Great honest review of the reel. I’ve been looking at them for a while and think I’m finally going to pull the trigger on one.
Was in the vicinity earlier this week and was able to get in some nice red groupers.

Is the Shimano alot higher quality than the Daiwa Bite n Run Emcast BR LT 5000-CP listed at Walmart?

Hi, which line would you recommend on the 8000D? I am mainly going to do live baiting pinfish, mullet, etc. from bridges and beach.

I have always used 50 braid, but I would probably recommend 40 braid. The main reason I like having the 50 is getting snook out from under bridges, but the line capacity isn’t as good if you hook on to a tarpon or use it offshore. If you are fishing a lot of bridges it may be worth the 50, but you could also just use a longer leader.

You don’t have to flip the switch when wanting to reel while using the bait runner feature. It does it automatically

That weekend was rough I didn’t catch a single thing since it was a small craft advisory😔

You can usually get those mackerel right out of the bay. I was only a few hundred yards from shore.

Sorry to hear that. I just dont know if that tactic is the best here in Miami. Maybe try going down to Falmingo and renting a canoe or kayak sometime.

@@FishFactsTV did that and caught a 25 inch snook, some reds, and a bunch of trout. Sadly I can’t do it often but jr sure is fun.
