  • Hi Friends!
This is way different than I usually post but I can't wait to share it with you nonetheless! I was sick and tired of looking at my builder grade pantry bursting at the seams. I knew I could do so much more with it! We recently decided to do a partial kitchen makeover and I knew the upper cabinets would be coming out. I stole 2 of those cabinets and used them as lower cabinets in the pantry, topping them off with a 12x1 wood countertop, stained and cut to size.
As for the existing shelves, I knew I didn't want to replace them right now because of the expense. Instead, I made an "overlay" out of 5mm plywood and 1x3 strips of wood nailed to the front to camouflage the existing shelf. After all was said and done I was left with a gorgeous functional pantry that was able to allow for a ton of storage without being too cluttered. I bolted nothing to the walls so if you want to remove easily, you can! (I suggest that if you have little ones, you may want to make these items more secure to prevent injury)
Here is a list of supplies all purchased from Lowes:
    Plywood: www.lowes.com/pd/RevolutionPl...
    1x3 Pine Board: www.lowes.com/pd/Top-Choice-C...
    Minwax PolyShades: www.lowes.com/pd/Minwax-PolyS...
    1x12in x 8ft pine board: www.lowes.com/pd/ReliaBilt-21...
    Sherwin Williams Dorian Gray: www.sherwin-williams.com/home...
The rest of the tools and supplies were my own things I already had. This was a really fun project that had a huge payoff for me. The best part??? IT WAS UNDER $100! Because I up-cycled my kitchen cabinets I was able to save a ton. If you don't have any that can be recycled, I suggest you check places like Habitat For Humanity Resale Shops, Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist to see if you can find some for cheap or even free!
I'm going to continue sightseeing around central Florida, but occasionally I will be doing some DIY and home improvement videos. I will start a new DIY playlist for those videos if you ever want to take a look.
Next up for the house will be my Kitchen makeover and that video will be coming soon.
Thank you so much for your support and kindness as I navigate these new waters. I still don't really know what I am doing most days when it comes to vlogging but I love learning about it and I feel like my content is improving.
