Jay ste's hint about getting the 2032 battery out is appreciated and the video was great (other than not actually removing the battery at the end). That battery removal and indeed the entire procedure for replacing a 2032 battery is a lot more complicated than any of the myriad of things I own that use these 2032 batteries. Why the engineers at Mazda didn't make the battery accessible after removing the first plastic door is mind boggling. On second thought ...
I cannot thank you enough for this! Great detail and video to help the not so key fob savvy user lol! Now onto changing the battery in my spare key like a boss thanks to you!
Thank you so much. I was annoyed that the battery was low after not even a month with our cx9 2023. Will I have to replace the battery on a monthly basis?!
TY, I just had to replace both fob batteries for a 2020 CX 9. I have a 2013 Lexus and have not replaced the fob batteries. I wonder if the Mazda fobs are constantly sending out a signal. I normally use the buttons on the car for door openings so the fobs should have charged batteries.
Thank you Danny! N.B. my key fob for a 2020 CX-9 requires a Cr2032 battery. I assumed the batteries would be the same from 2020 to 2021. Not so! According to the manual Pg 6-34 there are 2 possible keys - Type A and Type B requiring different model # batteries. I simply ordered the battery I saw in the video #2025 - not the model that I removed from my fob - didn't notice the difference. Died a week later. Hopefully others will not share my fate. And thanks to Mazda for, yet again, making a seemingly simple thing complicated.
You cant just pop the battery out..at the end...the latch door thats on top of the battery..u pop it off..(from the sides)..its easier..then you use the top of that latch door..to pry the battery out..there is a slot in the bottom rt corner..where the battery sits...the north side of that latch door has a curved piece thats fits in that corner slot perfectly...that would be the final step..before replacing the battery..and putting the key fob back together.. (i did it all with the key and my fingers..no fingernails) ...thanks for the video 👍🏾
@@DannyDrives it was detailed..u just left out the last part of how to remove the battery...i thanked you because..i wouldnt have made it that far...without your video.
@@DannyDrives The language barrier). We call this the “sting” or “blade” of the key. It was under the lid. Where should I put it? I don't remember there being a lock on the door. Is he there? I forgot to look yesterday.
You got me all the way to the spot where I need to replace my battery but then you didn’t say how to pop out the old battery! I don’t wanna break anything
Amazing how nobody seems to realize that the back end of the emergency key is a tool to use instead of having a flathead screwdriver. You do not need any tools to change the battery in your keyfob, Mazda engineers thought of this when designing the key.
Thank you for this detailed demonstration. You helped me a lot. Saved me a lot of time and frustration. Mazda made this overly complicated.
Glad it helped

Thank you. Changing the battery was not intuitive. You saved me a trip to the dealer.
Glad I could help!

Helpful vid! :)
I miss the days when keys were just keys with a chip in them and we didn't have to go through things like this!
Oh honestly, just made it now so in 2-3 years when someone needs it, they have something to help.
@@DannyDrives Good call! Those look like the same batteries most computers use for CMOS batteries :)

wow thats crazy, did my video at least show you how to correctly open? or did they change something along the way on that too?
Good job on the video. What a Lego set this fob is.

Зачем этот ключик в середине брелока? Замка зажигания нет, там кнопка. Неужели в ручке двери есть замок? Нужно будет посмотреть.

my key has some sort of Wifi logo with OFF text, any idea what is for?
Hmm, I would have to see it to determine.

It is just the battery at that point, nothing to break

Sometimes it is just easier
This key fob is an absolute piece of garbage compared to my 2018… can I program extra fobs from that vehicle for this model??? Wishful thinking.
Well if you try it, let us know how it turns out!
These things are over complicated....do better Mazda.... Toyota is kicking your ass
Well I made the video and own a Toyota haha
