The "0.36mm" is NOT the depth of the spool. That is the diameter of the line. Most rods will list by both the strength (___ lb. test) and by the diameter. I'm curious to why on one hand your saying stay away from "Cheap" rods and reels overall ....and from NGT (I guess it could have been any company really)...when in fact the reels im looking at either the NGT7000 or NGT9000's look mint ..and aren't as cheap as yours.... I was so impressed I'm going to buy 3 more in the lower TC of 2.5 and pair them up with my Shimano 10000XTE's and keep my 3lb FOX Warriors on a back burner for a bit. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but to dis a company about being cheap and then buying a reel that's even cheaper and claiming it far better seems a little counter productive. Having said all of that you presented the video very well ...... and if I do decide to go for the reels I have already stated Ill let you know if they are a waste of space........ you have my word .......... GaZ
A Fishing Trip With GaZ hi Gaz no m8 just the BGT baitrunners. I have tested 8 and a few others I know have tested about 5 each time after a few fights with upper double carp they fail most common is the baitrunner system clip snaps inside so you can not use the baitrunner. Don't get me wrong there are some cheapish ones that are top notch for under 30 pound a reel like the Shakespeare ones in my video. Each time NGT reels have last max 6 months. Thanks for your comment gaz
Hi mate baitrunners do not really have front drag/clutch if you want you need to buy just a front drag reel. You can buy baitrunner and a front clutch but very expensive! It's normally personal choice to go with a bait runner or just a front drag system mate.
I have got this reel and its a very well made reel for the price I paid £17.99,The mono supplied with the reel is 14lb breaking strain. The front adjustment is for the spool drag the rear adjustment is for the bait runner drag, its a nice reel and I have managed to bank some nice sized Carp, nothing to break any records mind you but nice fish for me.
Hi mate the dial on top of the spoon, is just a wing screw cap it holds the spool onto the reel, if that was not screwed in then the spool will just fly of etc, that's it's only purpose. Cheers
The Carp Man hi thanks for the fast reply, my Korum shadow 3500 has a plus and minus sign as in it saying it’s tension for something, should this be as tight as possible then ?
@@Jdowgg92 hi mate I think you are referring to the back drag tension, plus and minus, yes the minus is for more line to give to the fish on a run or leave it set so you can decide how much line you give to the fish on a take set this once your out fishing and set your rods down depending on the lake and conditions and if your fishing next to snags you will need to decide how much line to give the fish, plus for less if you turn it all to the plus sign until you can not go anymore you reel will be locked and you won't be able to pull any line of the spool, only fish like this if you are fishing very tight to a snag! And or you sitting by yours rods ready to pick up the road right away if you get a take, if not chances are the fish will pull your pod or bank sticks over and you could lose ya rod in the lake etc, some reels the plus and minus are reversed, so minus will be less lime plus will be more line mate
The Carp Man thanks for the reply again and the detailed explanation a video on it would be even better I’m a little overwhelmed by it all and don’t quite get it 😀
Nice vid - I get the rear drag but how do you set it at the spool end ? I've never used a real with a rear clutch before ( its been a long time ) Do you just tighten the front up and let the rear do the job for you ?
Hi no you set the rear drag by the knob on the back of the reel, normally you turn it left to give more line or tighten it up to the right to stop line being taken mate. Most reels that have baitrunner system won't have a front clutch/drag mate that real on the front you un screw it to unable the spool to be pulled of mate.
Reels that have front clutch/drag only like fox etc won't have a baitrunner system click on and of etc, you set it all from the spool end and adjust it how much line you want to give the fish etc. You can get a baitrunner reel like the one in this video or you can buy a reel that only has front clutch/drag and always set from the spool end on these reels but baitrunner reels you set from the backend of the reel mate.

I'm curious to why on one hand your saying stay away from "Cheap" rods and reels overall ....and from NGT (I guess it could have been any company really)...when in fact the reels im looking at either the NGT7000 or NGT9000's look mint ..and aren't as cheap as yours.... They have all the features of the FOX12OOOfs but cost far less money .... and to be honest I can get 3 of the NGT's for the same as one FOX12000 ...... on a side note I have just purchased 3 CK350XD 12ft 3.5TC Rods with 50mm butt rings from Carp Kinetics for ...... wait for it ........£54.99 which sound terrible ..... but the rods arrived all in their own bags and look like any top of the range Carp Rod ....
The Carp Man Now it all makes sense mate .... wasn't dissin you or your video fella .... tight lines ...GaZ ☺
really helpful many thanks
No problem mate
What about the tensioner on the spool?
Very good video ell explained
stephen buckham thank you
One quick question, how do we set the tension on the top drag?
Hi mate baitrunners do not really have front drag/clutch if you want you need to buy just a front drag reel. You can buy baitrunner and a front clutch but very expensive! It's normally personal choice to go with a bait runner or just a front drag system mate.
@@davidrhodes-varley441 Okay thanks alot for the fast reply. Really great help! I'm definitely subscribing
@@DwightSchrutes thank you big things coming mate
I have got this reel and its a very well made reel for the price I paid £17.99,The mono supplied with the reel is 14lb breaking strain. The front adjustment is for the spool drag the rear adjustment is for the bait runner drag, its a nice reel and I have managed to bank some nice sized Carp, nothing to break any records mind you but nice fish for me.
This might be a daft question, but can you use these reels to catch normal fish or is it carp specific?
Normal course fish to is fine mate
@@davidrhodes-varley441 thanks mate appreciate it, I’ve just ordered one that’s all so hoping to get out the weekend with it.
@@darreneaton9901 no problem mate they are good reels mate
a big help. thank you
What about the dial on top of the spool itself ?
The Carp Man thanks for the reply again and the detailed explanation a video on it would be even better I’m a little overwhelmed by it all and don’t quite get it 😀
Well explained..!!
I'm with you now. Thanks for taking the time to explain.
Alright Varley didn't realise you had a youtube channel 🤣🤣🤣
