The best part of that game is... doing nothing at all while the camera orbits around Catwoman while she does sexy poses for the camera. Yeah.
And this is after she was Storm from X-Men. Working for Disney and Warner Bros 2 make these. Working for the mouse and working for the rabbit. But Disney didn't own Marvel during the time of this yet but I'm just throwing it out there.

I still stand that lots of times women are protrayed as attractive while wearing modest clothing (Zero Suit Samus, Black Widow, Catwoman (in her full suit), various Disney Princesses in full dresses, various ladies in anime (like Komi in KCC, who wears a unrevealing uniform and is still pretty), and so much more). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so people have various ideas and depictions of what makes attractive women. Regardless, the movie Catwoman suit looks stupid. The full suit makes her look both more dignified and attractive.
The Sad part is Halle Berry could have been a Great Catwoman with a decent Script and better direction. I'd even say that she could have been a better Catwoman than Storm.
Or, if this movie was actually a prequel origins story for the Eartha Kitt's Catwoman from the Adam West Batman TV series, that would have been much better than this actual horse-shit movie.

I found Catwoman in a clearance bin. The movie was about as bad as everyone says. The DVD had an hour long feature on the various women that have played Catwoman and was hosted by Eartha Kitt - that was actually great.
I actually just tried to look it up. Amazon had a picture of the back cover so I was able to find the title - the Many Faces of Catwoman. Sadly it is not on TH-cam whole, I can only find fragments.
20:44 - I think I'm gonna be sick. And no, not because this statement can easily be viewed as perverted by some people. My problem is that we have already seen what Strathie talks about done rather well... in Batman Returns. But it was portrayed with taste and a certain amount of subtlety. However, that's not the only thing the Catwoman costume represented in that movie. It also mirrored the patchwork for the Frankenstein Monster and the more damaged it got, the more it reflected Selina's gradually deteriorating mental state. Then again, Batman Returns had good direction, good storytelling and good acting - none of which are anywhere to be seen in this sorry excuse for a movie.

The original 1995 script had a character called "Captain God" in it and I recommend everyone read it. I don't know if it would have been a good movie but it certainly had more interesting ideas than The Mask vs The Wasp Woman.

You know, Linkara, while I do like you because you’re really awesome, this review kinda made me realize there’s a bit more of a connection here than with other guys I watch. See, you have a tendency to really dig into the themes and such of your review material, deeply analyze why things do or don’t work, and pull out elements that others might not pick up on (for example, the dual personality stuff here that might have been interesting if this was its own thing). As a reviewer myself (blogger on Equestria Amino), I’ve found I’m exactly the same way. Just thought that was nice, I guess. Keep on keeping on.

Anybody else think Linkara should review "The Mask" comics from Dark Horse? I recently watched some fandubs of them, & they're actually pretty funny, if not darker than the 1994 movie.
I remember actually excited for this film when I was much, much younger, since I thought Catwoman herself looked pretty cool and the ads made the film look vaguely Spider-Man esque. Plus, I'm a sucker for gentlemen thieves/cops & robbers, Jekyll-Hyde dynamics and Catwoman/Spider-Man-esque acrobats. Real shame that turned out the way that did.

In this move Bast's blessings allow psychologically damaged women to dress up in silly outfits. Point goes to the Kingdom of Wakanda.
Here’s an idea for a Catwoman movie- Selina’s fresh from Blackgate and already planning a big job, but it’s one Gordon couldn’t really be angry at her for. Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, and Scarecrow are planning something big, so she plans to rob them blind and then bring Batman down on them... and as a personal challenge, she decides not to let Batman know what she’s doing. The movie would be an action/heist film with some comedic moments, usually from Selina’s wit or Joker being... Joker. I think with the right cast and writing, it could be great.
In regards to your Harley Quinn comment, I agree that they need to stop putting her In freaking jorts. Seriously, just give her the suit from Arkham City. It both looks like her classic outfit and looks suitable for combat.

The funniest thing in the world to me is that my brother used to watch Catwoman a lot in middle school just so he could ogle Halle Berry. At the time, he would get offended whenever I called the movie shit... now he just gets embarrassed and pissed off at me if I mention his Catwoman phase.
gotta agree on the "skimpier =/= better" thing. a good example in my mind is Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell, who spends alot of time with a jacket but without pants (at least in Stand Alone Complex) but that's not especially appealing to me, personally, and i think he looks much better in the tactical gear that she's also frequently shown in--pants, long-sleeved shirt, combat boots, gloves, flak jacket, etc.
Honestly I love this movie. Every single scene is absolutely hilarious. The scene where Patience jumps out of the window, does a 360 spin in mid air for no reason, lands in front of some guy's car ass-first, start seducing said car, and then when the very innocent man gets out to see if she's okay, she for some inexplicable reason says a one liner, kicks his ass, and then steals his car, is one of the most magical movie experiences I have ever had.

It's not just the height of the fall that makes it deadly, the landing can be the difference between survival or death. My parents had a friend that was a roofer that died from a two or three story fall because of how he hit the ground. So falls are not something to underestimate in their lethality.
Good lord, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one annoyed that Harley's been more Suicide Squad inspired than anything lately. Look, it's not *terrible* but I feel like it just doesn't work for her that much over some of the other stuff. Hell, the last of the Arknam games borrowed the hairdoo but the leather jacket and catsuit worked FAR better for example.

17:00 I always took both Selina and Patience’s transformations as a bit of an impulse control issue. Cats are generally known as the Not Giving A Damn species. You feed, water and toilet them and they will still ignore you, slice you open and be little shits regardless. They don’t blindly worship you like a dog. A saying I love is “When a dog loves you it means you have met that dog. When a cat loves you, it means it loves you.” A cat does what it wants, regardless of what you want it to do unless it truly loves you. They’re independent to an extreme. A human with cat personality traits is going to struggle massively with required impulse control. When a cat sees something it wants to move, it knocks it over. That’s all it cares about: what it wants. Humans have to constantly stop ourselves from doing what we want due to the social contract and punishments for breaking it. She is overtaken by the cat personality aspects she’s gained and acts like a cat with the brain of a human: I want it, mine now. It’s akin to certain types of being high, or perhaps being drunk. She’s not thinking about the consequences because she’s drunk on cat personality. When she comes down, she realizes that she did a thing she shouldn’t do, and tries to reverse it. It’s not a split personality so much as it is new catlike personality traits that were artificially inserted by cat magic not yet achieving homeostasis with her human personality.
24:44 It should break your suspension of disbelief, because the bars clearly aren't wide enough for her head to get through, which even cats need to pass through small spaces. As a human, she has the added difficulty of proportionately larger clavicles and wider hips so even if she was as flexible as a cat (and as loose-skinned, which I don't think fits the "sexy" image they're going for) she probably wouldn't be able to get through.

Vidocq is actually a watchable, albeit incoherent, film. I never realized it was by the same director. The closest comparison I can probably draw is the movie version of From Hell.

I found Catwoman in a clearance bin. The movie was about as bad as everyone says. The DVD had an hour long feature on the various women that have played Catwoman and was hosted by Eartha Kitt - that was actually great.

My problem is that we have already seen what Strathie talks about done rather well... in Batman Returns. But it was portrayed with taste and a certain amount of subtlety. However, that's not the only thing the Catwoman costume represented in that movie. It also mirrored the patchwork for the Frankenstein Monster and the more damaged it got, the more it reflected Selina's gradually deteriorating mental state. Then again, Batman Returns had good direction, good storytelling and good acting - none of which are anywhere to be seen in this sorry excuse for a movie.
I find it appropriate that you're reviewing the Catwoman comic adaptation this week, Linkara. The new John Wick movie is coming out this week, and Halle Berry has a role in it (Glad she's still getting work).
And yeah, this comic is a step up from the movie.

You know I actually read the comic of the Catwoman movie long before seeing the movie, and while I thought it was bad, I didn't think it was as terrible people said it was

The original 1995 script had a character called "Captain God" in it and I recommend everyone read it. I don't know if it would have been a good movie but it certainly had more interesting ideas than The Mask vs The Wasp Woman.

You know, Linkara, while I do like you because you’re really awesome, this review kinda made me realize there’s a bit more of a connection here than with other guys I watch.
See, you have a tendency to really dig into the themes and such of your review material, deeply analyze why things do or don’t work, and pull out elements that others might not pick up on (for example, the dual personality stuff here that might have been interesting if this was its own thing). As a reviewer myself (blogger on Equestria Amino), I’ve found I’m exactly the same way.

I remember actually excited for this film when I was much, much younger, since I thought Catwoman herself looked pretty cool and the ads made the film look vaguely Spider-Man esque. Plus, I'm a sucker for gentlemen thieves/cops & robbers, Jekyll-Hyde dynamics and Catwoman/Spider-Man-esque acrobats. Real shame that turned out the way that did.
For those that think the Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman movies suck, watch this movie and get back to me. At least those actually look competently shot.

In this move Bast's blessings allow psychologically damaged women to dress up in silly outfits. Point goes to the Kingdom of Wakanda.

Here’s an idea for a Catwoman movie- Selina’s fresh from Blackgate and already planning a big job, but it’s one Gordon couldn’t really be angry at her for. Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, and Scarecrow are planning something big, so she plans to rob them blind and then bring Batman down on them... and as a personal challenge, she decides not to let Batman know what she’s doing. The movie would be an action/heist film with some comedic moments, usually from Selina’s wit or Joker being... Joker. I think with the right cast and writing, it could be great.

The funniest thing in the world to me is that my brother used to watch Catwoman a lot in middle school just so he could ogle Halle Berry. At the time, he would get offended whenever I called the movie shit... now he just gets embarrassed and pissed off at me if I mention his Catwoman phase.

gotta agree on the "skimpier =/= better" thing. a good example in my mind is Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell, who spends alot of time with a jacket but without pants (at least in Stand Alone Complex) but that's not especially appealing to me, personally, and i think he looks much better in the tactical gear that she's also frequently shown in--pants, long-sleeved shirt, combat boots, gloves, flak jacket, etc.
Honestly I love this movie. Every single scene is absolutely hilarious. The scene where Patience jumps out of the window, does a 360 spin in mid air for no reason, lands in front of some guy's car ass-first, start seducing said car, and then when the very innocent man gets out to see if she's okay, she for some inexplicable reason says a one liner, kicks his ass, and then steals his car, is one of the most magical movie experiences I have ever had.

It's not just the height of the fall that makes it deadly, the landing can be the difference between survival or death. My parents had a friend that was a roofer that died from a two or three story fall because of how he hit the ground. So falls are not something to underestimate in their lethality.

Good lord, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one annoyed that Harley's been more Suicide Squad inspired than anything lately. Look, it's not *terrible* but I feel like it just doesn't work for her that much over some of the other stuff. Hell, the last of the Arknam games borrowed the hairdoo but the leather jacket and catsuit worked FAR better for example.

17:00 I always took both Selina and Patience’s transformations as a bit of an impulse control issue. Cats are generally known as the Not Giving A Damn species. You feed, water and toilet them and they will still ignore you, slice you open and be little shits regardless. They don’t blindly worship you like a dog. A saying I love is “When a dog loves you it means you have met that dog. When a cat loves you, it means it loves you.” A cat does what it wants, regardless of what you want it to do unless it truly loves you. They’re independent to an extreme.
A human with cat personality traits is going to struggle massively with required impulse control. When a cat sees something it wants to move, it knocks it over. That’s all it cares about: what it wants. Humans have to constantly stop ourselves from doing what we want due to the social contract and punishments for breaking it. She is overtaken by the cat personality aspects she’s gained and acts like a cat with the brain of a human: I want it, mine now. It’s akin to certain types of being high, or perhaps being drunk. She’s not thinking about the consequences because she’s drunk on cat personality. When she comes down, she realizes that she did a thing she shouldn’t do, and tries to reverse it. It’s not a split personality so much as it is new catlike personality traits that were artificially inserted by cat magic not yet achieving homeostasis with her human personality.
So, all Egyptian gods have both male and female versions of gods. In the case of Bast, there's Bastet (who came first.)

As a human, she has the added difficulty of proportionately larger clavicles and wider hips so even if she was as flexible as a cat (and as loose-skinned, which I don't think fits the "sexy" image they're going for) she probably wouldn't be able to get through.

You'll have to be more specific - if you mean Lambert Wilson, it's not directed at the actor. He's quite talented at playing asshole characters... the problem is the characters are, well, assholes and DESIGNED to be assholes and unliked. XD
Vidocq is actually a watchable, albeit incoherent, film. I never realized it was by the same director. The closest comparison I can probably draw is the movie version of From Hell.
As a Catwoman fan I was actually looking forward to a movie adaptation... until I saw the trailer. One of the few movies I ever walked out on.
The only reason I went to see it was because my uncle/landlord let a homeless friend stay upstairs and I could hear him tap his foot, stop, giggle, then start tapping his foot again. And I was like, "...fuck it I'll give Catwoman a chance."
