Of course what I'm saying might be hyperbole so I encourage anyone with more comic knowledge who reads this to challenge what I said or to discuss it further if you agree.
Another thing referenced in 90s spidey. Peter comes looking for help with the man-spider thing(growing arms and attacking people) The X-men attack him, tell him stopping mutations is wrong, Beast goes around the others to help, but gets captured. And of course Logan blames Peter.
Marvel really has a tendency for comparing Magneto to Hitler, probably because he IS a holocaust survivor, ergo that would really hit home for him. It makes sense, because how can Magneto justify his own terrorist attacks and prejudice towards homo sapiens when HE HIMSELF is a victim of prejudice and oppression of the highest caliber. Does he not see even the slightest hint of hypocrisy in his actions?
I think that’s supposed to be the tragedy of Magneto. He survived one of the most horrific events in human history, and it scarred him. He’s so afraid of a mutant Holocaust that he’s unknowingly willing to become a monster to stop it.
I get where they’re going, but the problem with that is that Hitler only cared about himself and the mission. Magneto at least cares about mutants. It’s why he kept offering Charles the chance to join him. So the comparison is tends to be iffy.
If you are a villain (who just forced himself on her) yourself you don’t get privilege of not being compared to Hitler just because he is a Holocaust survivor. More like it makes it a better insult.
"Janet, he's a Holocaust survivor, go to Hell." Well, for what it's worth, all anyone knows about Magneto at that point is that he's an ultra-powerful magnetism-manipulator with a grudge, who wants his superpowered ilk to lord over much weaker normal humans who need geniuses and high-technology just to stand any chance of survival.
I'd honestly say the Inhumans probably fit that mold more since they actively practice eugenics and have a race of beings who do all the heavy lifting and are, more or less, a race of beings created to be slaves.
No people knew who magneto was back then a holocaust survivor that's a huge part of his character. But still being a holocaust survivor does not make him immune from that kind of criticism if anything it would make him more vulnerable to it because he should know better then to become the very thing that took his family from him.
I loved your reaction to the Wasp's little Godwin moment with Magneto, because Marvel keeps on DOING this. During the events of (I think) AXIS, Magneto, the Scarlet Witch and Rogue are kidnapped by the Red Skull, stuck in a concentration camp and brutally tortured. Upon breaking free, Magneto beats the Red Skull to a pulp and kills him. The Scarlet Witch's response? "You're no different than he is."... Seriously? I get that Magneto is not a good guy and was a sucky (not) father, but come off your damn high horse Wanda. That was just ... really uncomfortable of Marvel.
Well, in context, Skull had Xavier's brain in him and the X-Men wanted to save their friend and mentor's brain rather than destroy it. I don't think that got across at all honestly.
Fair enough, but that just raises the question of why. Was it to piss people off? Was it intended to happen but people got so pissed off they decided to change it? Or did they just think it would be cool even though it is not what's happening and just pissed people off?
Considering there's a movie called 'They Saved Hitler's Brain' that'd make the Nazi comparison work more on the X-Men's side. But really, the scene made it look like they were objecting more to Magneto killing the Red Skull than due to being concerned over Xavier's brain. And the Red Skull is, ya know, a Nazi and Magneto a Jewish or Romany Holocaust survivor. Even if you left that out of the equation, the Red Skull had been torturing Magneto not five minutes before. Killing the Red Skull upon breaking free might not be the most moral thing ever, but in no way, shape or form does that make the two equal. Not even close. That scene really annoyed the crud outta me.
tyrongkojy He needs both thermal and organic energy. He tried eating planets that had life, just not intelligent, but eventually lost his patience and he argues that he'll give back to the galaxy, more than he ever took from it.
Kevin Corey Unbeatable Squirrel Girl posits that Galactus attacking Earth is his equivalent of ordering takeout, since the heroes will try to find another planet for him to find that he can eat.
There's also the fact that, if he DOESN'T feed and starves to death, a much much MUCH worse being called Abraxas will be unleashed and nullify the entire universe.
He can only eat certain kinds of planets, ones that have the potential for life. While he feeds on uninhabited planets whenever he can, he doesn't always have a choice. He absolutely has to eat about once per month or he'll die.
Well, actually Rogue beat the living tar out of the Avengers when she first showed up, so I'm sure that had something to do with them not trusting her.
Galactus being on the villain team bugs me. The dude *isn't* a villain to me and a lot of other people; he's a natural force. I mean, sure, he ignores the suffering of those whose planets he destroys, but it's something he *has* to do. The Silver Surfer was concerned for the well-being of people, but that led to him making Galactus wait too long between planets. To me, evil requires malevolent intent. Galactus being there is just... off to me.
You're correct. But for mortal beings, it's difficult to comprehend the "bigger picture." Galactus is a necessity to the universe, and is fated to give back all that he's taken. But for normal people, only the here and now matters. It's a difference in scale.
True, but I see it in the grander scope of things. These people *will* die and he *will* have to eat their planets eventually, and finding uninhabited planets all the time means there's too long a time between meals. When it comes to Galactus, I see him as operating on a moral level beyond everybody else. He sees us like how we see ants, and he's part of the bigger workings of the universe. But hey, different views of morality and whatnot.
Oh yeah, Chuck..you're such a nice guy. Hey, what happened to the team you sent to rescue the original X-Men team on Krakoa? No, not the one from Giant-Sized X-Men..that's the second team. The first team? Some of the members KIA and one MIA...oh and you mindwiped Cyclops and altered his memory. Yeah, Chuck...such a nice guy. No wonder Scott snapped your neck. God knows how many times you had fucked with the X-Men's memories.
Well in Chucks defence, this was written back in the 80's when Charles really was, more or less, a good, stand up guy. Before they retconned him to make him darker and edgier and jerkisher and perving on Jean and... *Fuck you, Joe Quesada! You go to hell! You go to hell, and you die!* Um... ahem... sorry about that, got a little carried away there.
As an X-Men fan, I feel confident in saying...never mentioned again. That's not to say that Xavier and using his powers irresponsibly aren't the opus of tons of stories, but rather to say that he never again mentions that time he wronged Spider-Man.
It's interesting seeing the color dichotomy between hero and villains. Heros seem to be some combination of red, blue and yellow usually while villains seem to mostly be green and purple. Just having them all grouped together like that really made me realize
True, but "The Death of Captain Marvel" is apparently one of the better times death has been handled in comics. The captain died surrounded by his friends and after fighting (and winning) a final duel against *Thanos* on the border between life and death! Also, besides a couple brief ressurections, the dude has *stayed dead.* Thus allowing other characters, like Monica Rambeau and Carol Danvers, to take on the mantle.
So from the novelization of Secret Wars that I read I remember the Beyonder was basically granting their greatest wishes during the fight for a limited time. Like Xavier can walk and eventually Thing became unrocky
There's no contest in recent years: the Dark Cybertron event was one of the best tie-in comics to the toyline we've seen in awhile. As it turned out Shockwave had his own plans, to cover Cybertron in darkness and enlists the aid of the Ammonites to carry out this task. At the end of the storyline, something happened: Megatron has been redeemed, a rare feat in the mythos.
GaiaX5 and amazingly idw has kept megatron being redeemed til even today. And as someone who loved the More than meets the eye comic series I’m happy for it. He was one the best characters in that series because he was trying to genuinely become a better person (robot? Cybertronian?) while still not being afraid to be an asshole who commanded respect.
19:34 my favorite part of this story, Spider-man taking out the entire X-men without breaking a sweat. Like a boss. It shows how smart he is too, taking out the psyhic first and then using his tricks and skills to beat everyone else. This is why Spider-man is awesome.
Wasp: "You're the greatest evil since Hitler!" Fitting a selfish brat like Janet would say that because according to the awesome _Deadpool's Secret War_, she also started a relationship with a healed Wade Wilson during this time but not only broke up with him once his scarring came back but wiped away everyone's memories so no one would know she was intimate with such an ugly man. Poor Wade, he's a real hero.
Fuzzy Barbarian Not really a bad choice Magneto has always had a similar way of thinking as Hitler. In fact it is actually one of the most interesting parts of his character.

The Secret Wars action figures were the 1st Marvel action figures ever being sold in Portugal (thanks Mattel) and even introduced some characters and concepts before the comics here, like Hobgoblin and black uniform Spidey (the toys were being sold several years before the tie-in comic) It was weird to have a capeless Dr. Doom figure, though. Classic Magneto was always more of an anti-villain than traditional villain. At the end of the 1st time the X-men faced the Brood, Prof. X is infected by their queen and returns to Earth, where thinking that the X-men were dead, recruit a new class of mutants, The New Mutants. The X-men having survived the Brood return to earth in time to save the New Mutants from being killed by a Brood creature that used to be Prof. X armed with his telepathy. But a residue of Prof X's mind survived and was transplanted to a clone body created by the Shi'ar. A new body cured of his paralysis. Not elastic, Linkara. Made from unstable molecules. You should know this by now, mate. X-men fan here and Kitty Pryde was right: Prof. X is a jerk! But the Dr. Doom vs Beyonder fight is still great nowadays!
I'm mostly a fan of early 1960s Marvel, but Secret Wars was my favourite comic book growing up. Not just because it's a story with the heroes fighting villains (and not themselves!) but like all great Marvel, it's a story about the characters before the costumes, and it has probably the greatest portrayal of Doctor Doom ever!! You feel for all the characters, the action never overstays it's welcome, and even though it was supposed to just be a commercial for toys, the writer Jim Shooter did his dam best on this! If the fourth Avengers movie is revealed to be "Avengers: Secret Wars" I will be so thrilled!
AG Films that would be cool but probably it would be Avengers 5, though. MCU fans knew the fourth Avengers movie was going to be a direct sequel to Infinity War months before we knew it’s going to be called Avengers Endgame
a few weeks ago while I was at my dads and learned that he used to collect comics. I asked him if he had any kind of comics at the house. he did but it was only half of his collection. he put his comics in a green tub and it was a pain to get it up the stairs and into my room. after taking a small break I finally got to see what was in it. in it was some of his army stuff (just some papers) a bible, an art folder, and the comics. the comics that he had was all of the death to reborn to revenge of superman, Frank Miller's The dark knight strikes back, Doom 2099 #5, and a whole lot more. when I looked at his art folder I saw a few interesting art. what caught my eye in it was a man holding the superman symbol as a shield. he explained that it was a big crossover event of both Marvel and DC to the point of having characters fuse. It would be interesting if you reviewed that comic crossover series
I can imagine this being a premise for a Super Smash Bros. game with The Beyonder being Master Hand (Update: To be fair, he shares the same voice actor with the announcer and Crazy Hand across the franchise so it would fit perfectly).
Janet, there's a list of things that you can't do...not things you shouldn't do, *can't*. 'Calling a Holocaust survivor 'Hitler'' isn't on the list because WE DIDN'T THINK PEOPLE NEEDED TO BE TOLD THAT!!!
20:26-Magneto, Master of Magnetism and the guy who always goes out with women who are already in a committed relationship, some of them being married. 20:39-Well Magneto’s relationship with Rogue was a lot more creepy, which was a thing that was adapted in X-Men 97.
Luke Groundflyer it does however make it so that comparing him to hitler specifically wrong pick any other genocidal maniac and you would have no problem it’s that the chose butler specifiacally
It’s kind of the tragedy of Magneto. He’s so terrified of a mutant Holocaust that he ended up no different from the monsters that locked him in the concentration camps in the first place.
Galactus as a bad guy always struck me as strange. I mean, he consumes planets and thus murders everyone living there, but they’re so beneath him in both size and technology that it’d be like us being overly concerned with the well-being of ants. Only this time destroying the hive actually keeps him alive vs. doing it just for cosmetics.
Noble, Magneto? Ha! Magneto is as noble as Hitler. He constantly causes mass murder and promotes a "master race" many of whom he also kills when they don't do what he wants. The only reason he says he wants to act like his actions are that of "defender of mutants" is just so he can justify his actions while getting others to do his bidding. "Racism" is just his weapon of choice in conquering the world. And you have said that Magneto and Ransik from Time Force aren't the same character, but I personally see them as virtually the same character.
But isn't that the tragedy of Magneto that he is every bit the monster that the Nazis where but he's just deluding himself into thinking he's better and different
Partly. It depends on who's writing. Sometimes he wants to enact revenge on humanity, other times he just very aggressively wants to protect mutants. Other superhumans are rarely discriminated upon the way mutants are, and Magneto doesn't ever want to be victimized that way again. It's rarely a black and white situation with him, which is part of what makes him interesting.

@@AT4W It’s weird, since every other media that has depicted Ultron has given him a far deeper voice, not just the movie. It varies, but it’s always deeper than the Starscream idea.
15:43 I'm assuming someone has already answered this but just in case; The reason why Xavier was able to walk was because of the aftermath of the brood saga. In the end of that arc he was turned into a brood queen but his mind was so powerfull that he was able to fight the transformation long enough for the Starjammers to clone his body and swap his mind there. Since this was a new body the injuries that made him unable to walk weren't present. At first though, since he was crippled for so long, he still struggle with walking a bit, his mind wasn't accepting the fact that his body could walk again, so he spend the next few issues overcoming that. But by the time Secret Wars started Charles was already able to walk normally. The reason they gave as to why he appeared on a chair in at the beggining of the books is the same one they gave for why so many of this heroes appeared in costume when they weren't in costume when they got teleported which is because the Beyonder apparently did it so they looked just as he wanted them to look like (as he remembered them).
Those were the days, when Marvel's "Event Comics" actually meant something. Now we have one every year and to be honest - it's really tiring. Nothing feels special anymore. And the newer events (2000s onward) don't really tie in very good with the "non-event" issues.
Okay.. so I have 3 questions about this comic's weirdness 1. Does Magneto refer to himself in third person only in this event? Or is he this weird all through out that era? 2. Is Wasp marry to Antman during this event? Because if so, those scene with Magneto is creepy in whole new level 3. Does Molecule man appear/reboot in later Marvel comic? Dude is so fricking awesome!!!
15:12 I remember seeing these two panels in a fourth or fifth grade's school book on literature where it was stated that superhero comics are not art and these specific panels were used as the example image. Finally got that mystery solved.
This reminds me of an old Star Trek episode where Kirk, Spock, Abraham Lincoln, and a Vulcan ghandi are transported to a planet to fight history’s biggest villains.
Regarding the Professor X wiping Spider-Man thing. Honestly this is pretty par for the course behavior for Chuck. He does generally feel bad about wiping minds to cover the X-Men’s tracts, but he does this all the time. He and the other telepaths routinely make people cognitively ignore them. And Xavier has done much, much worse. A quick highlight real: Brainwashing Magneto to be less of a dick after Eric went off the deep end and ripped the adamantum out of Wolverine Making everyone forget about the lost X team Killing the Shadow King on the astral plane (it was in self defense and the Shadow King’s astral self survived) And finally: Gaslighting everyone multiple times when a character or Xavier himself faked their death and Chuck convinced them they were definitely dead. So no, Chuck does not actually care that much that he messed with Peter’s mind.
With that “universe ballet practice” joke, I wonder why no comic universes have made their universe embodiments a ballerina, given how companies always describe it as graceful. That would be kinda cute actually...

I'm really loving event comics month so far. it's a great birthday gift to me and I love learning about marketing and the history of comics. I never got a chance to read these so it's neat to know about it :D
Gotta personally disagree with you there, Guy R. Not to say that I don't love James Spader, but my iconic idea of an Ultron voice is Tom Kane for its sheer cold logic. And not sounding like a freakin' crybaby like Jim Meskimen.
To answer your question about Prof X bringing up mind wiping spidey the answer is a firm "kind of." There's a period where he has to slowly rebuild his mind and his memories and he goes over all the times he has mind wiped people or messed with their heads for what he decided were high stakes and has to grapple with whether or not he can actually be considered a good guy. I think they might bring this up super briefly but I'm not sure.
I'm rewatching this since the next Event Comics Month (For those seeing this in the future. I'm referring to Event Comics Month V: Secret Crusade of the Dark Convergence) will feature Secret Wars II.
A powerful being pitting a group of heroes against a group of villains to determine if Good or Evil is stronger…are we sure the Beyonder isn’t just a fan of Star Trek TOS? 😜
I like the original comic version of Ultron more than the movie version. When a robot villain uses logic to justify his villainous motives and shows pretty much no emotion, you have yourself a deadly villain. Either that or I'm actually talking about the Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I miss that show.
Marvel or DC should hire you to write for them. You actually care about the characters. I appreciate your channel and await the day that you do a run on Geoff Johns Teen Titans :)

No people knew who magneto was back then a holocaust survivor that's a huge part of his character. But still being a holocaust survivor does not make him immune from that kind of criticism if anything it would make him more vulnerable to it because he should know better then to become the very thing that took his family from him.
Unless we're talking about his version from the Ultimate Universe.
And let's not forget the recent image of Hydra aligned Magneto. I just... Why are you doing this Marvel?
Studmanafier Magneto isn't in Hydra. Never was. It was a variant cover.
Doomkara was a surprise, but a welcome one.
"I can drive stick!
I AM DOOM"
Two years later and Doomkara still brings me unending joy
About Galactus, plus it's not like he stops you from evacuating. Hell, he first sends his herald to WARN you.
tyrongkojy He needs both thermal and organic energy.
There's also the fact that, if he DOESN'T feed and starves to death, a much much MUCH worse being called Abraxas will be unleashed and nullify the entire universe.
tyrongkojy why does he eat planets that will fight back, like earth? Why not an uninhabited planet?
He can only eat certain kinds of planets, ones that have the potential for life. While he feeds on uninhabited planets whenever he can, he doesn't always have a choice. He absolutely has to eat about once per month or he'll die.
Well, actually Rogue beat the living tar out of the Avengers when she first showed up, so I'm sure that had something to do with them not trusting her.
You've waited for months to put on that Dr. Doom costume have you?
“Now behold my persons crouch”
Gets me every time 😂
Galactus being on the villain team bugs me. Galactus being there is just... off to me.
Perhaps the team he was on was just a means to an end.
Fuzzy Barbarian the Beyonder doesn't know much about good, evil, and motivations yet, does he? It could just be a mistake
Fuzzy Barbarian If I understand correctly, Galactus literally signed up for the food, and the Beyonder assigned him to Team Villains.
God knows how many times you had fucked with the X-Men's memories.
i agree man. charles xaviar is kinda fucked up
The one MIA was Darwin or Scott's brother?
Why did anyone stand by this guy for so long?
I'm thinking Scott's brother.
Well in Chucks defence, this was written back in the 80's when Charles really was, more or less, a good, stand up guy. Before they retconned him to make him darker and edgier and jerkisher and perving on Jean and... *Fuck you, Joe Quesada! You go to hell! You go to hell, and you die!*
Um... ahem... sorry about that, got a little carried away there.
DOOMKARA IS AMAZING. WE NEED MORE OF THAT IN THE SHOW.
Linkara: The noblest of all purposes
Me: Revenge?
Linkara: Money!
Me: That works too.
As an X-Men fan, I feel confident in saying...never mentioned again. That's not to say that Xavier and using his powers irresponsibly aren't the opus of tons of stories, but rather to say that he never again mentions that time he wronged Spider-Man.
Will you please tell me where the Mansion is located?
"Except Wolverine cause he feels like being a prick". So it's a year with a number in it.
It's interesting seeing the color dichotomy between hero and villains. Heros seem to be some combination of red, blue and yellow usually while villains seem to mostly be green and purple. Just having them all grouped together like that really made me realize
"Now behold my person's crotch" LOL
Pharaoh: "I am beholding."
"This is the second Captain Marvel! After the first one died of cancer!" Jeesus...I come to comics to get away from this kind of horrible stuff...
The hulk holding up a mountain cover is one of my all time favorite covers
Martialartfruituser Awesome as a fighter, yes. Awesome as a friend, nephew or husband? It depends.
@@juhaniaho6698
Yeah, it depends on the universe. That being said, Insomniac's Spider-Man seems good at balancing it all.
@@juhaniaho6698 True. Marvel is incapable of having Peter Parker be a responsible human being.
this is just what i needed today because do to personal reasons i needed something to cheer me up so thank you linkara :)
Ultron is Starscream?!
Yeah, I can get behind that.
My god.......why hasnt their been a cross over with marvel and transformer that feature the major villain of ultron and starscream......
Ah! I see Magneto went to Darkside’s school of sitting on comfy couches.
Best Doom cosplay I've seen in years
Wasp: "You're the greatest evil since Hitler!"
Fitting a selfish brat like Janet would say that because according to the awesome _Deadpool's Secret War_, she also started a relationship with a healed Wade Wilson during this time but not only broke up with him once his scarring came back but wiped away everyone's memories so no one would know she was intimate with such an ugly man. Poor Wade, he's a real hero.
That was a retcon put in years later.
"Apologize for the inconvenience." A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy reference?
I'm glad you noted the Wasp's really, really, really bad choice of insults, Linkara. I mean... seriously.
Fuzzy Barbarian
Not really a bad choice Magneto has always had a similar way of thinking as Hitler.
In fact it is actually one of the most interesting parts of his character.
Been a fan for years, but fell off the wagon after Missing Number. Don't know why, just ended up on other parts of the web. Then TH-cam went and reminded me of AT4W with a 'suggested for you'. And now I begin the long treck of getting caught up. Missed ya Lewis, glad to see you're still going strong!
Thanks! Hope you enjoy the journey catching up! ^_^
Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall Please review the Colonel Sanders dc comics book
When Spiderman throws his secret shield, all those who chose to oppose his shield must wonder why Spiderman has a shield.
That open legit gave me chills
Heh. Good to see this comment has aged well
a few weeks ago while I was at my dads and learned that he used to collect comics.
13:10 You say that but Young Justice proved how potent a bunch of heros sharing a telepathic link can be In the middle of combat
20:26-Magneto, Master of Magnetism and the guy who always goes out with women who are already in a committed relationship, some of them being married.
20:39-Well Magneto’s relationship with Rogue was a lot more creepy, which was a thing that was adapted in X-Men 97.
just because he's a holocaust survivor doesn't mean he's not a genocidal maniac. if anything that just makes him worse
Luke Groundflyer it does however make it so that comparing him to hitler specifically wrong pick any other genocidal maniac and you would have no problem it’s that the chose butler specifiacally
@@ultimatedarkrai255 why?
At this point in time he actually wasn't. He was mostly antagonist than a villain.
Yes but he is more a victim of circumstances
For some reason, I keep reading Wolverine's lines as the Australian "Pryde of the X-men" version...
Denver Colorado? That's my birthplace!!! It's beautiful,
Turns out, a short-lived company called M.F. Enterprises ALSO had a character named Captain Marvel. There's just so many of them...

Somehow this is the first time I have the exact book you're holding for the review. It feels cool
6:38 By Fafnir's teeth? (Insert Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid reference)
Fafnir cares not for your silly human references. he is too busy grinding the latest MMO event and writing bad doujin comics that dont sell, about how he cares not for silly humans.
Ferhog don't lewd the dragon loli
I wouldn't dare.
Watching this in 2022 I had a brain fart for a moment. I couldn't figure out why you had to explain who Monica Rambeau is and only use comics examples when she was a major character in WandaVision. Then I remembered I am watching this video 5 years after you made it!
1:07: I had that Doctor Doom figure as a kid. No, I didn't know about Doom's backstory and all that; I just thought he looked cool.
I love how you gave Ultron a voice like Starscream’s, it’s hilarious!
It's just how I always thought of his voice ever since I first read Secret Wars. XD
@@AT4W It’s weird, since every other media that has depicted Ultron has given him a far deeper voice, not just the movie. It varies, but it’s always deeper than the Starscream idea.
Part of me loves the idea of a villain getting therapy.
Mike Zeck, who had done work for Charlton, used to go to the comic shop a mile or two down the road and sign copies of comics that he had drawn.
Coming back here to watch your Secret Wars videos after watching the Secret Wars II video.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah, and then the clusterfook that was the Beyonder in said video
I love your Doom, bring him more often plz
Those were the days, when Marvel's "Event Comics" actually meant something. Now we have one every year and to be honest - it's really tiring. Nothing feels special anymore. And the newer events (2000s onward) don't really tie in very good with the "non-event" issues.
"every year"? its every three months!
If they keep making money, they keep making them.
Okay.. so I have 3 questions about this comic's weirdness
1. Does Magneto refer to himself in third person only in this event? Or is he this weird all through out that era?
2. Is Wasp marry to Antman during this event? Because if so, those scene with Magneto is creepy in whole new level
Doom does not need friends! Doom needs none but his pet cat!
sad thing is Linkaras doom mask is still better then all three of the fantastic 4 films.
Arm514ve I can't tell if you mean it's a better mask than they used or if it's better than the movies itself... either way yeah
but not as good as Assist Me's Doom
The first Fantastic Four film (1990) had quite a decent Doom costume in hindsight.
A quick highlight real:
Brainwashing Magneto to be less of a dick after Eric went off the deep end and ripped the adamantum out of Wolverine
Making everyone forget about the lost X team
Killing the Shadow King on the astral plane (it was in self defense and the Shadow King’s astral self survived)
And finally:
Gaslighting everyone multiple times when a character or Xavier himself faked their death and Chuck convinced them they were definitely dead.
So no, Chuck does not actually care that much that he messed with Peter’s mind.
With that “universe ballet practice” joke, I wonder why no comic universes have made their universe embodiments a ballerina, given how companies always describe it as graceful.
That would be kinda cute actually...
Hulk's car insurance likely wouldn't have been cancelled if he had just saved 15% by calling Geico.
I swear to god the high pitched voice you gave Ultron made me pause the video and laugh for 5 minutes
That Doom costume is awesome
2:46 Is that an Obelisk Blue Uniform from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX I see????
Green and purple is a traditional villain colour scheme in comics.
this was always my favorite episode of the spiderman show
Quote highlights:
"In the Distant Reaches of the Universe, Far, Far from Planet Earth, an uninhabited Spiral Galaxy turns its everlasting pirouette in magnificent splendor, unseen by living eyes"
Doom: "Interesting...A gathering of Forces...as if for War!"
Thor: "Swept Away...Like dust before some unseen giant hand!"
Ultron: "I am Ultron! My purpose is to Slay that which Lives! You are all Living things! Ergo...ULTRON MUST DESTROY YOU!"
Beyonder: "I am from Beyond! Slay your enemies and all you desire shall be yours! Nothing you dream of is Impossible for me to Accomplish!"
Cap America: "What about you Professor? You can read minds. That could come in handy"
Doom: "The operation of this alien vessel is Child's Play to one of My Intellect!"
Also Doom: "Is that Pity I see in your eyes Captain America?! And yours Richards?! PITY YOURSELVES!!!"
She-Hulk: "Oh Wow! That was, Like, Tubular, Y'know, To the MAX!"
Doom: "Molecule Man...Uh Mr Reece I believe it is?... I trust you were not Inconvenienced?"
Magneto: "NONE MAY TOUCH THE PERSON OF MAGNETO!!!"
Also Magneto: "Ah, Good Evening, Miss Van Dyne...Or do you prefer to be called Wasp? Do not bother trying to attack me my dear. My person is magnetically shielded."
Magneto again: "You are obviously a woman of intelligence and understanding, as well as great beauty~"
Xavier: "As much as I despise using my Psionic Abilities to forcibly reorder another's mind, there is too much at stake to falter now!"
Doom: "So be it! Know you then that your choice is irrevocable!...And you will live to regret it!"
Wasp: "And I wish this place had Plumbing! What sort of beings would build a place with No...No powder rooms?!"
Also Wasp: "And now that I KNOW you really, Really ARE the most Evil Scum since Hitler, I'M GOING TO STOP YOU!!!"
Xavier: "A few hours ago I succumbed to Temptation and Psyonically prevented Spiderman from delaying our Journey here! THAT WAS A CRIME! An act I shall long regret...In that moment of Weakness, I was no better than Doom...Or Hitler...Or anyone else who ever used power to usurp another's Freedom...If we are to be allies Magneto, We must first agree that whatever Noble Ends we seek, DO NOT justify Evil Means!"
I'm really loving event comics month so far. it's a great birthday gift to me and I love learning about marketing and the history of comics. I never got a chance to read these so it's neat to know about it :D
...What...WAS that Ultron voice supposed to be?
Tuvya Maeir Starscream from the original Transformers cartoon on helium.
It's so weird when Ultron doesn't sound like James Spader...
Gotta personally disagree with you there, Guy R. Not to say that I don't love James Spader, but my iconic idea of an Ultron voice is Tom Kane for its sheer cold logic. And not sounding like a freakin' crybaby like Jim Meskimen.
Tuvya Maeir I always imagined Ultron as sounding like a mix between Tom Kenny and Crispin Freeman.
80’s starscream
Galactus was promised Twinkies and Beyonder has yet to give him the Galaxy's worth he owes him
Oh god! I still have to finish reading this! I'll watch this later tonight! (Throws self at Secret Wars book)
I gave up, I just want to read Wonder Woman: the Circle.
12:13 Fun Fact: That chance encounter was the event that gave Molecule Man his powers.
I love Secret Wars too. Best Marvel event of all time.
My introduction into the bigger Marvel Universe was through a video game.
which one ?
Ditto
The original Ultimate Alliance was awesome
Anyone else here a time traveler watching this in anticipation of the Secret Wars movie?
I'm rewatching this since the next Event Comics Month (For those seeing this in the future. I'm referring to Event Comics Month V: Secret Crusade of the Dark Convergence) will feature Secret Wars II.
A powerful being pitting a group of heroes against a group of villains to determine if Good or Evil is stronger…are we sure the Beyonder isn’t just a fan of Star Trek TOS?
😜
Event Comic Month is going to be AWESOME! :D
I love how classic Galactus was basically like the giant crystal entity from Star Trek TNG
Great review. I love reading about Marvel's older comics. There are alot of great ones and also I love crossovers that are actually good.
Oh my goodness, Lewis, I love that cardboard and duct tape mask for that gag.
