the funny thing is i kno all the black hat cadets in the center, facing the group:
to the rear: C/Lt Col Zachary King, NCAC chair NJWG
to the left: C/1st Lt Michael Quinn, NER 08-09 Cadet Competition Team Deputy Commander NJWG
in the front: C/Col Stasia Rogacki, NER CAC rep, former cadet commander Lone Eagle Composite Squadron, current member of Curtiss-Wright Composite Squadron NJWG
not sure who the person on the right is

see, this is the kind of stuff (and other things like PJOC, NBB, and SUPT-FC) they need to show kids to get them join the cadet program, not try to lure them in with the promise of learning to fly, learning how to do STEM, and other BS. You have to capture kids imagination when you want them to do something, and when you think of kids, they're usually out playing "soldier" or something not looking into the intracacies of glider flight, how robots work, and other crap.

Agreed. The cadet program can attract young people for a variety of reasons. It's up to leadership to get an idea of what motivates each cadet and present them with what appeals to them most. A new cadet is at an age where they've trying to explore and learn who they are.

Interesting. I don't remember this being a thing when I was a cadet in the early 80's. Maybe it was and I never heard about it. I wonder how many of these kids are going to be or could be Old Guard in the future. I saw at least one potential.

I was a CAP cadet from 1988-1993, New Mexico Wing. We didn't have any cadet activities called 'National CAP Honor Guard Academy'. This one looks like it would've been fun. In fact, our first-ever Wing Color Guard Competition was held in March,1991. And our squadron was the only that fielded an armed color guard, and we were told that armed color guards were not authorized by the Wing Commander, which sucked because we had beautiful M1903's on loan from Kirtland Air Force Base Honor Guard.

You probably know by now but... You will need to have your own full Service Dress Uniform, but no Color Guard experience is necessary.

I know a guy from our squadron that is going in 2012, so if any of the people who see this comment get in a flight Morgan Joslin, I KNOW HIM, just as a hint, he likes bacon.
