8029 as good a guess as any, though I've never seen a variable speed controller for a Leslie...usually it's just a 2-speed switch on the side of the organ by the low register, so I don't know. It's a strange looking device.
It's a shame that with all these years the band put in, to entertain the public, that the last establishment didn't have consideration to provide adequate weather protection at the end of this video...

The loony child of Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson and something Deep Purple left behind at an early pub gig that they didn't want because it was a bit weird even for them. This is why the Soviets lost the Cold War-it wasn't blue jeans, the Rolling Stones, democracy, or anything like that-it was because the KGB could never keep this down, even with a million men wearing ridiculous and outdated hats.

Same for me! Stayed up late to watch OGWT and was rewarded with this classic performance! I'm 73.

MAGIC!!!!! ONLY MAGIC!!!
Focus made people headbanging🤘🤘🤘
Would've been cool if they got fans to Mosh, personally I Would've liked to see some stage diving.🤘😝🤘
I am enchanted by Pierre van der Linden. He seems to flow like a waterfall across the drum kit. Wonderful drummer.
It seems effortless
His brother Rick van der Linden was also a talented musician, a leader of Eskeption. One of my favorite bands.
OMG..the drumming, the yodeling, all of it is mind blowing, just brilliant
They put a smile on our faces, those zany Dutchmen; Pierre van der Linden and his amazing chops. Thanks ever so much for the memories.

O rock dos anos 70 era outro nível. A guitarra soava muito melhor que nos anos 2000.
I could listen to Hocus Pocus by Focus all day 😊
You just DID
bro me too me and my son love it 😂
Grandi Focus!

One of greatest band ever
Greatest live performance was on Midnight Special intro by Gladys Knight
The only standing ovation ever on that program.💪
That keyboard player might be one of the most entertaining people iv ever seen .... that was sick
Tys van leer is his name
Thijs Van Leer
Thank you, thank you for this video! They were very good looking young men and incredible musicians. I’m from the U.S. but my heritage is Norwegian!

Guys still doing this song there video of him
I want to be elected President of the Thijs Van Leer Fan club
May I be Vice President? lol
I think Focus was enjoying a little Cocus during this rendition of Hocus Pocus
in the first clip, what is that device on the organ bench beside Van Leer that has the big adjustment knob on top of it? I've never seen that clip..
I also saw the big button... could it be a controller for Leslie's speed?

Looks like a variac. Big variable resistor. I can only imagine it controlled the speed of the pulse

Exactly!!
I like '74 the up tempo one.
Molto bene grazie-frufru-32t
What is the meaning of the lyrics, who can tell?:)

Ironically, your band collage is not too far off, that describes their sound in a great way...

HOCUS POCUS だけ初期のメンバーの演奏から時代を追ってつないだビデオ。
なかなか面白いが、演奏途中でつないでしまうのはちょっとどうかなー?
それにしてもタイスはいつまでFOCUSを続けるのか?
Focus on rautaa.
